GENERAL ASSEMBLY – Our first General Assembly for this school year will take place on Thursday, October 18 at 6:00 p.m. We hope that you will be able to join us, meet our Board Members, and learn more about the functioning of the school.
MAP REPORTS – Will be distributed with report cards on October 26.
U.S. HISTORY STUDENTS – UNITEC and the American Embassy have invited our Seniors who are currently taking U.S. History to attend a viewing of the U.S. Presidential debate on Tuesday, October 16, at UNITEC. The event will be opened by the U.S. Ambassador, Ms. Lisa Kubiske, and the students will have a chance to discuss the debate afterward.
PSAT EXAM → Grades 10 and 11 students will have the opportunity to take the PSAT Exam on Wednesday, October 17 from 8:00 – 12:00.
ELEMENTARY SPANISH READING FLUENCY PROJECT – Our Elementary Spanish teachers have undertaken a project to help improve the Spanish reading fluency of our students. This will benefit our students as they become more profficient and effective in their reading, allowing them to focus on comprehension and literary appreciation. MEDICAL BRIGADES - Please email Mrs. Ivonne if you are interested in supervising one of the Medical Brigade trips and want more information. Brigades will take place in San Marcos October 21 to 28; and Los Encinitos November 10 to 17.
DPTO MEETINGS – The DPTO continues to meet on Wednesday at the cafeteria to organize our UN Day celebration that will take place on October 25. Please feel free to join the meetings that take place from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m.
SENIORS 2013 U.N. DAY CASH RAFFLE – To raise funds for their community work, our Seniors are selling tickets for a CASH prize raffle that will be held during our U.N. Day Celebration. The first prize is L5,000.00, the second prize is L3,000 and the third prize is L2,000.00 Please support our Seniors by purchasing tickets (only L50 each).
ELEMENTARY PARENT LUNCHEON -- Our School Cafeteria will be hosting their first Parent Luncheon for Elementary parents and students on Friday, October 19. We hope that our elementary parents will take this opportunity to come and have lunch with their elementary student.
SECONDARY TARDY POLICY – Secondary students will receive a hard copy of the Tardy Policy that will go into effect on Wednesday, October 17. Parents of Middle School and High School students will also receive an email notification of the policy.

Elementary Book Character Day
Esperamos que hayan disfrutado su fin de semana de 4 días y que nuestros alumnos estén listos para comenzar su segundo parcial de este año escolar en la Escuela Discovery.
ASAMBLEA GENERAL – La primera Asamblea General del año escolar se llevará a cabo el día jueves 18 de octubre a las 6:00 p.m. Esperamos que nos puedan acompañar, conocer a los miembros de la Junta Directiva, y conocer más acerca del funcionamiento de la escuela.
REPORTES DE MAP – Serán entregados junto con las calificaciones el día 26 de octubre.
ALUMNOS DE HISTORIA DE EE.UU. - UNITEC y la Embajada Americana han invitado a los Seniors que actualmente están llevando la clase de Historia de Estados Unidos a asistir a la presentación del debate presidencial de EE.UU. el martes 16 de octubre, en UNITEC. La Embajadora de EE.UU., Sra. Lisa Kubiske abrirá el evento, y los alumnos tendrán la oportunidad de discutir sobre el debate al finalizar.
EXAMEN PSAT – Los alumnos de 10 y 11 grados tendrán la oportunidad de tomar el Examen PSAT el día miércoles 17 de octubre de 8:00 a 12:00.
PROYECTO DE LECTURA FLUIDA EN ESPAÑOL ALUMNOS DE PRIMARIA – Los maestros de Español de primaria han acogido el proyecto para ayudar a mejorar la fluidez y el dominio lector de nuestros alumnos en Español. Esto beneficiará a los alumnos a medida que mejoren en la capacidad y eficiencia al leer, permitiéndoles enfocarse en la comprensión y apreciación literaria. BRIGADAS MÉDICAS – Favor comuníquese con Ms. Ivonne Casco si está interesado en supervisar uno de los viajes de las Brigadas Médicas y desea mayor información. Las brigadas se realizarán en San Marcos del 21 al 28 de octubre; y en Los Encinitos del 10 al 17 de noviembre.
REUNIONES DEL DPTO – El DPTO está trabajando en la organización de la celebración del Día de las Naciones Unidas que se realizará el 25 de octubre. Se están reuniendo cada miércoles en la Cafetería de la escuela, desde las 7:45 a las 8:15 a.m.
RIFA DE EFECTIVO DE SENIORS 2013, EN DÍA DE N.U. - Para recaudar fondos para su Trabajo Educativo Social, los Seniors están vendiendo boletos para una rifa de premios en EFECTIVO que será realizada durante la celebración del Día de las Naciones Unidas. El primer premio es de L5,000.00, el segundo premio es de L3,000.00 y el tercer premio es de L2,000.00. Favor apoye a nuestro Seniors comprando su boleto (a solamente L50 cada uno).
ALMUERZO DE PADRES DE PRIMARIA – La Cafeteria de la escuela estará organizando su primer Almuerzo para Padres y Alumnos de Primaria el día viernes 19 de octubre. Esperamos que los padres de primaria aprovechen esta oportunidad para venir y compartir un delicioso almuerzo con sus hijos.
POLÍTICAS DE LLEGADAS TARDE PARA SECUNDARIA – Los alumnos de secundaria recibirán una copia de las Políticas de Llegadas Tarde que tendrá efecto el miércoles 17 de octubre. Los padres con alumnos de secundaria recibirán también un correo electrónico acerca de las Políticas.
