EARLY CHILDHOOD AND
ELEMENTARY READ-A-THON – The Early Childhood and Elementary will be
carrying out a READ – A – THON for grades K-5 during the month of March. Students
will receive a Read-a-thon Recording Sheet and a bookmark on Monday, March 3,
and will be asked to keep a record of the books they read during the month of
March (whether the book is read as a school assignment or for pleasure). The
winner of each homeroom class will be awarded a special medal and certificate,
and will be treated to a very special lunch in a restaurant on Friday, April 4
(donated by our DPTO). If you have any questions, please ask your Area
Administrator.

COUNSELOR’S OFFICE :

The second graders will
participate in a presentation and discussion on the topic “Healthy Hygiene
Habits”. We wish to encourage our little ones to practice these habits at home
as well as in school.

The “Arca de Esperanzas”
Association will be delivering a presentation for our parents on alternative
treatments to traditional medicine which can be offered to a child when
suffering some kind of learning or emotional disorder. These include
neurofeedback , equine therapy, hydrotherapy, early stimulation and others.
This presentation will take place at the Library on Thursday, March 13, from
8:30a.m. to 9:10 a.m. The school is offering this to parents but is in no
way endorsing or recommending any particular treatment.

Parents and Teachers are invited to attend a
workshop on Attention Deficit Disorder and other learning disorders.

visiting our Juniors this coming
Tuesday, March 4, at 10:30 a.m.
*This coming Friday, March 7, we will also have a Sam
Houston State University (Texas) representative talking to our Juniors during
their lunch time.
YEARBOOK PICTURES UPDATE - Order forms for the yearbook pictures were sent
home last week. Please make sure to send your form back with the exact amount
of money or a check. We will be receiving orders until March 11.
GRADE 3 POETRY CAFÉ –
Parents are
invited to attend a Poetry Reading Café on Friday, March 7 at 10:15 a.m. in the
Grade 3 classrooms.
PAVING OF THE ACCESS
ROAD TO THE SCHOOL: We are beginning the process of taking bids to pave
the road from the Anillo to the school, and we need your help and expertise in
the following two areas:
(1) Serving on a committee that will oversee and guide
the initial process
(2) Submitting a bid for construction of the road
If you are interested and able to help the

CHRONICLES OF
DISCOVERY SCHOOL - Each year at Discovery School we host the event
"Chronicles of Discovery," destined to promote literature and art
developed by our students and reward those whose works excel in these areas.
The event is organized by the students of the AP Literature and Composition
class. Throughout the award ceremony, students conduct art exhibition, musical
performance, and recitation, among other activities. There will also be live
music and refreshments for everyone to enjoy.
We would like to invite you to Chronicles of Discovery
and help us fund it. The event is sponsored by companies and donations from
parents. Any sum of money is welcomed, and may be delivered to Mr. Fenn (high
school building, Room #3). Thank you for helping us promote the artistic school
spirit. We hope to see you at the event on April 25.

MARATON DE LECTURA DE
PRE-ESCOLAR Y PRIMARIA – Pre-escolar y primaria estarán llevando a cabo un
MARATON DE LECTURA para los grados de K-5 durante el mes de marzo. Los alumnos
recibirán una Hoja de Seguimiento del Maratón de Lectura y un Separador de
libros el lunes 3 de marzo, y les pediremos que lleven el registro de los
libros leídos durante el mes de marzo (ya sea que el libro se lea como
asignación de una clase o por placer). El ganador de cada clase será premiado
con una medalla especial y un certificado, y se le invitará a un almuerzo
especial en un restaurante el día viernes 4 de abril (donado por el DPTO). Si
tiene alguna pregunta, comuníquese con su administrador de área.

CONSEJERIA:
- Los alumnos de segundo grado
participarán en una presentación y discusión del tema “Hábitos de Higiene
Saludable”. Deseamos animar a nuestros pequeños a practicar estos hábitos
tanto en casa como en la escuela.
- La Asociación “Arca de Esperanza”
estará realizando una presentación a nuestros padres sobre alternativa de
tratamientos a la medicina tradicional que se puede utilizar cuando los
niños cuando sufren de algún desorden emocional o de aprendizaje. Esto
incluye neurofeedback, terapia equina, hidroterapia, estimulación temprana
entre otros. Esta presentación tendrá lugar en la Biblioteca el jueves
13 de marzo, de 8:30 a.m. a 9:10 a.m. La escuela está ofreciendo esta
charla a los padres pero en ninguna manera respalda o recomienda algún
tratamiento en particular.
- Los padres y maestros están
invitados a asistir a un Taller de Síndrome de Déficit de Atencion y otros
desordenes de aprendizaje.

CALLE DE ACCESO A LA ESCUELA – Estamos comenzando el proceso de cotización
de la calle desde el Anillo hacia la escuela, y necesitamos su ayuda y

CRONICAS DE LA
ESCUELA DISCOVERY – Cada
año en la Escuela Discovery somos organizadores del evento “Crónicas de
Discovery”, destinadas a promover la literatura y el arte desarrollado por
nuestros alumnos, y premiar a aquellos cuyos trabajos sobresalen en estas
áreas. El evento es organizado por los alumnos de la clase de AP Literatura y
Composición. Durante la ceremonia de premiación, los alumnos realizan una
exhibición de arte, música y actuación, y recital, entre otras actividades.
También habrá música en vivo y aperitivos para que todos disfruten.
Queremos
invitarles a las Crónicas de Discovery y a ayudarnos financieramente. El evento
está siendo patrocinado por compañías y donaciones de padres. Cualquier
cantidad de dinero es bienvenida, y pueden llevársela a Mr. Fenn (edificio de
secundaria, aula #3). Gracias por su
ayuda promoviendo el espíritu artístico de la escuela. Esperamos verle en el
evento el 25 de abril.
