END OF THE FIRST QUARTER, REPORT CARDS AND CONFERENCES - With the School's 25th Anniversary Celebration, the Honduran Independence Day festivities, and the Semana Morazanica, it is hard to believe that we have wrapped up the first quarter at Discovery School on Friday, October 12.
Our teachers and students are preparing themselves for the Student Led Conferences that will take place on Friday, October 19. Important information such as the First Quarter Report Cards, MAP reports and Goal Setting Sheets will be shared with parents and students on this day.
EARLY CHILDHOOD AND ELEMENTARY TEACHERS will be sending Conference Notes home today, notifying parents the time their conference is scheduled for.
MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND PARENTS can come talk to teachers on a first come-first serve basis.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE that conferences are mandatory for the first quarter. If for some reason you cannot attend the conference scheduled for Friday, reports cards will be held until the conference is rescheduled.

FIN DEL PRIMER PARCIAL, REPORTE DE CALIFICACIONES Y CONFERENCIAS - Como la celebración del 25 aniversario de la Escuela, las festividades del Día de la Independencia de Honduras y la Semana Morazánica, es difícil creer que hemos terminado el primer parcial en la Escuela Discovery el viernes 12 de octubre.
Nuestros maestros y estudiantes se están preparando para las Conferencias dirigidas por los alumnos que se llevarán a cabo el viernes 19 de octubre. Información importante como los Reporte de calificaciones del primer parcial, los reportes del MAP y las hojas de metas estudiantiles se compartirán con los padres de familia y estudiantes en este día.
MAESTROS DE PRE-ESCOLAR Y PRIMARIA enviarán las Notas con las citas para la Conferencia a casa hoy, la cual notifica a los padres de familia la hora establecida para la conferencia.
LOS ESTUDIANTES Y PADRES DE FAMILIA DE SECUNDARIA pueden hablar con los maestros por orden de llegada.
FAVOR TOMAR NOTA que las conferencias son obligatorias para el primer parcial. Si por alguna razón no puede asistir a la conferencia programada para el viernes, los maestros retendrán los reportes de calificaciones hasta que se lleve acabo la conferencia.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE/ RECYCLING PROJECT

ELEMENTARY STUDENTS - This year the Environmental Student Council will be holding elections again for Environmental Ambassadors on Tuesday, October 30th. We welcome any students who would like to be Environmental Ambassadors to prepare a short speech which will be presented at lunch Monday, October 29th. Students should be responsible, friendly individuals with a passion for helping the environment . If you are interested please contact Mr. Andrew.

ESTUDIANTES DE PRIMARIA - Este año el Consejo Ambiental Estudiantil estará llevando a cabo sus elecciones para los Embajadores Ambientales el dia martes 30 de octubre. Animamos a los estudiantes que quieran ser Embajadores Ambientales a preparar un pequeño discurso para ser presentado a la hora de almuerzo el dia lunes 29 de octubre. Estos estudiantes deben ser alumnos responsable, amigables y apasionados por el medio ambiente. Si algún estudiante está interesado, favor hablar con Mr. Andrew.

BOOK CHARACTER DAY AT DISCOVERY SCHOOL
|
|
|
|
In keeping with Discovery School tradition, children in the Early Childhood and Elementary are invited to dress up as their favorite book character on Wednesday, October 31. A note will go home with the Elementary Students for parents to fill out with their child and return to school. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will set up a live interactive museum that day, which will last from 8:50-9:40 a.m. This will allow the younger students to come and learn about new book characters. Parents are welcome to come and meet all the exciting characters and learn about some new books.

Siguiendo la tradición en Discovery School, invitamos a los alumnos de preescolar y primaria a vestirse como su personaje favorito de un libro el dia miercoles 31 de octubre. Se ha enviado una nota a casa con los alumnos de primaria, la cual debe ser llenada y devuelta a la escuela. Los alumnos del 3er, 4to y 5to grado tendrán un museo interactivo de 8:50 a 9:45 a.m. Esto permitirá que los más pequeños puedan aprender de estos personajes y libros. Invitamos a los padres a asistir y conocer a estos personajes!

Our annual UN Day Celebration is just around the corner!!!!! Please help us make it a huge success!!! The event will take place on Friday, October 26. As you all know, this celebration highlights the cultural diversity and richness which makes Discovery School such a great place. We currently have 22 nationalities represented in our school, and are counting on our parents so that all of these nationalities are represented that day. FUNDACION ABRIGO is a shelter that provides lodging for families from outside Tegucigalpa who bring patients to Hospital Escuela. Discovery School has been a partner in solidarity with Fundacion Abrigo for the past years. In keeping with our support to this noble cause, we are asking for a donation of 1 gallon of disinfectant per family. Please send us your donation per family by Wednesday, October 31.

IMPORTANT
- ELECTRONIC DEVICES - as part of their school supplies, students are required to bring a laptop or a tablet with a keyboard in order to work in class. The use of cell phones as a working device will no longer be allowed as it not appropriate for typing and it also creates distraction with the use of social media. Laptops and tablets connect through our school’s wifi and allows us to control the child’s content.

ATTENDANCE - Traffic is difficult for everybody in the city. Please make the necessary arrangements so your child arrives to school before 7:55 am.

HOMEWORK CALENDAR –
This is a very useful tool to keep track of homework, quizzes and tests, etc. The homework calendar is located within every grade’s blog.

IMPORTANTE
- DISPOSITIVOS ELECTRÓNICOS: como parte de los útiles escolares, los estudiantes deben traer una computadora portátil o una tableta con un teclado para poder trabajar en clase. El uso de teléfonos celulares como un dispositivo de trabajo ya no se permitirá, ya que no es apropiado para escribir y también crea distracción con el uso de las redes sociales. Las computadoras portátiles y las tabletas se conectan a través del wifi de nuestra escuela y nos permiten controlar el contenido.
