SEMANA DEL IDIOMA ESPAÑOL – Please
be advised that April 18 to 23 the Spanish Department will be carrying out a
number of activities to commemorate El Dia del Idioma Español (April 23).
SECONDARY NEWS:
7th
GRADE FIELD TRIP – As an
extension of the science curriculum (Weather Patterns), the 7th
graders will visit the aerial base, Hernan Acosta Mejia, and get to see
firsthand the hurricane hunter airplane, WC-130J. The students will also hear
about how the airplane is used to gather information for scientists to study
hurricanes. The field trip will take place on Wednesday, April 13.
JUNIOR CLASS
TRIP – The 11th graders
will be participating in an educational trip to Tela. They will be accompanied
by Ms. Gloria. The students will be gone from Monday, April 18 – Thursday,
April 21.
DAILY ATTENDANCE
– We would like to remind parents that it is extremely important that your
child arrives to school on time EVERY
DAY. By getting to school on time, your child is able to organize his/her
locker and backpack, turn in all homework, and still have time to meet and
greet his friends. When your child is late to school, he comes to class
stressed out, interrupts the class, and misses important information given by
the teacher at the beginning of the class. We strongly recommend your child
arrives to school by 7:45 a.m. There is a warning bell @ 7:55 and then classes
begin promptly @ 8:00 a.m.

CAREER DAY: We will be
having Career Day here in school on Wednesday, April 13, from 8:30 a.m. to
11:00 a.m. We have invited several professionals from our Discovery School
community as well from the outside to share with our students their experiences
and thoughts about the career they chose to pursue. Grades 9th
through 12th and all parents are invited to attend.
SCHOLASTIC NEWS - Scholastic
Books are here! They will be distributed this week to the students who placed
an order. Hope your kids have a great time reading these fabulous books!
PICAMIEJO
PRESENTATION – We are inviting all our students in grades 1-11 to
the Picamiejo presentation that will take place at our school on Wednesday,
April 20 at 9:00 a.m. The cost of this presentation is L100 per student, and
this is one of many activities that we have planned for La Semana Del Idioma
Español. There will be a follow up literary discussion and extension project
concerning this presentation. Please bring the L100 to your Spanish teacher as
soon as possible.

GARAGE - The
DPTO invites all our families to participate and/or attend our annual garage
sale on Saturday, April 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00. You can purchase your table

NOTICIAS DE SECUNDARIA:
PASEO DE LOS ALUMNOS DE 7MO
GRADO – Como una extensión del
currículo de ciencias (Patrones del Clima), los alumnos del 7mo
grado estarán visitando la base aérea, Hernán Acosta Mejia, y observar de cerca
los aviones caza huracanes, WC-130J. Los alumnos también escucharán acerca como
los aviones son usados para recolectar información para que los científicos
estudien los huracanes. El paseo se realizará el día miércoles 13 de abril.
VIAJE DE LOS JUNIORS – Los alumnos de 11vo grado estarán
participando en un viaje educativo a Tela. Serán acompañados por Ms. Gloria.
Los alumnos estarán ausentes del lunes 18 al jueves 21 de abril.
ASISTENCIA DIARIA – Queremos recordarles a los padres que es
extremadamente importante que sus hijos lleguen a la escuela a tiempo TODOS LOS DÍAS. Al llegar a tiempo, le
da tiempo a su hijo(a) a organizar su casillero y mochila, entregar las tareas,
y todavía tener tiempo para saludar a sus amigos. Cuando su hijo(a) llega
tarde, llega a las clases estresado, interrumpe la clase, y se pierde de
información importante que los maestros dan al inicio de la clase. Firmemente
les recomendamos que sus hijos lleguen a la escuela antes de las 7:45 a.m. Suena
una campana de aviso a las 7:55 a.m. y las clases comienzan a las 8:00 a.m. en
punto.

DÍA DE PROFESIONES: Estaremos realizando el Día de Profesiones aquí en la escuela el día miércoles 13 de abril, de 8:30 a.m. a 11:00 a.m. Hemos invitado a
varios profesionales de nuestra comunidad en la Escuela Discovery así como de
afuera, a venir y compartir con nuestros alumnos sus experiencias y
pensamientos acerca de la carrera que ellos decidieron tomar. Los alumnos de 9no
a 12vo y todos los padres están invitados a asistir.
NOTICIAS DE SCHOLASTIC: Los libros de Scholastic ya están aquí! Se
distribuirán esta semana a los alumnos que hicieron las ordenes. Esperamos que
sus hijos disfruten leyendo estos fabulosos libros!
PRESENTACION DE PICAMIEJO – Estamos invitando a todos nuestros alumnos de 1-11
grado a la presentación de Picamiejo que se realizará en nuestra escuela el día
miércoles 20 de abril, a las 9:00 a.m. El costo de esta presentación es de
L100.00 por alumno, y esta es una de las muchas actividades que se tienen
planificadas para la Semana del Idioma Español. Tendremos una discusión
literaria como seguimiento a esta presentación y otro proyecto relacionado a
esta. Favor enviar los L100.00 a su maestro de español tan pronto como le
