It is very important to teach our students about sharing and helping others. Angelitos Del Dia is a perfect way to help show our students just how easy this can be and how we can make a difference in our community.
"Angelitos del Dia" helps newborn babies born at Hospital Materno Infantil, here in Tegucigalpa. They provide moms with newborn essentials (blankets, pajamas, socks, hats, wash cloths, towels, diapers, baby wipes, baby soap and baby shampoo).
Your child will be taking an empty bag home this week. Please feel free to donate as many items as you wish by placing them in the bag. Send the bag back sealed by November 28th.

Es muy importante enseñar a nuestros estudiantes de Pre-Escolar sobre compartir y ayudar a otros. Angelitos Del Dia es una manera perfecta de ayudar a mostrar a nuestros estudiantes lo fácil que puede ser y cómo podemos hacer una diferencia en nuestra comunidad.
"Angelitos del Dia" ayuda a los recién nacidos, nacidos en el Hospital Materno Infantil, aquí en Tegucigalpa. Proporcionan a las madres con elementos esenciales para recién nacidos (mantas, pijamas, calcetines, gorros, toallas, pañales, toallitas, jabón y champú para bebés).
Su hijo (a) llevará una bolsa vacía a casa esta semana. Usted envié tantos artículos como usted desea donar poniéndolos en la bolsa. Envíe la bolsa sellada antes del 28 de noviembre.

Our Elementary students will be participating in an intramural Kickball Tournament (grades 3-5) on Friday, November 18.
This event will be organized in PE class and will take place from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m..
Our second graders are invited to come and cheer for the different teams.

PUNCTUALITY – Classes begin at 8:00 a.m. promptly every day. Students are expected to arrive before 8:00 am every day. There is a warning bell at 7:55 a.m. and any student who is not in class by 8:00 a.m. is considered tardy. When students arrive early to school, they can organize their lockers and materials, they can turn in their homework, they can socialize, and they can also seek teachers for assistance. When they arrive late to school, they get stressed out, classes are interrupted, and they miss important information provided at the beginning of the class. We kindly request your assistance in this matter.
MAKE UP WORK POLICY - It is the responsibility of the student to obtain make up assignments from the teachers and to see that the completed work is submitted within the allotted number of days.
- If a student is absent for 1 or 2 days, he/she MUST bring an excuse from home in order to be able to make up the missing work
- If a student is absent for 3 or more days, he/she MUST bring an excuse from the doctor in order to be able to make up the missing work
- If the student brings an appropriate excuse, he/she will have 1 day per day missed to make up his/her work.
- If the student fails to present his/her work due, he/she will receive no points for the work.

PUNTUALIDAD -- Las clases comienzan a las 8:00 a.m. puntualmente cada día. Se espera que los estudiantes lleguen antes de las 8:00 am todos los días. Hay una campana previa que suena a las 7:55 a.m. y cualquier estudiante que no esté en la clase antes de las 8:00 am se considera tarde. Cuando los estudiantes llegan temprano a la escuela, pueden organizar sus casilleros y materiales, pueden entregar sus tareas, pueden socializar, y también pueden buscar a los maestros para recibir ayuda. Cuando llegan tarde a la escuela, ellos se estresan, interrumpen la clase, y se pierden información importante proporcionada al comienzo de la clase. Se solicita amablemente su ayuda en este asunto.
Normas de Recuperación de Trabajo - Es la responsabilidad del estudiante para obtener reponer las asignaciones que han dejado los maestros y para ver que el trabajo realizado se presentará en el número de días asignado.
- Si un estudiante está ausente durante 1 o 2 días, él / ella debe traer una excusa de su casa con el fin de poder reponer el trabajo perdido.
- Si un estudiante está ausente durante 3 o más días, él / ella debe traer una excusa por parte del médico con el fin de poder reponer el trabajo perdido.
- Si el estudiante trae una excusa apropiada, él / ella tendrá 1 día por día perdido para reponer su trabajo.
- Si el estudiante no presenta su trabajo previsto, él / ella no recibirá ningún punto por el trabajo.

ABSH BASKETBALL –
We would like to congratulate both teams that represented the school: Infantil boys and Pre juvenile boys. Both teams had an outstanding participation and our pre juvenile team won a trophy for Sportsmanship - ethical, appropriate, polite and fair behavior while participating in a game or athletic event.

AASCA TRACK & FIELD / CROSS COUNTRY –
For the first time, our school will be sending a team to compete in an international competition hosted by the American School of El Salvador. Our team will be competing this week (November 9-13). We also wish them good luck!! GO WOLVES!!!

ABSH BASKETBOL- Queremos felicitar a los dos equipos que representaron a la escuela: Infantil y Pre Juvenil. Ambos equipos tuvieron una destacada participación, y nuestro equipo Pre-juvenil ganó un trofeo por Destreza Deportiva - ético, apropiado, cortés y justo comportamiento mientras participaba en el juego o en el evento atlético.

AASCA ATLETISMO / CAMPO TRAVIESA - Por primera vez, nuestra escuela va a enviar un equipo para competir en un concurso internacional organizado por la Escuela Americana de El Salvador. Nuestro equipo estará compitiendo del 9 de noviembre al 13. ¡También les deseamos buena suerte! ¡Vamos Lobos!

It is always the season to open our hearts and share with those around us that need it most. It has been a tradition at Discovery School for students to come together and contribute in assembling baskets of goods for our support personnel. We are asking for your cooperation in sending the following:
Nursery/PKinder and 6th grade students
1 5-lb bag of beans
Kinder and 7th grade students
1 5 lb bag of rice
1st grade and 8th grade students
1 5-lb bag of sugar
2nd grade and 9th grade students
1 bottle or 2 bags of oil, 2 boxes of margarine, OR 3 lbs of lard
3rd grade and 10th grade students
1 4lb-bag of MASECA
4th grade and 11th grade students
3 lbs of spaghetti (six packages) OR 1 bag of coffee
5th grade and 12th grade students
4 packages of tomato paste
Please feel free to send any additional goodies that you want to share with our devoted staff, such as canned goods, instant soups, cookies and crackers, or anything else that does not require refrigeration. Please send these items no later than Friday, December 2. Your cooperation will be deeply appreciated.
