SPRING GENERAL ASSEMBLY – Thank you
to all of our parents who attended the General Assembly on Saturday.
BUDGET: The budget was approved
as submitted, reflecting a 6% increase in tuition for 2014-2015.
2014-2015
SCHOOL CALENDAR: The calendar was
approved with the exception that all students will take the final exams on the
last 3 days of school, which will necessitate moving the Professional
Development to Wednesday, May 20, 2015.

Watson has been appointed by the US Ambassador to replace Mona Kuntz, who is
leaving Honduras.

newly elected and appointed Board members will join Jorge Atuan and Eva
Callejas, who will complete their currently elected terms on June 30, 2015.
DPTO GARAGE SALE AND
CARWASH – Once
again, the DPTO wishes to convey their thanks to all the families that
supported their activity last Saturday!
ELECTRONIC VIEWBOOK –
The
Marketing Committee has developed an electronic viewbook that showcases our
school. That viewbook is attached to the email where you receive notification
of this Memo so you can send it to your friends or family members who may be
interested in joining us. Thanks to Karla, Suselle, and the Committee for their
fine work in making this such an outstanding representation of who we are at
Discovery.
SPRING 2014 MAP
TESTING SESSION –This is the second week of our Spring MAP
testing session. We want to remind parents to make an extra effort for your
child to be in school on his/her testing day.
ELEMENTARY SOCCER TOURNAMENT – The
games continue this week for students in grades three, four and five during
lunch time. These began on Monday, May 12 and will end on Wednesday, May 28.

Yearbook
News - As
you already know, our Discovery School Yearbook 2013-2014 is going to be out in
a couple of weeks. We still have copies available, so if you wish to order one,
please do so with Ms. Carolina at the reception area. Remember that the cost
for our CD yearbook is of only L300. Don't miss this great opportunity of
saving great memories of our class activities and events throughout this school
year.
DOG SITTER NEEDED – Ms Diane is
looking for someone to care for her 1 1/2 year old German shepherd mix dog from
June 10-July 17. She is medium-sized.
Must be a dog lover and have no male dogs (the dog has not been spayed
yet.) A securely gated yard is a
must. She is an indoor dog. Ms Diane will provide food, treats and money
for any vet emergency that may arise. Bella does well with adults and teenage

DONATIONS - Moving? Cleaning out?
Community Service Club is collecting used toys in good condition to take
with them on their monthly visits to Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos orphanage. Toys can be dropped off in Mrs. Agurcia's
room (Rm. 7, Secondary Building)
EARLY CHILDHOOD AND
ELEMENTARY LUNCHEON – The Cafeteria will be hosting a luncheon
for parents and students this Friday, May 23. The ordering slips were sent home
last week! Let’s support our school cafeteria by ordering lunch and having
parents come and eat with their child(ren). Please send the orders in as soon
as possible!
END OF THE YEAR
REPORT CARDS AND MAP REPORTS – We would like all our parents to know
that the end of the year Report Cards and final MAP reports will be distributed
on Friday, June 13_ as stated
in our school calendar.
DISCOVERY ZONE – Our Summer camp is
back! Join us and allow your children to have a fun-filled three weeks at the
beginning of their summer. Spread the word among family and friends and get
special discounts!

ASAMBLEA GENERAL DE VERANO – Agradecemos a todos
los padres que asistieron a la Asamblea General de Verano el sábado pasado.
PRESUPUESTO: El presupuesto fue aprobado como se
presentó, reflejando un incremento del 6% en las mensualidades para el
2014-2015.
EL CALENDARIO ESCOLAR 2014-2015: El calendario fue
aprobado con la excepción que todos los alumnos tomarán los exámenes finales en
los últimos 3 días de escuela, para lo cual se necesita mover el Miércoles de
Desarrollo Profesional al miércoles 20 de mayo del 2015.

FOLLETO INFORMATIVO ELECTRONICO – El Comité de Mercadeo ha desarrollado un
Folleto informativo electrónico que presenta nuestra escuela. Este folleto está
adjunto al correo que le notifica sobre este memo para que lo pueda enviar a
sus amigos o miembros de su familia que puedan estar interesados en
matricularse en la escuela. Agradecemos a Karla, Suselle, y al comité por
valioso trabajo en la realización de tan extraordinaria presentación que
aquellos que están en Discovery.
HORARIO DE MAP PRIMAVERA 2014 – Esta es la segunda semana de nuestra sesión de exámenes MAP. Queremos recordar a los padres que hagan un
esfuerzo extra por que su(s) hijo(s) asistan a la escuela en sus días de
exámenes.
TORNEO DE FUTBOL DE PRIMARIA – Los juegos continúan esta semana para los
alumnos de tercer, cuarto y quinto grado, durante el almuerzo. Estos comenzaron el lunes 12 de mayo y finalizarán el miércoles 28 de

Noticias del Anuario – Como ustedes ya
saben nuestro anuario de la Escuela Discovery para el año 2013-2014 estará
saliendo en un par de semanas. Todavía tenemos copias disponibles, si desea
ordenar una, favor hágalo con Ms. Carolina en la recepción. Recuerde que el
valor de su anuario en CD es de Lps.300. No se pierda la oportunidad de conservar
excelentes recuerdos de las actividades del grado y eventos realizados durante
el año.
SE NECESITA CUIDADOR(A) PARA PERRO – Ms. Diane está buscando a alguien que cuide a su perra de 1 ½ años de
edad, mezcla de pastor alemán desde el 10 de junio al 17 de julio. Es tamaño
mediano. Debe ser alguien que le gusten los perros y que no tenga perros machos
(la perra no ha sido castrada aun). Un portón seguro en el patio es necesario.
Ella es una perra que le gusta estar adentro. Ms. Diane proporcionará la
comida, galletitas y dinero para cualquier necesidad de veterinario que se
presente. A Bella le gustan los adultos y jóvenes. Favor comuníquese con Diane
Howard-Coventry el 4 para más detalles o si está interesado. Gracias!
DONACIONES – ¿Mudándose? ¿Limpiando? El Club de servicio
comunitario está recolectando juguetes usados en buenas condiciones para
llevarlos en sus visitas mensuales al orfanato Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos. Los
juguetes se pueden dejar en el aula de Mrs. Agurcia (aula 7, edificio de
secundaria)
ALMUERZO DE PRE-ESCOLAR Y PRIMARIA - La Cafetería está organizando el almuerzo para
padres y alumnos este viernes 23 de mayo. Las formas de pedido se enviaron a
casa la semana pasada! Apoyemos a nuestra cafetería ordenando con ellos el almuerzo y teniendo a padres que nos
acompañen y coman con sus hijos. Favor mande las formas tan pronto como le sea
posible!
CALIFICACIONES Y REPORTES MAP DE FIN DE AÑO – Queremos informar a todos nuestros padres que las calificaciones de fin
de año y los reportes finales de MAP serán entregados el viernes 13 de junio como lo establece el calendario escolar.
ZONA DE DISCOVERY – Nuestro campamento de verano está de regreso! Acompáñenos y permita que
sus hijos tengan tres semanas llenas de diversión al inicio de su verano. Corra
la voz entre sus familiares y amigos y obtenga descuentos especiales!
