WELCOME BACK – We hope you all
had a relaxing Feriado Morazánico!
ADVANCED
EXTERNAL REVIEW TEAM VISIT- The school will be greeting the External
Review Team this weekend, and will begin working on Sunday. The AdvancED team
visit October 18-22. The team has invited all parents for a
meeting on Tuesday, October 20, from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. The
Early Childhood and Elementary parents will meet in the 2nd Floor Conference
Room, and the Middle and High School Parents will meet in Community Information
Center. Please mark your calendars/agendas if you are interested in coming and
being a part of this accreditation process.
CONFERENCES – Please remember that Student-Parent-
Teacher conferences for the first quarter are MANDATORY at Discovery School. Early Childhood and
Elementary parents will receive a notice with the time next Monday, October 19.
Middle
and High School students and parents can pick up the report cards with each
student’s homeroom teacher, and can talk to the teachers they want on a first
come-first serve basis.
NEW MAP SCHEDULE –Please see below the new schedule we will be
following in order to complete our testing session. Reports and MAP yearly
goals will be discussed with parents in our October 23 Student-Parent- Teacher
conferences.

Information Center. Important topics related to the secondary life will be

Bricks4kidz ANNOUNCEMENT – This Friday, October 16 is the last session
of this current module, from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. We also want to give you a heads
up that our second module will begin on the first week of November

UN Day Preparations- The DPTO has begun on
their preparations for our school UN DAY celebration on Friday, October 30,
from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. All school families are invited to participate and represent
their country of origin. If you have a typical outfit from your country, and

BAZAAR- LOOKING FOR VENDORS- Discovery’s Helping
Hands Club, a community service club that benefits the children of the Nuestros
Pequeños Hermanos orphanage will be having a Christmas Bazaar. Interested vendors should email, Discovery_bazaar@outlook.com.
FUNDACION ABRIGO
– Once again, Discovery
School supports Fundación Abrigo in their mission to lodge families from the
rural areas who come to Hospital Escuela. We are asking our school
families to send 1 gallon of floor disinfectant per family, and to
send it in by Friday, October 30. What a wonderful way to show our gratitude for
what we have – to share what we have with those in need!

VISITA DEL EQUIPO DE REVISION EXTERNA (ERT) DE
ADVANCED – La escuela estará
recibiendo al Equipo de Revisión Externa este fin de semana, y estaremos
trabajando el domingo. El equipo de AdvancED nos visitará del 18 – 22 de
octubre. El Equipo ha extendido una
invitación abierta a los padres para reunirse con ellos el día martes 20 de
octubre, de 2:15 a 3:15 p.m. Los padres de pre-escolar y primaria se
reunirán en el 2do piso en la Sala de Reuniones, y los padres de secundaria se
reunirán en el Centro de Información. Favor marque su calendario/agenda en caso
que esté interesado en asistir y ser parte de este proceso de acreditación.
CONFERENCIAS - Favor recuerde que las conferencias
Alumno-Padre-Maestro para el primer trimestre son OBLIGATORIAS en la Escuela Discovery. Los padres de
Pre-escolar y Primaria recibirán la notificación con la hora, el próximo lunes
19 de octubre. Los alumnos y padres de Secundaria pueden recoger sus
calificaciones con cada maestro guía del
alumno, y pueden hablar con los maestros atendiéndoles según orden de llegada.
NUEVO HORARIO DE MAP – Favor vea abajo el nuevo horario que seguiremos
para completar las sesiones de exámenes.
Los reportes y metas anuales de MAP serán discutidos con los padres en
las conferencias de Alumno-Padres del 23 de octubre.
REUNIONES DE ALUMNOS DE SECUNDARIA CON DR. K – Dr. Ketterer se reunirá con alumnos según el
horario descrito a continuación:

16 de octubre es la última sesión del modulo actual, de 3:15 a 4:15 p.m. También
queremos adelantarles que el segundo módulo comenzará la primera semana de
noviembre.
Preparativos para Día de Naciones Unidas DPTO– El DPTO ha iniciado los preparativos para la
celebración de nuestra escuela del Día de Naciones Unidas este viernes 30 de
octubre, desde las 8:30 a.m. a las 11:30 a.m. Todas las familias de la escuela
están invitadas a participar y representar a su país de origen. Si tiene un
traje típico de su país, y desea participar en el desfile anual, favor

BAZAR DE NAVIDAD – EN BUSCA DE VENDEDORES – El Club de Manos Amigas de Discovery, un club de
servicio comunitario que beneficia al orfanato Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos
estará realizando un Bazar Navideño. Los vendedores interesados deben enviar un
correo electrónico a Discovery_bazaar@outlook.com .
FUNDACION
ABRIGO – Una vez
más, la Escuela Discovery está apoyando a la Fundación Abrigo en su misión de
dar habitación a las familias de las áreas rurales que van al Hospital Escuela.
Estamos solicitando a las familias de la escuela que envíen 1 galón de
desinfectante de piso por familia, para antes del viernes 30 de octubre. Que
maravillosa manera de mostrar nuestra gratitud por lo que tenemos—compartiendo
con aquellos que tienen necesidad!
