ELEMENTARY READ-A-THON – This is week two of the Early Childhood and
Elementary READ – A – THON for grades K-5. Please remind your child(ren) to
read as much as they can, and to record their books in the Reading Log that was
provided.
END OF THE THIRD
QUARTER AND REPORT CARDS - Please
remember that we will be issuing report cards to parents two days before the
scheduled day for the third quarter conferences, This will give our parents the
opportunity to review the reports and determine if they would like to request a
conference to discuss them.The report cards will be issued on Tuesday, March
18, and conferences will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, March 20.

The Arca de Esperanzas
Association will deliver a presentation for our parents on alternative
treatments to traditional medicine which can be offered to a child when
suffering some kind of learning or emotional disorder. These include
neurofeedback , equine therapy, hydrotherapy, early stimulation and others.
This presentation will take place at the Library on Thursday, March 13 from
8:30 a.m. to 9:10 a.m. The school hopes parents will be able to explore these
different options for helping their children, but is in no way endorsing or
recommending any particular treatment.

LAST CHANCE TO ORDER YEARBOOK PICTURES - If you are interested and have not yet sent the
order form for the yearbook pictures, please remember that Tuesday, March 11
is the last day to place them. Make sure to send your form back with the
exact amount of money or a check.
CHOIR MEETING – There will be a Choir meeting on Monday, March 31
at 3:15 p.m. in the school library. Important information will be discussed in
this meeting about the upcoming trip to New York City. At least one parent
for each child who is going on the trip must attend!
THIRD GRADE MAYAN
DRAMA
- Come travel back in time with us! The third graders will be performing a
drama to demonstrate what they have learned about the various contrasting
aspects of Mayan culture to modern day. Please join us on Friday, March 14th.
The schedule is listed below. Parents and other teachers are also welcome to
stop by and watch.

CHRONICLES OF
DISCOVERY SCHOOL - Each year at Discovery School we host the event
"Chronicles of Discovery," destined to promote literature and art
developed by our students and to reward those whose works excel in these areas.
The event is organized by the students of the AP Literature and Composition
class. Throughout the award ceremony, students conduct art exhibition, musical
performance, and recitation, among other activities. There will also be live
music and refreshments for everyone to enjoy.
We would like to invite you to Chronicles of Discovery
and help us fund it. The event is sponsored by companies and donations from
parents. Any sum of money is welcomed, and may be delivered to the Finance
Office for an official receipt. Thank you for helping us promote the artistic
school spirit. We hope to see you at the event, April 25.

MARATON DE LECTURA DE
PRE-ESCOLAR Y PRIMARIA – Esta es la segunda semana del MARATON DE LECTURA de pre-escolar
y primaria en los grados de K-5. Favor recordarle a sus hijos leer tanto como
puedan, y registrar sus libros en la Hoja de Seguimiento que se les
proporcionó.
FINAL DEL TERCER
TRIMESTRE Y CALIFICACIONES – Favor recuerde que estaremos enviando las
calificaciones a los padres dos días antes del día programado para las
conferencias del tercer trimestre. Esto les dará la oportunidad a los padres de
revisar los reportes y decidir si les gustaría solicitar una conferencia para
discutirlas. Las calificaciones serán entregadas el martes 18 de marzo, y las
conferencias se realizarán en la tarde del día jueves 20 de marzo.

CONSEJERIA:
- La Asociación “Arca de Esperanza”
estará realizando una presentación a nuestros padres sobre alternativa de
tratamientos a la medicina tradicional que se puede utilizar cuando los
niños cuando sufren de algún desorden emocional o de aprendizaje. Esto
incluye neurofeedback, terapia equina, hidroterapia, estimulación temprana
entre otros. Esta presentación tendrá lugar en la Biblioteca el jueves 13
de marzo, de 8:30 a.m. a 9:10 a.m. La escuela está ofreciendo esta charla
a los padres pero en ninguna manera respalda o recomienda algún
tratamiento en particular.

DRAMA MAYA DE TERCER
GRADO - Venga y viaje de regreso en el tiempo con
nosotros! Los alumnos de tercer grado estarán realizando un drama para
demostrar lo que han aprendido acerca de las diferencias en los aspectos de la
cultura Maya y el día de hoy. Favor acompáñenos el viernes 14 de marzo. El
horario esta detallado a continuación. Los padres y otros maestros son
bienvenidos a venir a observar.

CRONICAS DE LA
ESCUELA DISCOVERY – Cada
año en la Escuela Discovery somos organizadores del evento “Crónicas de
Discovery”, destinadas a promover la literatura y el arte desarrollado por
nuestros alumnos, y premiar a aquellos cuyos trabajos sobresalen en estas áreas.
El evento es organizado por los alumnos de la clase de AP Literatura y
Composición. Durante la ceremonia de premiación, los alumnos realizan una
exhibición de arte, música y actuación, y recital, entre otras actividades.
También habrá música en vivo y aperitivos para que todos disfruten.
Queremos
invitarles a las Crónicas de Discovery y a ayudarnos financieramente. El evento
está siendo patrocinado por compañías y donaciones de padres. Cualquier
cantidad de dinero es bienvenida, y pueden llevársela a Mr. Fenn (edificio de
secundaria, aula #3). Gracias por su
ayuda promoviendo el espíritu artístico de la escuela. Esperamos verle en el
evento el 25 de abril.
