GALA - Thank you to all who attended
the Chronicles Gala. It was a huge
success with El Heraldo and TN5 covering the event, taking pictures, videoing,
and interviewing. The performers were
extremely powerful. Many from other
schools were impressed with the talent at Discovery. Nicely done Sachi Kameishi, Paulina Leal, and
Katarina Fenn! And CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. Kjell Fenn for once again putting
together such an amazing event.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SCHOOL
CHOIR – As announced in our General Assembly, the Discovery School Choir has
been invited by The Distinguished Concert International New York (DCINY) to
participate in their Choral Music for
Treble Voices. The event will take place on June 2014 at the
Carnegie Hall in New York City, one of the most famous Concert Halls in
the entire world! Congratulations to our outstanding Choir members, supporting
parents and dedicated choir directors!
SUPERB ART EXHIBIT – Congratulations
to all our students for their outstanding work in Art Class this school year.
Special thanks to Ms. Vivian, Mr. Warren, Mr. Vincent and Ms. Soraya for their
amazing work with our students, and thanks to Ms. Maria Fernanda, Ms. Nuvia,
Ms. Karen and Mr. Carlos who assisted them in setting up the Exhibit so that
all our community could enjoy our students’ art work!
DISCOVERY SCHOOL ALUMNI - Adriana Sierra
(Class of 2012) has been placed in the Dean's Honour Roll. Adriana is currently
studying Environmental Science and International Development in Trent
University, Peterborough, Ontario. Congratulations Adriana! We are very proud
of your dedication and commitment to your education. You sure make us very
proud!
MAP SPRING TESTING SESSION
CONTINUES –This is week three of our spring testing session. Please continue to
encourage your students to do their best in these assessments.
GENERAL ASSEMBLY - Thank you to
those of you who attended and participated in last week's General Assembly.
Thanks, also, to the teachers who remained at school for the Assembly, and to
the DPTO for their participation and presentation. Unfortunately, there were
not enough parents present to make our required quorum of 1/3 of our families.
Therefore, as required by our By-Laws, we have to schedule another General Assembly. That General Assembly will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013, beginning at 6:00
p.m. in the Cafeteria.
On the Agenda are:

§ Approval of the
school calendar
§ Election of 3 new
Board members (current candidates are Wendy Willemsen, Wendolyn Sanchez,
Arnaldo Palma, and Erica Herrera)
§ Discussion of the CEMENT PLANT that is being built near
the school (We will provide separate denuncia forms for each family to sign.
)
Discovery School is
parent-owned, and this is your opportunity to make a real difference in the
life and future of your child's school. With your participation and support,
we believe we can stop this cement plant. However, without that commitment
from all of our families, it will much more difficult to raise the level of
awareness and concern about it.
The DPTO is supporting the General Assembly by offering a PIZZA PARTY to the grade who has the
highest percentage of attendance from their parents! PLEASE JOIN US AT
6:00 P.M. ON THURSDAY, MAY 23
IN THE CAFETRIA--LET'S AIM FOR AT LEAST 2/3 OF OUR
FAMILIES (115 FAMILIES) TO BE IN ATTENDANCE
CUENTA CUENTOS – The Spanish
Department worked on a Fluency and Reading Project during this school year. To
conclude it, they will present a “Story Teller Show” on Friday, May 31st at
8:50 in our school gym. The cost of the activity is L. 50.00 per student, which
have to be brought to Ms. Marisela or Ms. Norma, no later than Wednesday May 29th. Parents are invited to attend at
no additional cost!
DISCOVERY IDOL - Auditions will be
held on May Wednesday 22nd
and Thursday 23rd at
the MUSIC ROOM DURING recess and lunch time.
**An amount of L. 50.00
will be charged to each participant in order to buy MEDALS for 1st,
2ND and 3rd places.
**We will select one student or group to represent each grade.
The rest of the students will support their classmates during the show.
**ONLY SINGING performances will audition, no instrumental or dancing
performances will be included this year.
DPTO GARAGE SALE – The DPTO will be
hosting an Open Garage Sale on Saturday, June 1. The price per stand is
L.500.00 please contact the DPTO officers for further information or email discoverypto@gmail.com .
DISCOVERY ZONE 4 – Our Summer Camp is
back, beginning June 10. If you are interested in enrolling your child(ren)
please stop by the office to pick up the registration form or access the form
on our website (www.discoveryschool.edu.hn) Great discounts are available!
ENROLLMENT DRIVE: Do not forget the Enrollment Drive to attract
new students to Discovery School is on, and ends on August 31, 2013. For

