CHRONICLES OF
DISCOVERY--Discovery School Chronicles of Discovery Gala will take
place at the school's gym on Friday, April 25, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It's
a semi-formal event, with hors d'oeuvres and live entertainment.
The Chronicles of Discovery Literary and Art Magazine
will debut that night and copies will be on sale. Only high quality literature
and artwork are in the magazine, after a very critical submission process.
Those works which made it into the magazine will then compete that same night
to win, in their respective categories, the very prestigious award titled the
"Flame of Knowledge".
Tickets will be on sale starting next week. Normal
seating will be L.100 and Prime at L.150.
ART-A THON--Also, as
part of the AP Literature and Composition class, Andrea Martinez and Victoria
Glynn have organized an event called the
"Art-a-thon" to promote the Chronicles of Discovery Literary and Art
Magazine. This coming Friday, the 11th of April, we will have our fourth and
final Art-a-thon during the high school lunch.
DISCOVERY IDOL – Our Annual
Discovery Idol will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2014; auditions will take
place during lunch time on Wednesday, April 23. Please encourage your children
to use this week to prepare for the show. Thanks to Ms. Valencia, Ms. Gigi, Ms
Ashley J, Ms. Dariela, Ms. Regina and Mr. Cesar for organizing the auditions
and the event.
MIDTERM AND PROGRESS
REPORTS
– The Midterm for the fourth quarter is this Friday, April 11. Midterm Reports
will be sent home the week we return from our Easter Break, on Friday, April
25 (and not on May 1 as the school calendar states).

The first graders will be part of a talk and
discussion on the topic Healthy Hygiene Habits this coming Friday. We wish to
encourage our little ones to practice these habits at home as well as in
school.

DISCOVERY GOES GREEN - APRIL / EARTH
MONTH- CELEBRATION
Month-Long Activities:
- Recycling
Drive- Teachers will highly promote paper, glass, aluminum, and plastic
recycling. Students can bring materials from home, as well. The class with the greatest amount of
pounds/student will win a prize at the end of the month. Environmental Science students will collect
the materials from the homeroom classrooms twice a week.
- Increasing
our green space- Families will be encouraged to send money to cover the
cost of a plant (tree, bush, or flower).
Order forms will be sent out this week.
The plants will be planted on campus on Friday, April 25th
- Green
Day- Each Friday wear green to celebrate and help us remember to take
“green actions.”
DPTO NEWS – The DPTO wishes to share the following dates for the activities that
will take place before the end of the school year. Please mark your calendars,
and support our DPTO by attending these events! More information will be
provided as we get closer to the dates.

MARKETING DISCOVERY
SCHOOL: The Marketing Committee has been very active
in developing ways to market the school. We are printing brochures and colorful
signs that will let the public know more about us. If you have a business or
organization that would like to display either a sign or brochures, please
contact Karla Soto, Marketing Coordinator, at dsmarketing@discoveryschool.edu.hn and we
will provide those to you.

CRONICAS DE LA
ESCUELA DISCOVERY – Las
Crónicas de la Escuela Discovery se realizarán en el gimnasio de la escuela el día
viernes 25 de abril, de 7:00 p.m. a 9:30 p.m. Es un evento semi-formal, con
aperitivos y música en vivo.
La
revista literaria y de arte Las Crónicas de Discovery debutará esa noche y
estará a la venta al público. Solamente literatura y arte de alta calidad son
publicadas en la revista, después de pasar por un proceso de revisión muy crítico.
Los trabajos que logran estar en la revista esa misma noche competirán para
ganar, en su respectiva categoría, por el muy prestigioso premio titulado la “Llama
del Conocimiento”.
Se
venderán los boletos a partir de la próxima semana. Silla regular costará L.100
y preferencial a L.150.
MARATON DE ARTE: Como parte de la
clase de Literatura y Escritura AP, Andrea Martinez y Victoria Glynn han
organizado un evento llamado el “Maratón de Arte” para promover la Revista
Literaria y de Arte las Crónicas de Discovery. Este viernes 11 de abril tendrán
su cuarta y última participación de la Maratón de Arte durante el almuerzo de
secundaria.
DISCOVERY IDOL - Nuestro anual evento Discovery Idol tendrá
lugar el jueves 1 de mayo, 2014; las audiciones se llevarán a cabo durante la
hora de almuerzo el miércoles 23 de abril. Favor anime a su(s) hijo(s) a que se
preparen durante esta semana para el evento. Agradecemos a Ms. Valencia, Ms.
Gigi, Ms. Ashley J., Ms. Dariela, Ms. Regina y Mr. Cesar por organizar las
audiciones del evento.

DE MEDIO PERIODO – El
medio periodo del cuarto trimestre es este viernes 11 de abril. Los reportes de
medio periodo se enviarán a casa la semana que regresemos del feriado de Semana
Santa, el viernes 25 de abril (y no el 1 de mayo como lo detalla el
calendario escolar).

DISCOVERY ES VERDE –
ABRIL / MES DE LA TIERRA-CELEBRACION
Actividades
durante el mes:

Campaña de reciclaje –
Los maestros
promoverán el reciclaje de papel, vidrio, aluminio, y plástico. Los alumnos también
pueden traer materiales de casa. La clase con la mayor cantidad de
libras/alumno ganarán un premio al final del mes. Los alumnos de Ciencias Ambientales
recolectarán los materiales de las aulas dos veces a la semana.

Aumentando nuestro
espacio verde –
Animamos a las familias a mandar dinero para cubrir con los costos de una
planta (árbol, arbusto, o flor). Los formularios de pedido se enviarán esta
semana. Las plantas se sembrarán en la escuela el viernes 25 de abril.
-
Día Ecológico – cada viernes vistan
de verde para celebrar y ayudarnos a recordar a tomar “decisiones ecológicas”.

ESCUELA DISCOVERY:
El Comité de Mercadeo se ha dedicado muy activamente a desarrollar maneras para
mercadear la escuela. Tenemos folletos y rótulos coloridos que nos darán a
conocer al público. Si usted tiene algún negocio u organización adonde le
gustaría exhibir un rotulo o folletos, por favor comuníquese con Karla Soto,
