MIDTERMS – It is hard to believe that Midterm is
around the corner (September 8). Midterms will be distributed to our students
on the morning of Friday, September 11 before the Independence Day
festivities begin.
MAP TESTS– We will begin this year’s Fall testing session
on Tuesday, September 16. Please check your children’s blogs for specific times
and dates. We ask for our parents’ cooperation in making sure their children
are in school on the day of the MAP test.
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION – Please mark your calendars for the Honduran
Independence Day Celebration on the morning of Friday, September 11. The
activities of this day will be broken down as follows:
8:00
– 8:50 a.m. Desayuno Tipico (each homeroom teacher will
organize a typical Honduran potluck lunch for the students.)
9:00
– 10:00 a.m. Cultural
Presentations (teachers and students will come to the gym to enjoy a diverse
set of Honduran presentations)
10:00
– 11:30 a.m. Honduran Traditional Games (Secondary students will host stations of traditional
games for the Early Childhood and Elementary students.)
*Please
take note that:
a)
We are encouraging students to wear jeans and a Honduran or white t-shirt on
this day.
b)
This is an early dismissal day.
BRICKS4KIDZ – The first module for Bricks4kidz will begin on Friday, September
18. Each module will have only 4 sessions, at a cost of L.1,000.00 per module.
A Bricks4kidz representative will be in school on Friday, September 11 for
those of you who are interested in enrolling your child(ren). For more

CHANGES
IN THE OCTOBER HOLIDAYS – We have received official word that a decree was
issued in Congress changing the October holidays to October 7, 8, and 9. We will be complying and
changing the holidays.
We are asking our teachers to be
understanding and flexible with those families that have purchased tickets for
trips at the end of October and cannot move them. Be as accommodating as possible
in helping students with missed work and content.
SECONDARY
SPANISH PROJECT- The Spanish Cultural Center in
Tegucigalpa is sponsoring a Project that consists in Reading sections of the
second part of the novel “El ingenioso caballero don Quijote de la Mancha” that
they have assigned to us, in commemoration of the 400 years of this publication. This
activity will be held in the school. They will be making a video of this novel
which will be posted in Youtube.

Scholastic Book Club
leaflets were given out last week. This is an optional activity offered by the
school, because we know you want to motivate your child to read at home.
With your purchase, our library will accumulate points to redeem more books for
the benefit of your children in our school. The due date to purchase the
books online is September 18. The
books will arrive to the school in one single delivery, and we will distribute
them to the students according to their orders, approximately three weeks after
the purchase due date.

MEDIO PERIODO - Es difícil de creer que ya llegamos
a Medio Periodo (8 de septiembre). Los reportes de medio periodo se distribuirán
a los alumnos en la mañana del viernes 11 de septiembre antes de que
comiencen la celebración del Día de la Independencia.
EXÁMENES MAP – Comenzaremos la sesión de exámenes de
otoño de este año el martes 16 de septiembre. Favor revise el blog de sus hijos
para obtener fechas y horas específicas. Les pedimos a los padres su cooperación
en asegurarse que sus hijos vengan a clases el día del examen MAP.
CELEBRACION DE INDEPENDENCIA – Favor marque en su calendario que la celebración del
Día de la Independencia de Honduras será el viernes 11 de septiembre por la
mañana. Las actividades de este día se dividirán como a continuación les
detallamos:
8:00 – 8:50 a.m. Desayuno Típico (cada maestro guía organizará un desayuno típico para
los alumnos, con la colaboración de los padres)
9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Presentaciones culturales (alumnos y maestros
vendrán al gimnasio a disfrutar diversas presentaciones hondureñas)
10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Juegos
tradicionales hondureños (los alumnos de secundaria organizarán estaciones
de diferentes juegos tradicionales para los alumnos de Pre-escolar y primaria.)

tome nota de que:
a) Animamos a nuestros
alumnos a que este día se vistan de jeans y camisa de Honduras o camiseta
blanca.
b) Este es un día de
salida temprana.
BRICKS4KIDZ – El primer modulo de Bricks4kidz comenzará el día viernes 18 de septiembre.
Cada modulo será de solamente 4 sesiones, por un valor de L.1,000.00 por
modulo. Un representante de Bricks4kidz estará en la escuela el viernes 11 de
septiembre para aquellos que estén interesados en matricular a su(s) hijo(s).

CAMBIOS EN LOS FERIADOS DE OCTUBRE – Hemos
recibido comunicado oficial que un decreto se emitió en el Congreso cambiando
los feriados de octubre para el 7, 8 y 9 de octubre. Estaremos cumpliendo y cambiando los
feriados.
Pedimos a nuestros maestros que comprendan y sean flexibles con aquellas
familias que han comprado boletos para los viajes a finales de octubre y que no
se puedan cambiar. Sean serviciales lo
mas que puedan para que ayuden a los alumnos con el trabajo y contenido
perdido.
PROYECTO DE ESPAÑOL PARA SECUNDARIA - El
Centro Cultural de España en Tegucigalpa está patrocinando un proyecto que consiste
en leer fragmentos de la segunda parte de la novela "El ingenioso
caballero don Quijote de la Mancha" que ellos nos han asignado en
conmemoración de los 400 años de esta publicación. Esta actividad se realizará
en las instalaciones de la escuela. Ellos harán un audio video de esta novela
la cual será exhibida en Youtube.

Noticias de Scholastic –
Los formularios del Club del Libro de Scholastic se entregaron la semana
pasada. Esta es una actividad opcional ofrecida por la escuela, ya que buscamos
motivar a sus hijos a la lectura en casa. Con su compra, nuestra biblioteca
acumulará puntos para redimir por más libros que beneficiarán a sus hijos en la
escuela. La fecha límite para la compra de libros en línea es 18 de septiembre. Los libros llegarán a
la escuela en una solo paquete, y los distribuiremos a los alumnos según las
ordenes, aproximadamente tres semanas después de la fecha límite de compra.
