SON PLANS – VIRTUAL EDUCATION LES
As the presidential inauguration draws nearer, there is a substantial amount of rumor that possible demonstrations and road closures will happen throughout the city. The Administration and the Board of Directors will be monitoring news and information very closely, and will be working jointly, as it did in the aftermath of the elections, to make the best decisions that ensure our students´ safety. These scenarios may include going to a shortened school day (from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) having a late start to school (begin classes at 10:00 a.m.) or cancelling a school day all together. In the event of the latter one, we want to reassure our parents that our teachers are prepared with a week´s worth of virtual (online) education – so while your child may not be in school “physically”, learning is still going on with the guide of our teachers.
Please be vigilant and on the look out for official emails that will communicate any decision that is made regarding adjustments to regular functioning.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this, please let your area coordinator know.

PLANES DE CLASES DE EDUCACIÓN VIRTUAL -
A medida que se acerca la inauguración presidencial, hay una gran cantidad de rumores de posibles manifestaciones y tomas de carreteras que ocurrirán en toda la ciudad. La Administración y la Junta Directiva supervisarán las noticias y la información muy de cerca, y trabajarán conjuntamente, como lo hicieron después de las elecciones, para tomar las mejores decisiones que garanticen la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes. Estos escenarios pueden incluir ir a un día escolar corto (de 9:00 a.m. a 1:00 p.m.) tener un comienzo tardío de la escuela (comenzar las clases a las 10:00 a.m.) o cancelar el día escolar . En caso de este último, queremos asegurarles a nuestros padres de familia que nuestros maestros están preparados con una semana de educación virtual (en línea), así que mientras su hijo (a) no esté en la escuela "de manera presencial", el aprendizaje continúa con la guía de nuestros maestros.
Favor estar atentos a los correos electrónicos oficiales que comunicarán cualquier decisión que se tome con respecto a los ajustes del funcionamiento normal.

REMINDER OF CHANGES IN OUR SCHOOL CALENDAR –
The projected four early release days for the second semester will now become full school days. They are February 23, March 23, April 27 and May 23. This was approved by the Board on January 12, 2018. Please adjust your calendars.

A GIFT OF FRIENDSHIP FOR NPH
|

Celebrate the Gift of Friendship- Discovery School has developed a lasting friendship with many of the children at the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos orphanage. We would like to extend an invitation for more members of the Discovery community to develop these friendships. There are two ways to help:
- Join the Community Service Club. Contact Mrs. Agurcia (cagurcia@discoveryschool.edu.hn) for more about this club.
- Donate a pair of tennis shoes or socks for to be given to the children at this year's Valentine's friendship party.
Hearts with the child's name and size are found on the bulletin board on the second floor of the secondary building. Purchase the shoes or socks and return the item, unwrapped, with the heart tag attached, to Mrs. Agurcia's classroom (Secondary building, Room 7) by Thursday, February 1.

Celebrar el don de la amistad: Discovery School ha desarrollado una amistad duradera con muchos de los niños del orfanato Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos. Nos gustaría extender una invitación para que más miembros de la comunidad Discovery desarrollen estas amistades. Hay dos formas de ayudar:
1) Unirse al Club de Servicio Comunitario. Contactar a Ms. Christina Agurcia (cagurcia@discoveryschool.edu.hn) para más información sobre este club.
2) Donar un par de tenis o calcetines para ser entregados a los niños en la fiesta del Amor y la Amistad San Valentín de este año.
Los corazones con el nombre y el tamaño de tenis del niño se encuentran en el boletín de anuncios en el segundo piso del edificio de secundaria. Compre los zapatos o calcetines y entregarlos sin envolver, con la etiqueta del corazón adjunta, a la clase de la Mrs. Agurcia (edificio secundario, salón # 7) antes del jueves 1 de febrero.

es una herramienta muy útil para hacer un seguimiento de la tarea, exámenes y exámenes, etc. El calendario de tareas se encuentra dentro de cada blog.

Chequear frecuentemente las cuentas para monitorear el progreso de su hijo (a).
COMUNICACIÓN: si hay una consulta que desea discutir con respecto a los blogs, el calendario de tareas y / o Engrade, favor de enviar un correo electrónico
AUSENCIAS DEL ESTUDIANTE: si su hijo (a) está enfermo, envíe un correo electrónico a Ms. Gloria Palacios gpalacios@discoveryschool.edu.hn para que pueda excusar a su hijo (a) e informar a todos los maestros.
EXÁMENES DE NIVELACIÓN: los estudiantes que obtuvieron una calificación inferior al 70% durante el segundo trimestre deberán realizar los exámenes de nivelación del 24 al 26 de enero.

Scholastic News: Scholastic Book Club leaflets will be given out this week .This is an optional activity offered by the school, because we know you want to motivate your child to read at home. With your purchase, our library will accumulate points to redeem more books for the benefit of your children in our school. The due date to purchase the books online is February 5. The books will arrive to the school in one single delivery, and we will distribute them to the students according to their orders, approximately three weeks after the purchase due date.

Noticias de Scholastic: Los Folletos del Club de libros de Scholastic serán entregados esta semana. Esta es una actividad opcional ofrecida por la escuela, ya que buscamos motivar a su hijo (a) la lectura en casa. Con su compra, nuestra biblioteca acumulará puntos para canjear más libros que beneficiaran a sus hijos (as) en la escuela. La fecha límite para la compra de los libros en línea es el 5 de febrero. Los libros llegarán a la escuela en un solo paquete, y los distribuiremos a los estudiantes según el pedido, aproximadamente tres semanas después de la fecha límite de la compra.
