THANK YOU DPTO - Several grades enjoyed Pizza Parties last Friday thanks to the DPTO’s reward for the Scavenger Hunt during our 25th Anniversary Celebration. The DPTO is always supporting the school, and we invite our community to support the upcoming FUN RUN AND FAMILY GAMES (February 23) and BINGO (March 8).

MIDTERM REPORTS - The Midterm Progress reports will be sent home this Friday, February 15. We ask that parents go over these reports, and contact the teacher(s) if they see any areas they would want to discuss in person. Please return the report back to school with your signature.

ABSH Language Arts Festival - our students will be representing the school in Spelling (English and Spanish) and Speech (English and Spanish). The festival will take place simultaneously in the Mayan School and the International School of Tegucigalpa. We thank our teachers, who have been coaching the students since November, and our parents who have been supporting their children. Go Wolves!

Festival de Lenguaje ABSH: nuestros estudiantes representarán a la escuela en ortografía (inglés y español) y Oratoria (inglés y español). El festival se llevará a cabo simultáneamente en la Escuela Mayan y la Escuela Internacional de Tegucigalpa. FUN RUN AND FAMILY GAMES BY THE DPTO

We are less than 2 weeks away from this amazing opportunity to spend quality time with your family and Discovery School fiends. Besides the traditional Fun Run, there will be opportunities for parents and children to play together in games of basketball (against our AASCA and ABSH champs), volleyball (girls’ new team) and soccer. And to top things off, there will be a Zumbamania dance off!
This activity is designed to give families a morning of fun and games. And of course, a COMPLIMENTARY (FREE!) PANCAKE AND FRUIT BREAKFAST is offered by the DPTO!

Estamos a menos de 2 semanas de esta increíble oportunidad de pasar tiempo de calidad con sus familiares y amigos de Discovery School. Además del tradicional Fun Run, habrá oportunidades para que los padres de familia y los estudiantes jueguen juntos en los juegos de baloncesto (contra nuestros campeones AASCA y ABSH), voleibol (nuevo equipo femenino) y fútbol. Por si esto fuera poco, habrá un baile de Zumbamania!

ENVIRONMENTAL STUDENT COUNCIL MOVIE EVENT - This amazing group of students is working very hard in raising fund for a Recycling Station for our school. Several activities have been planned for the remaining of the school year, and involve all Elementary grades, but to kick things off, the STUCO and 5th Graders have organized a Sunday, February 24 showing of A DOG’S WAY HOME at 11:00 a.m. in Novacentro. What a great way to spend a Sunday with your family and support the Environmental Student Council raise the L50,000 it needs! With your support they can make it!

EVENTO DE PELÍCULA DEL CONSEJO DE ESTUDIANTES AMBIENTALISTAS - Este increíble grupo de estudiantes está trabajando arduamente para recaudar fondos para una estación de reciclaje para nuestra escuela. Se han planeado varias actividades para el resto del año escolar, e involucran a todos los grados de Primaria, pero para comenzar, los estudiantes de STUCO y 5to. Grado organizaron un domingo, 24 de febrero, proyectando la película "UNO MAS DE LA FAMILIA" a las 11:00 a.m. en Novacentro . ¡Qué excelente manera de pasar un domingo con su familia y apoyar al Consejo Ambiental Estudiantil para aumentar los L50,000 que necesita! ¡Con su apoyo pueden hacerlo!

ART CONTEST - The Elementary Students are very excited about participating in a Toyota sponsored drawing contest. Their imaginations are soaring as they are devising the car of their dreams! And even though the drawings are due at the end of the month, some have already submitted their creations. Parents, please ask your child about this contest, and if they will participate, fill out and send back the form that was given to them last week.

CONCURSO DE ARTE - Los estudiantes de primaria están muy entusiasmados de participar en un concurso de dibujo patrocinado por Toyota. ¡Su imaginación aumenta a medida que diseñan el auto de sus sueños! Y a pesar de que los dibujos deben entregarse a fin de mes, algunos ya han enviado sus creaciones. Padres de familia, por favor, pregúntele a su hijo (a) sobre este concurso, y si van a participar, completen y envíen el formulario que se les entregó la semana pasada.

Bake Sale - the Seniors will have a Valentine’s Day bake sale on Thursday, February 14.

Operation Smile Brigade: our club will be attending a brigade on Friday, February 22. Our students will be assisting around 100 patients that will undergo cleft lip surgery. The club will be providing meals, care for the little patients, and offering Smile Bags for after the surgeries.

SENIORS NEWS - We are so pleased to share with you the news on Laura Salazar’s most recent college admission. Laura has been offered admission to Otis College of Art and Design (California, U.S.), one of the most diverse and creative colleges in the world. Along with this admission, Laura has been awarded the Otis Presidential Scholarship. This award represents one of the highest honors bestowed upon students at the College. We are so proud of you, Laura.
