MIDTERM AND MAP REPORTS – All Elementary,
Middle and Highschool students took their Midterm and MAP reports home last
Thursday. If you would like to a conference to discuss either or both reports,
and one was not requested by the teacher, please call the school to make an
appointment.
AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES – This is week 4 of
our second semester session for After School Activities. We appreciate parents
picking up their children promptly at 4:00 p.m.
DISCOVERY SCHOOL AT THE ABSH
MUSIC FESTIVAL – Our school Choir travels to San Pedro Sula this week
to participate in the annual ABSH Music festival. We are very proud of the hard
work that our students and teachers continue doing with the choir. We wish them
a safe and successful trip, and we are sure that once again they will represent
our school wonderfully.
CHOIR GALA PRESENTATION – Our choir has
been invited to be a part of a fund-raising gala in benefit of the CRISTO DEL
PICACHO FOUNDATION this Friday, March 1. Furthermore, some of our students will
be dancing in this gala as part of their dance companies. The gala will take
place in the Convention Center of the Honduras Maya Hotel, and will air live on
the Televicentro channels at 9:00 p.m.

STUDENT FIELD TRIP TO THE OPERA - As part of
the Music and Spanish curriculum, Students from grades 5 – 12 will
attend an Opera presentation. This year the Honduran Musical Foundation
will present LA
TRAVIATA by Verdi, an Opera based on La Dama de las
Camelias (a novel by Alejandro Dumas). This is a good opportunity for our
students to experience one of the most complete and enriching musical classical
genres. This year, Ms. Pamela Cruz and Ms. Norma López (our music teachers),
will be performing in this Opera.

Bonilla Theatre
Cost: L. 340 (Includes
opera ticket and bus)
Dress Code: Formal pants or skirt, formal blouse or shirt and formal shoes. Please
do not wear tennis shoes, shorts or jeans.
On that day we will be leaving the
school campus at 8:15 a. m. will come back at 12:30 p.m. Homeroom teachers will accompany their
students to help supervise them during this activity. Students need to bring the money to the music department no later
than Friday, March 1, 2013.

Brigades to San Marcos are coming up from March 1 to 8th and we need a

you are interested in supporting this wonderful organization (Cape CARES).
- We will have a
college prep meeting with all
students in 9th, 10th, and 11th grade and their parents
on March 14th in the Library, beginning at 8:00 a.m. It is important
all parents attend because it will be filled with information
regarding:
- Advanced Placement (AP) classes that
are offered in Grades 10, 11 and 12 (What “AP” courses are and how can
they can help your child succeed in college)
- Summer Opportunities Abroad
- PSAT, SAT, ACT and TOEFL testing
- The College Application Process
- We have arranged for our students to
take an Aptitude Test this year; however, we will sign up Grades 9, 10 and
11 students to take that aptitude test ONLY if a parent attends the March 14th meeting.

Two
college student janitors are stuck in a therapy group meeting and one of
them, a reader of Shakespeare, ends up being the facilitator because the real
group leader is running late. The
therapy group is a room full nuts: one believes she is a CIA operative,
another makes bodily noises, then there’s the hypochondriac and the
narcoleptic, and the sarcastic girl, and finally, the one who cries over
everything. Of course, a comedy
wouldn’t be complete without an exploding toilet.

LA ESCUELA DISCOVERY EN EL FESTIVAL DE MUSICA ABSH – Esta semana nuestro coro estará viajando hacia San Pedro

PASEO ESTUDIANTIL A LA OPERA – Como parte del currículo de Música y Español, los
alumnos de los grados 5 a 12
asistirán a una presentación de la Opera. Este año la Fundación de Musical Honduras estará presentando LA
TRAVIATA de Verdi, una Ópera basada en La Dama de las Camelias (una novela de Alejandro Dumas). Esta es
una buena oportunidad para que nuestros alumnos experimenten uno de los géneros
musicales más completos y enriquecedores. Este año, Ms. Pamela Cruz y Ms. Norma

de la escuela a las 8:15 a.m. regresaremos a las 12:30 m. Los maestros guías
acompañarán a sus alumnos para ayudarles a supervisar esta actividad. Los alumnos deben traer el dinero al

respecto a:

- Oportunidades fuera del país, en

- Exámenes de PSAT, SAT, ACT
y TOEFL
- El proceso de aplicación para
la universidad
- Hemos organizado que este año los alumnos tomen un examen de
aptitudes; sin embargo, hemos registrado a los alumnos de los grados 9, 10
y 11 para tomar el examen UNICAMENTE
si sus padres asistieron a la reunión del 14 de marzo.

Dos jóvenes conserjes, estudiantes
universitarios, se quedan estancados en una reunión de terapia de grupo, y
uno de ellos, a quien le gusta leer mucho a Shakespeare, termina siendo el
facilitador ya que el líder del grupo llegará tarde. La terapia de grupo está llena de locos:
uno se cree agente de la CIA, otro hace ruidos con su cuerpo, esta también el
hipocondriaco y el narcoléptico, la chica sarcástica, y finalmente, el que
llora por todo. Por supuesto, la comedia no estaría completa sin una
explosión de baño.
