ASSOCIATION OF BILINGUAL SCHOOLS IN HONDURAS (ABSH) BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT: This week, and for the first time in school history, some of our High School boys that make up the BASKETBALL TEAM will be traveling to San Pedro Sula to participate in the National Tournament. Special thanks to Mr. Jordan Rose who, besides traveling with them, has been dedicating his time in training our young men for this event, to Vincent Taylor who has been helping coach the team, and to Ms. Ivonne Casco who will also be accompanying our young athletes. The following students will be absent from Wednesday, November 7 – Friday, November 9: Luis Fernando Lopez, Fernando Herrera, Alejandro Lopez, Eduardo Retes, Jose Antonio Zuniga, Franklin Cano, Diego Aguilar, Daniel Bermudez, and Jose Carlos Vasquez.
AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES – Our second quarter After School Activities begin this Tuesday, November 6. Please remember to pick your child up promptly at 4:00 p.m.
MINUTA DAY ON FRIDAY – The Language Arts Festival Committe will be selling Minutas this Friday.
DOCUMENTATION OF FOREIGN STUDENTS: The Honduran Immigration Office, acting under direction of the Secretary of the Interior, has instructed us that we need to have a copy of each foreign student's residency card in the student's file. They are also requesting that we provide them with a list of all of our foreign students, the nationality, and the date they entered the school. If a student has dual citizenship and one of them is Honduras, we need to have an original Honduran birth certificate in the file. Once we have that, we do not need to provide the information to Immigration.
Please provide the necessary residency card or birth certificate to Ms. Carolina (dssecretary@discoveryschool.edu.hn ) as soon as possible. We will respond to Immigration on November 15 with what they have requested, and we need to have your information by then. If you have any questions, please contact either Ms. Giles (dsdirector@discoveryschool.edu.hn ) or Ms. Salgado in Finance (dsadministration@discoveryschool.edu.hn ).
THANKSGIVING LUNCH OFFER FROM THE CAFETERIA – The cafeteria has put together an attractive menu that will be available for the classroom Thanksgiving Celebrations.
ELEMENTARY SCIENCE FAIR 2013 (for grades 3-6) – The first Science Fair deadline on the packet is today! Please make sure your students are keeping their work up to date!
ADVANCED ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Ms. Giles will leave on November 17 to attend the annual Conference in Atlanta that is hosted by AdvancED, the umbrella organization for our accrediting agency, SACS.

TORNEO DE BALONCESTO DE LA ASOCIACION DE ESCUELAS BILINGUES DE HONDURAS (ABSH): Esta semana, por primera vez en la historia de la escuela, algunos de nuestros alumnos de secundaria que forman el EQUIPO DE BALONCESTO viajarán a San Pedro Sula a participar en el Torneo Nacional. Un especial agradecimiento a Mr. Jordan Rose, quien además de viajar con ellos, ha dedicado su tiempo para entrenarlos para este evento, a Mr. Vincent Taylor quien ha estado ayudando a dirigir el equipo, y a Ms. Ivonne Casco quien también acompañará a nuestros jóvenes atletas. VIERNES DÍA DE MINUTA – El comité del Festival de Lenguas y Arte estará vendiendo minutas el día viernes.
DOCUMENTOS DE ALUMNOS EXTRANJEROS: La Oficina de Migración de Honduras, actuando bajo la dirección de la Secretaria del Interior y Población, nos ha indicado que necesitamos tener una copia del carnet de residencia estudiantil de nuestros alumnos en sus expedientes. También están solicitando que les proporcionemos una lista de todos los alumnos extranjeros, la nacionalidad, y el día que ingresaron a la escuela. Si un alumno tiene doble nacionalidad y una de ellas es hondureña, necesitamos tener la partida de nacimiento original en el expediente. Una vez que tengamos eso, no necesitamos proporcionar la información a Migración.
Por favor entregue la tarjeta de residencia necesaria o la partida de nacimiento a Ms. Carolina (dssecretary@discoveryschool.edu.hn ) tan pronto sea posible. Responderemos a la Oficina de Migración el 15 de noviembre con lo solicitado, por lo tanto necesitamos tener su información antes.
