DISCOVERY SCHOOL MONDAY MEMO FOR PARENTS 5/ 12 /14

DPTO FUN RUN AND CARNIVAL – The DPTO wishes to thank all the students, parents and teachers who contributed in making last Saturday’s event a huge success. They would also like to remind our school community that the GARAGE SALE AND CAR WASH will be held this Saturday, May 17.

DR. JAY KETTERER’S VISIT – Dr. Jay Ketterer, our new Head of School, is on campus for a transition visit this week. He will also be attending our General Assembly this Saturday.

SPRING GENERAL ASSEMBLY - The General Assembly of parents that will be held on Saturday, May 17, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Cafeteria. We are required to have a quorum of one-third of our parents present in order for the meeting to be considered legal and for any decisions made at the General Assembly to be binding. We have 325 parents listed as members of the school association, so we need to have at least 108 parents in attendance (although only one parent per family can vote, both parents can be counted for quorum). We need for YOU to attend! Your ideas and your votes are important for the school. The school will provide supervision and activities for children during the General Assembly (from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.) Dr. Jay Ketterer, Discovery School’s new Head of School will be present at the Assembly.

SPRING 2014 MAP TESTING SESSION – Our MAP testing begins today! The schedule is once again located at the bottom of this Monday Memo.

ELEMENTARY SOCCER TOURNAMENT – Ms Carol has organized a friendly Elementary Soccer tournament with the students of grades three, four and five during lunch time. This will begin on Monday, May 12 and will end on Wednesday, May 28.

·         Yearbook News - As you already know, our Discovery School Yearbook 2013-2014 is going to be out in a couple of weeks.We still have copies available, so if you wish to order one, please do so with Ms. Carolina at the reception area.Remember that the cost for our CD yearbook is of only L300. Don't miss this great opportunity of saving great time memories of our class activities and events throughout this school year.

DOG SITTER NEEDED – Ms Diane is looking for someone to care for her 1 1/2 year old German shepherd mix dog from June 10-July 17. She is medium-sized.   Must be a dog lover and have no male dogs (the dog has not been spayed yet.)  A securely gated yard is a must.  She is an indoor dog.  Ms Diane will provide food, treats and money for any vet emergency that may arise. Bella does well with adults and teenage children.  Please contact Diane Howard-Coventry in the 4th for more details or if interested.    Thank you! 

DISCOVERY ZONE – Our Summer camp is back! Join us and allow your children to have a fun-filled three weeks at the beginning of their summer. Spread the word among family and friends and get special discounts!

CAMINATA POR LA DIVERSION Y CARNAVAL DEL DPTO – El DPTO desea agradecer a todos los alumnos, padres, y maestros que contribuyeron a lograr que el evento del sábado pasado fuera un gran éxito. Asimismo quieren recordarle a la comunidad escolar que la VENTA DE GARAJE Y LAVADO DE AUTOS se realizará este sábado 17 de mayo.

VISITA DEL DR. JAY KETTERER – El Dr. Jay Ketterer, nuestro nuevo Rector de la Escuela, está en la escuela para una visita de transición esta semana. También asistirá a nuestra Asamblea General este sábado.

ASAMBLEA GENERAL DE PRIMAVERA -  La Asamblea General de la primavera para padres, se realizará el día sábado 17 de mayo, a las 9:00 a.m. en la Cafeteria. Se requerida la asistencia de la tercera parte de los padres para alcanzar quórum de manera que la reunión sea considerada legal y que las decisiones que se tomen en la Asamblea General sean irrevocables. Tenemos una lista de 325 padres como miembros de la asociación de la escuela, así que necesitamos la asistencia de al menos 108 padres (aunque solamente un padre por familia puede votar, ambos padres se cuentan para el quórum). Necesitamos SU asistencia! Sus ideas y sus votos son importantes para la escuela. La escuela proporcionará supervisión y actividades para los niños durante la Asamblea General (de 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.) El Dr. Ketterer, nuestro nuevo Rector, estará presente en la asamblea.

HORARIO DE MAP PRIMAVERA 2014 – La sesión de exámenes MAP comienza hoy! El horario está una vez más, ubicado en la parte inferior de este Memo de los lunes.

TORNEO DE FUTBOL DE PRIMAARIA – Ms. Carol ha organizado un torneo amistoso de Futbol de Primaria con los alumnos de tercer, cuarto y quinto grado, durante el almuerzo. Esto comenzará el lunes 12 de mayo y finalizará el miércoles 28 de mayo.

DE LA OFICINA DE CONSEJERIA:
  • Noticias del Anuario – Como ustedes ya saben nuestro anuario de la Escuela Discovery para el año 2013-2014 estará saliendo en un par de semanas. Todavía tenemos copias disponibles, si desea ordenar una, favor hágalo con Ms. Carolina en la recepción. Recuerde que el valor de su anuario en CD es de Lps.300. No se pierda la oportunidad de conservar excelentes recuerdos de las actividades del grado y eventos realizados durante el año.

SE NECESITA CUIDADOR(A) PARA PERRO –  Ms. Diane está buscando a alguien que cuide a su perra de 1 ½ años de edad, mezcla de pastor alemán desde el 10 de junio al 17 de julio. Es tamaño mediano. Debe ser alguien que le gusten los perros y que no tenga perros machos (la perra no ha sido castrada aun). Un portón seguro en el patio es necesario. Ella es una perra que le gusta estar adentro. Ms. Diane proporcionará la comida, galletitas y dinero para cualquier necesidad de veterinario que se presente. A Bella le gustan los adultos y jóvenes.
