MIDTERM PROGRESS REPORTS – The Midterm Progress Reports for the fourth quarter were sent home last Friday. Please review them, sign them, and send them back to school. If you would like a conference and one was not requested by a teacher, please call the school to make an appointment.

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS –The Spring General Assembly will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12. Among other important items on the agenda, four new members will need to be elected for the Board of Directors, the budget for 2018-2019 will be presented for approval, and a formal presentation of our future Head of School, Mr. Kenneth Davis, will be done. It is very important for our parents to attend this assembly. As always, childcare will be provided.

TRANSITION VISIT- Mr. Kenneth Davis, our future Head of School, will be visiting the school from May 8 to May 12, meeting with the administrative team, teachers, parents and students. He will also be attending our Spring General Assembly on Saturday, May 12.

SPRING CONCERT –
Please mark your calendars for the first SPRING CONCERT that will take place on Wednesday May, 23 (which is no longer an early dismissal day) from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Our students modified their performances from the cancelled Songfest back in December and are ready to showcase their growth and improvement in Music class. Please join us for a musical afternoon!

CAFETERIA CREDITS
Our accounting practices request us close the credit in our cafeteria on May 20. The cafeteria will remain functioning as usual, but only pre-paid credit will be extended. We ask parents for their cooperation by asking their students to establish a pre-paid balance, or pay in cash when they purchase their snacks or meals.

Nuestras prácticas de contabilidad requieren que cerremos el crédito en nuestra cafetería el 20 de mayo. La cafetería seguirá funcionando como siempre, pero solo habrá crédito pre-pagado. Les solicitamos a los padres de familia su cooperación pidiéndoles a sus hijos que abran un credito con un saldo pre-pagado, o bien que compren en efectivo sus bocadillos y/o comidas.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL VISITS
The Museo de Identidad Nacional (MIN)

On Wednesday, May 9, students from grades two, three, four, and five will be visiting the Museo de Identidad Nacional (MIN) for their Spanish Social Studies class.
We will be leaving at 8:15 a.m. and should be back before lunch time. We ask that students have a hearty breakfast as they will not be allowed to enter the museum with food.
We need at least TWO parents to help chaperone each grade. Upon receiving the field trip permission form, please indicate if you would be willing to help us with this.

El miércoles 9 de mayo, los estudiantes de los grados segundo, tercero, cuarto y quinto visitarán el Museo de Identidad Nacional (MIN) para su clase de estudios sociales en español.
Saldremos a las 8:15 a.m. y deberíamos regresar antes de la hora del almuerzo. Les pedimos a los estudiantes que tengan un desayuno abundante ya que no se les permitirá ingresar comida al museo.
Necesitamos al menos DOS padres de cada grado como chaperones y acompañarlos en esta actividad. Al recibir el formulario de permiso de salida, favor indicar si estaría dispuesto a ayudarnos con esto.

We have been invited to participate in the tournament “EL RETO DEL DRAGON” that will take place on Sunday, May 19 at 9:00 in the American School Gymnasium.
Our students can participate in the “Exhibition” and “Additional” categories. The registration fees for these categories are L300.00 and L170.00 which will be paid on site.
A note to parents will be going out next week.

Hemos sido invitados a participar en el torneo "EL RETO DEL DRAGON" que tendrá lugar el domingo 19 de mayo a las 9:00 a.m. en el Gimnasio de la Escuela Americana.
Nuestros estudiantes pueden participar en las categorías "Exhibición" y "Adicional". Los pagos de la inscripción para estas categorías son de L300.00 y L170.00 que se pagarán en el gimnasio.

ATTENDANCE - Traffic is difficult for everybody in the city. Please make the necessary arrangements so your child arrives to school before 7:55 am.

We remind all parents and students to check the blogs every Monday (preferably) in order to be informed of the week’s content.
HOMEWORK CALENDAR –
is a very useful tool to keep track of homework, quizzes and tests, etc. The homework calendar is located within every blog.
