U.N. DAY CELEBRATION – The DPTO has been working hard for the past 2 months organizing this wonderful event. The schedule will be as follows:

8:45 a.m. Discovery School Choir Participation
9:00 a.m. Typical Dresses Parade
9:15 a.m. Luis Bustillo performance
9:25 a.m. Folkloric dances
9:40 a.m. Voces Universitarias performance
10:00 a.m. Around the World (19 countries + UNICEF stand = 20 stations)
11:45 a.m. Dismissal

STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES – Report Cards and MAP reports will be issued on Friday, October 26. Elementary teachers will coordinate the conference times among siblings, and parents received the conference notes on Monday, October 22. MS and HS students and parents will be received on a first come-first served basis. If you cannot come in on Friday, please reschedule the conference for next week. Report Cards and MAP reports will be issued only after a conference is held.
STANDARDS-BASED REPORT CARDS FOR ELEMENTARY – The Elementary teachers have been working very hard for the past 7 months developing Standards-Based Report Cards. These will allow parents to be better informed of their child’s academic progress throughout the school year, in direct correlation to the individual curriculum standards for each grade level. This also responds to the SACS accreditation team’s recommendation for aligning, reporting and storing data. The elementary students and teachers have been using the new assessment scale throughout the quarter. If you would like clarification on this, please visit the blog of your child’s teacher to see a copy of the rubric.
GENERAL ASSEMBLY – Last Thursday’s General Assembly was a success. Thanks to all the parents and teachers who came. It was a great opportunity to share information and receive validation from our parents for the work our teachers do at school.
MESSAGE FROM THE CAFETERIA: The School Cafeteria wishes to thank all the teachers, parents and students who supported the Elementary Parent Luncheon initiative last Friday. It was great to see so many parents sharing lunch with their children!
ABSH TRACK AND FIELD – 50 of our secondary students will be representing our School this Friday, October 26. They will be competing against other bilingual schools from Honduras. We invite you to attend the event at the Villa Olimpica, starting at 7:30 a.m. The student will be accompanied by Mr. Victor, Ms. Carol, Ms. Pia and Ms. Ivonne.

CONFERENCIAS DIRIGIDAS POR LOS ALUMNOS – Las calificaciones y los reportes MAP serán entregados el viernes 26 de octubre. Los maestros de primaria coordinarán las horas de las conferencias entre familiares, y los padres recibieron las notas de las conferencias el lunes 22 de octubre. Los alumnos y los padres de secundaria se atenderán de acuerdo a orden de llegada. Si no puede asistir el viernes, por favor reprograme la conferencia para la próxima semana. Las calificaciones y reportes de MAP serán emitidos solamente después de que la conferencia se lleve a cabo.
CALIFICACIONES BASADAS EN LOS ESTANDARES PARA PRIMARIA – Los maestros de primaria han estado trabajando arduamente durante los últimos 7 meses para desarrollar Calificaciones Basadas en los Estándares. Esto le permitirá al padre estar mejor informado del progreso académico de su hijo(a) durante el año escolar, en directa relación con los estándares del currículo de cada grado. Esto también responde a las recomendaciones que el equipo de acreditación de SACS dio para alinear, reportar y guardar información. Los alumnos y maestros de primaria han estado utilizando una nueva herramienta de escala de evaluación durante el periodo. Si desea aclaración, revise el blog del maestro de su hijo(a) para ver una copia de la rúbrica.
ASAMBLEA GENERAL - La Asamblea General del jueves pasado fue un éxito. Agradecemos a todos los padres y maestros que asistieron. Fue una buena oportunidad para compartir información y recibir aceptación de nuestros padres sobre el trabajo que hacen nuestros maestros.
MENSAJE DE LA CAFETERIA – La Cafeteria de la Escuela desea agradecer a todos los maestros, padres y alumnos que apoyaron la iniciativa del Almuerzo de Padres de Primaria del viernes pasado. Fue grandioso ver a todos los padres compartiendo el almuerzo con sus hijos!
ATLETISMO ABSH - 50 de los alumnos de secundaria estarán representando a nuestra escuela este viernes 26 de octubre. Estarán compitiendo con otras escuelas bilingües de Honduras. Les invitamos a asistir al evento en la Villa Olímpica, el cual comienza a las 7:30 a.m. Los alumnos serán acompañados por Mr. Víctor, Ms. Carol, Ms. Pía y Ms. Ivonne.
