SECOND QUARTER REPORT CARDS AND CONFERENCES – Report Cards for the second quarter will be issued on Friday, January
17. Conferences for this quarter are on a need basis, and notices will be sent
home on Monday, January 13. If a parent does not receive a notice from a
teacher but would like to meet for a conference, please contact the teacher to
set up a time for the afternoon of Friday, January 17. Students will be
dismissed at 11:45 a.m., and conferences will be held from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
NEW POLICY FOR LATE WORK – To provide for greater consistency in grading between the grade
levels and to help develop greater responsibility in our students, the school
has adopted a new LATE WORK POLICY for
Grades 4 and up, which will go into effect on Tuesday, January 7 for the
rest of the school year. This is a requirement for all teachers of these
grades, and we ask you to review the information below with your child. If you
have any questions, please contact your Area Administrator.

LATE WORK POLICY FOR GRADES 4-12
Beginning in January 2014, the following will be in effect for all
teachers in Grades 4-12:
For Grades 6-12 -- To be regarded on time, work must be submitted to the
teacher before 8:00 a.m. on the day that it is due. This has proven to be effective in preventing
students from copying homework from another student during the day.
For All Classes in Grades 4-12:
Due Date: 100% of grade (work must be
complete and correctly done)
1 Day Late: 70% of grade
2 Days Late: 0 credit
Long-term Assignments (made at least 2 weeks in advance) are due the day of student’s
return from an excused absence
Free Pass: The teacher may give each student one late pass per quarter, at
the teacher's discretion. This would allow for the work to be turned in 1 day
late (complete and correctly done) for full credit. If the assignment is 2 days
late, it would receive 70% credit. If it is 3 days late, there would be no
credit.
Mandatory Completion of Work: In order to ensure that the student does not miss essential
knowledge and skills, the teacher may require that the student complete an
assignment even if s/he will receive no credit.
Excused Absence: One day to submit make-up work is allowed for each day that was
missed. If turned in after that period of time, the above guidelines apply.

recognition of the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
MAP TESTING – Our second MAP
testing session will take place from Tuesday, January 21 to Friday, February
10.

CALIFICACIONES Y
CONFERENCIAS DEL SEGUNDO TRIMESTRE - Las
calificaciones del segundo trimestre serán entregadas en viernes 17 de enero.
Las conferencias para este trimestre se llevaran a cabo según se necesite, y
enviaremos notas a casa el lunes 13 de enero. Si los padres no reciben una nota
del maestro pero desea reunirse para una conferencia, por favor llame al
maestro para concertar una cita el día viernes 17 de enero por la tarde. Los
niños saldrán a las 11:45 a.m., y las conferencias se realizarán de 12:30 a
3:30 p.m.
NUEVA POLITICA DE
ENTREGA TARDE DE TAREAS – Para proporcionar mayor consistencia en la
calificación de cada grado y para ayudar a desarrollar una mayor
responsabilidad en nuestros alumnos, la escuela ha adoptado una nueva POLITICA DE ENTREGA RETRASADA DE
TAREAS para los niños del 4to grado en adelante, la cual entra en efecto el martes 7 de enero por el resto del año
escolar. Este es un requisito para todos los maestros de estos grados, y les
pedimos revisen la información que detallamos a continuación con su hijo(a). Si
tiene alguna pregunta, por favor comuníquese con el administrador de área.

POLITICA DE ENTREGA TARDE DE TAREAS PARA GRADOS 4-12
Comenzando en enero 2014, la cual entra en
efecto para todos los maestros de los grados 4-12:
Para
los grados de 6-12 – Para ser considerado entregado a tiempo, el trabajo debe entregarse al maestro antes de las
8:00 a.m. el día que es solicitado. Esto ha probado ser efectivo para
prevenir que los alumnos copien los trabajos de otro alumno durante el día.
Para
todos los grados de 4-12:
Fecha de entrega: 100% de la nota (el
trabajo debe estar completo y realizado correctamente)
1 día tarde: 70% de la nota
2 días tarde: 0 puntos
Tareas de mayor
duración
(asignadas por lo menos con 2 semanas de anticipación) deberán ser entregadas
el día que el alumno regrese después de una ausencia con excusa
Pase Libre: El maestro puede
darle a cada alumno un pase libre por trimestre, a discreción del maestro. Esto permitirá que el
trabajo sea entregado 1 día tarde (completo y correcto) para obtener todos los
puntos. Si la tarea tiene 2 días de retraso, recibirá 70% del puntaje. Si tiene
3 días de retraso, no tendrá puntaje.
Completar Obligatoriamente
el Trabajo: Para
asegurarnos que los alumnos no pierdan conocimientos y habilidades esenciales,
el maestro requerirá que el alumno complete su tarea aun cuando él/ella no
reciba puntos.
Ausencia con Excusa: Un día para presentar
trabajo de reposición está permitido por cada día que se perdió. Si se entrega
después de ese periodo de tiempo los lineamientos antes mencionados aplican.

EXÁMENES MAP – Nuestra segunda
sesión de exámenes MAP comenzará el martes 21 de enero al viernes 10 de
febrero.