GALA DE LAS CRONICAS DE DISCOVERY – Agradecemos a todos los que asistieron a la Gala de las
Crónicas. Fue un gran evento con la cobertura de El Heraldo y TN5, tomaron
fotografías, videos, y entrevistas. Las actuaciones estuvieron extraordinarias.
Muchas personas de otras escuelas estuvieron impresionados del talento de
Discovery. Muy bien hecho Sachi

FELICIDADES A NUESTRO CORO ESCOLAR – Como fue anunciado en nuestra Asamblea General, el
coro de la Escuela Discovery ha sido invitado por El Concierto Distinguido
Internacional de Nueva York (DCINY) a participar en su Música Coral para Voces Agudas. El evento se llevará a cabo en
Junio del 2014 en el Carnegie Hall de la ciudad de Nueva York,
uno de los salones de conciertos mas famosos en todo el mundo! Felicidades a
nuestros sobresalientes miembros del Coro, padres colaboradores y muy dedicadas
directoras del coro!
MAGNIFICA EXHIBICION DE ARTE - Felicitamos a
todos los alumnos por su excelente trabajo en la Clase de Arte de este año
escolar. Especialmente agradecemos a Ms. Vivian, Mr. Warren, Mr. Vincent y Ms.
Soraya por su increíble trabajo con los

ALUMNA DE LA ESCUELA DISCOVERY - Adriana Sierra
(Clase de 2012) ha obtenido un lugar en el Cuadro de Honor del Decano. Adriana
esta actualmente estudiando Ciencia Ambiental y Desarrollo Internacional en la
Universidad de Trent en Peterborough, Ontario. Felicidades Adriana! Estamos muy
orgullosos de tu dedicación y compromiso con tu educación. Tu nos llenas de
orgullo!
CONTINUAN LAS SESIONES DE EXAMENES DE PRIMAVERA DE MAP
- Esta es la tercera semana de los exámenes de
primavera. Por favor continúe animando a sus hijos hacer su mejor esfuerzo.
ASAMBLEA GENERAL: Agradecemos a aquellos que asistieron y participaron en la Asamblea
General de la semana pasada. También agradecemos a los maestros que
permanecieron en la escuela por la Asamblea, y al DPTO por su participación y presentación.
Desafortunadamente, no
asistieron suficientes padres de familia para cumplir con el quórum
requerido de 1/3 de nuestras familias. Por lo tanto, como es requerido
por nuestros Estatutos, tenemos que programar otra Asamblea General. Esa Asamblea se realizará el día jueves 23 de mayo , comenzando a las
6:00 p.m. en la Cafeteria.
En
la agenda tenemos:
- Aprobación del presupuesto
- Aprobación del calendario escolar
- Elección del 3 nuevos miembros (los candidatos actuales son Wendy
Willemsen, Wendolyn Sanchez, Arnaldo Palma, y Erica Herrera)
Discusión de la PLANTA DE CONCRETO que se está
construyendo a la par de la escuela (Proveeremos formularios de denuncia
formales, por separado para que firme cada familia.)
La Escuela Discovery es una escuela cuyos dueños son
los padres, y esta es una oportunidad para marcar una diferencia en la vida y
el futuro de la escuela de sus hijos. Con su participación y apoyo, creemos
que podemos detener la construcción de esta planta. Sin embargo, sin el
compromiso de todas nuestras familias, es mucho más difícil elevar el nivel de
reconocimiento y preocupación al respecto.

DE PIZZA al grado que tenga el más

CUENTA CUENTOS – El Departamento de Español ha trabajado en un Proyecto de Fluidez y Lectura
durante el año escolar. Para finalizarlo, presentarán un “Espectáculo de Cuenta
Cuentos” el día viernes 31 de mayo a las 8:50 a.m. en el gimnasio de la
escuela. El costo de la actividad es de L.50 por alumno, los cuales deben
ser entregados a Ms. Marisela o Ms. Norma, a más tardar el miércoles 29 de mayo. Los padres están invitados a
asistir sin costo adicional!
DISCOVERY IDOL – Las audiciones se realizarán
el miércoles 22 y jueves 23 de mayo en el AULA DE MÚSICA DURANTE las horas
de receso y almuerzo.
** Una cantidad de L.50.00 serán cobrados a cada participante para comprar las
MEDALLAS de 1er, 2do y 3er lugar.
**Elegiremos a un alumno o grupo para representar
a cada grado. El resto de los alumnos deberán apoyar a sus compañeros en la
presentación.
**SOLAMENTE CANTO se recibirán, no incluiremos
presentaciones de baile o ejecutar instrumentos este año.
VENTA DE GARAJE DEL DPTO - El DPTO tendrá
una Venta de Garaje abierta el sábado 1 de junio. El precio por mesa es
