EARLY CHILDHOOD COORDINATOR – To strengthen
our Early Childhood Program and effectively address the needs of this group, we
have hired Ms. Nora Sierra as Early
Childhood Coordinator, in addition to teaching Grade 2. Ms. Sierra will work
closely with the teachers of Nursery,
Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Grade 1 to identify areas where we can
improve and to develop effective strategies.

ELEMENTARY SCIENCE FAIR
Wednesday, February 27, 2013
The elementary students will present their
science projects on this day. They should bring everything they need in order
to set up in an assigned area. They
need to come prepared to give an oral presentation and wear semi-formal
clothes. It is recommended that the students do not bring their backpack on
that day, as there will be no regular class instruction on that day!
Students should have a book, Kindle or other
e-reader to keep them entertained and quiet until the judge comes and
evaluates their project. Students should not leave
their area until judging time.
After their project has been judged, they
will walk around the Science Fair and complete a chart they will be given.

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES – This is week 5 of
our second semester session for After School Activities. We appreciate parents

CHOIR GALA PRESENTATION – Our choir has
been invited to be a part of a fund- raising gala in benefit of the CRISTO DEL
PICACHO FOUNDATION this Friday, March 1, in the evening. Furthermore, some of
our students will be dancing in this gala as part of the dance companies. The
gala will take place in the Convention Center of the Honduras Maya Hotel, and
will air live on the Televicentro channels at 9:00 p.m.

STUDENT FIELD TRIP TO THE OPERA - As part of
the Music and Spanish curriculum, Students from grades 5 – 12 will
attend an Opera presentation. This year the Honduran Musical Foundation
will present LA
TRAVIATA by Verdi, an Opera based on La Dama de las
Camelias (a novel by Alejandro Dumas). This is a good opportunity for our
students to experience one of the most complete and enriching musical classical
genres. Ms. Pamela Cruz and Ms. Norma López (our Music teachers),
will perform in this Opera.

opera ticket and bus)
Dress Code: Formal pants or skirt, formal blouse or shirt and formal shoes. Please

Two
college student janitors are stuck in a therapy group meeting and one of
them, a reader of Shakespeare, ends up being the facilitator because the real
group leader is running late. The
therapy group is a room full nuts: one believes she is a CIA operative,
another makes bodily noises, then there’s the hypochondriac and the
narcoleptic, and the sarcastic girl, and finally, the one who cries over
everything. Of course, a comedy
wouldn’t be complete without an exploding toilet.

LA ESCUELA DISCOVERY SOBRESALE EN EL FESTIVAL DE
MUSICA ABSH – El viernes y sábado pasado,
el coro de la escuela viajó a San Pedro Sula para participar en el Festival
Anual de Música ABSH, donde obtuvieron resultados extraordinarios. Por la presentación
de grupo obtuvieron una CALIFICACION SUPERIOR lo cual la sobresale por ser
una CALIFICACION PERFECTA (una de las pocas en la competencia!). La
escuela también participó en competencias de solistas de piano, de la cual de nuestros
ocho participantes hubieron SIETE CALIFICACIONES SUPERIORES y UNA
CALIFICACION EXCELENTE. También tuvimos cinco alumnos que participaron en
la categoría de canto y obtuvimos CUATRO CALIFICACIONES SUPERIORES y UNA
CALIFICACION EXCELENTE. Queremos
felicitar a nuestros maestros, alumnos y padres por su continuo y arduo
trabajo, y su dedicación a la excelencia, y agradecemos que representaran tan
bien a la escuela.
COORDINADORA DE PRE-ESCOLAR – Para fortalecer nuestro programa de Pre-escolar y
enfrentar de manera efectiva las necesidades de este grupo, hemos contratado a
Ms. Nora Sierra como Coordinadora del Área de Pre-escolar, además de dar clases
a 2do grado. Ms. Sierra trabajará conjuntamente con los maestros de Nursery, Pre-Kinder, Kindergarten y 1er

Los alumnos de primaria presentarán sus proyectos de ciencias en ese día.
Deben traer todo lo que necesitan para arreglar su área asignada. Necesitan
venir preparados para dar una presentación oral y deben vestir de manera semi-formal.
Es recomendable que los alumnos no traigan sus mochilas ese día, ya que no tendrán
clases normales!
Los alumnos deberán traer un libro, Kindle u otro lector electrónico que
los mantenga entretenidos y en silencio hasta que el juez llegue a sus proyectos.
Los alumnos no deben dejar su área hasta después que el juez haya llegado.
Después que los proyectos sean evaluados, caminarán alrededor de la
Feria de Ciencias para completar el cuadro que se les entregará.
Padres: Por favor recuerden que este día los alumnos salen a las 11:45
a.m. Seguiremos el siguiente horario:

PASEO ESTUDIANTIL A LA OPERA – Como parte del currículo de Música y Español, los
alumnos de los grados 5 a 12
asistirán a una presentación de la Opera. Este año la Fundación de Musical Honduras estará presentando LA
TRAVIATA de Verdi, una Ópera basada en La Dama de las Camelias (una novela de Alejandro Dumas). Esta es
una buena oportunidad para que nuestros alumnos experimenten uno de los géneros
musicales más completos y enriquecedores. Este año, Ms. Pamela Cruz y Ms. Norma

- Las brigadas médicas a San Marcos se llevarán a cabo del 1 al 8 de
marzo y necesitamos acompañantes. Por favor llame o envíe un correo

en apoyarnos con esta maravillosa organización (Cape CARES).
- Estaremos ofreciendo una reunión de preparación para ingresar a la
universidad con todos los alumnos
de 9no, 10mo, y 11vo grado y sus padres el martes 14 de marzo
en la biblioteca, que comenzará a las 8:00 a.m. Es muy importante que
los padres asistan ya que estaremos dando mucha información con
respecto a:
- Colocación Avanzada (AP) las clases que son ofrecidas en 10, 11 y
12 grados (que son las clases de colocación avanzada “AP” y como pueden
ayudarle a su hijo(a) en la universidad)
- Oportunidades fuera del país, en verano
- Exámenes de PSAT, SAT, ACT y TOEFL
- El proceso de aplicación para la universidad
- Hemos organizado que este año los alumnos tomen un examen de
aptitudes; sin embargo, hemos registrado a los alumnos de los grados 9, 10
y 11 para tomar el examen UNICAMENTE si sus padres asistieron a la reunión
del 14 de marzo.

Dos jóvenes conserjes,
estudiantes universitarios, se quedan estancados en una reunión de terapia de
grupo, y uno de ellos, a quien le gusta leer mucho a Shakespeare, termina
siendo el facilitador ya que el líder del grupo llegará tarde. La terapia de grupo está llena de locos:
uno se cree agente de la CIA, otro hace ruidos con su cuerpo, esta también el
hipocondriaco y el narcoléptico, la chica sarcástica, y finalmente, el que
llora por todo. Por supuesto, la comedia no estaría completa sin una
explosión de baño.
