DPTO for offering our staff a delicious lunch last Friday.
GENERAL ASSEMBLY – The General
Assembly will be held this Thursday, May 16, beginning at 6:00 p.m. According
to our by-laws, we need a quorum of at least 57 families represented--please join us at this year’s meeting.
Three of our Board members will complete their 2-year terms (Wendy Willemsen,
Wendolyn Sanchez, and Arnaldo Palma). These members are all running for

DISCOVERY STUDENTS AT THE ABSH
MATH OLYMPICS –We would like to congratulate our 4 teams who represented the school
in the XII ABSH Math Olympics hosted by La Estancia School in
collaboration with UNITEC. 28 schools from Honduras and more than 400 students
gathered to compete in this prestigious event. The results for our
participating students are as follows:

THE CHRONICLES OF DISCOVERY
GALA -- The Chronicles Gala is this Friday,
May 17, 2013. This
formal, black tie event is modeled after the Oscars in that there will be pomp
and extravagance, live entertainment and hors d’oeuvres, photographers and a
quartet. It is a celebration of
literature and art, specifically for the Chronicles of Discovery Literary and
Art magazine.
The Gala begins at 7:00 p.m. May 17, 2013. Purchase your tickets for L.
100 from any AP English Composition student, Mr. Fenn, or Carolina. (EL Heraldo
and TN5 will be covering the event.)
ART EXHIBIT – The Art
Department will be showcasing the work our students have done in Art class this
Thursday, May 16 and Friday, May 17. Parents are welcome to stop by the school
library and art room to enjoy two or three of each student’s best work throughout
year. Besides being open during the school days, the Exhibit will also be open
before the General Assembly and the Chronicles of Discovery Gala – both
excellent opportunities for our parents to visit it! We hope you will be able
to join us.
MAP SPRING TESTING SESSION
CONTINUES –This is week two of our spring testing session. Please continue to
encourage your children to do their best in these assessments.
DPTO GARAGE SALE – The DPTO will
have an Open Garage Sale on Saturday, May 25. The price per stand is L.500.00

DISCOVERY ZONE 4 – Our Summer Camp is
back, beginning June 10. If you are interested in enrolling your child(ren)
please stop by the office to pick up the registration form or access the form
on our website (www.discoveryschool.edu.hn) Great discounts are available!
SUMMER SCHOOL - The teachers
from grades 5-11 have identified the students who are candidates for Summer
School. Formal communication from the Area Administration will be taking place
in the following weeks. Please contact Ms. Gloria Palacios for further
information.
ENROLLMENT DRIVE: Do not forget the Enrollement Drive to
attract new students to Discovery School is on, and ends on August 31, 2013.

LA GALA DE LAS CRONICAS DE DISCOVERY – La Gala de las Crónicas se llevará a cabo este viernes 17 de mayo de 2013. Este
evento formal, de etiqueta se hace como modelo de los premios Oscar en el que
tendremos pompa y extravagancia, entretenimiento en vivo y aperitivos,
fotógrafos y un cuarteto. Es una celebración de la literatura y el arte,
especialmente para la revista de Literatura y Arte Crónicas de Discovery.
La gala dará inicio a las
7:00 p.m. el 17 de mayo de 2013. Compre sus boletos por L.100 de cualquiera de
los alumnos de la clase Composición Inglesa de AP, Mr. Fenn, o Carolina. (El
evento será cubierto por El Heraldo y TN5.)
EXHIBICION DE ARTE – El Departamento de Arte estará exhibiendo el trabajo que nuestros
alumnos han realizado en el transcurso del año escolar en clase de arte este
jueves 16 y viernes 17 de mayo. Nuestros padres están cordialmente invitados a
visitar nuestra biblioteca y salón de arte para disfrutar de dos o tres
trabajos por cada estudiante. Además de estar abierta durante el día escolar, la
exhibición estará también abierta antes de la Asamblea General y antes de la
Gala del viernes,– ambas excelentes oportunidades para que nuestros padres la
visiten. Esperamos contar con su presencia!
