CONGRATULATIONS DISCOVERY ARTISTS AND MUSICIANS!
A group of students (artists, choir members and musicians) attended the ABSH Music and Art Festival held at a local school here in Tegucigalpa. Their dedication, hard work and excellence made it possible once more for Discovery School to be very well represented. We thank Ms. Soraya Reichmann, Ms. Norma López, Ms. Pamela Cruz and Mr. Cesar Morga for their time and effort to help our students shine. We also thank our parents for supporting our students in their artistic endeavours. Our magnificent results at the event are as follows:

FELICITACIONES A LOS ARTISTAS Y MÚSICOS DE DISCOVERY!
Un grupo de estudiantes (artistas, miembros del coro y músicos) asistieron al Festival de Música y Arte ABSH que se llevó a cabo en una escuela local aquí en Tegucigalpa. Su dedicación, trabajo arduo y excelencia hicieron posible una vez más que Discovery School estuviera muy bien representada. Agradecemos a Ms. Soraya Reichmann, Ms. Norma López, Ms. Pamela Cruz y a Mr. Cesar Morga por su tiempo y esfuerzo para ayudar a nuestros estudiantes a brillar. We thank the families who have come forth and sent their L150 contribution for the Support Personnel Holiday Baskets. However, we are still far from reaching the goal. INTERNAL LANGUAGE ARTS COMPETITION
|
|
|
Our students grades one to twelve participated in the internal Language Arts Competition on Friday, November 2. Students competed in Spelling, Ortografia, Speech and Oratoria. The winners will be representing the school at the ABSH Language Arts Festival which will be held in Tegucigalpa on February 16, 2019. Our teachers have begun weekly training/practice sessions with our students to prepare them for this event.

Nuestros estudiantes del primer al duodécimo grado participaron en la competencia interna de artes del lenguaje el viernes 2 de noviembre. Los estudiantes compitieron en ortografía y oratoria. Los ganadores representarán a la escuela en el ABSH Festival de Artes del Lenguaje que se llevará a cabo en Tegucigalpa, el 16 de febrero de 2019. Nuestros maestros han comenzado las sesiones de entrenamiento / práctica semanales con nuestros estudiantes para prepararlos para este evento.

BLACK WEDNESDAY BOOK SALE
|

OUR WOLVES ARE READERS, AND WE KNOW IT!
This Wednesday, November 21, the school is offering all our students the opportunity to purchase interesting fiction and nonfiction books in English, Spanish and French, at incredible prices (ranging from $3 - $7 each). We hope our students will seize this opportunity and purchase many books. RAMSES (the editorial who is sponsoring this event) will be setting up their books after lunch on Tuesday. Teachers are encouraged to take their students to preview books of their interest, and parents are invited to come check the selection of books out. Just like with Scholastic, RAMSES has offered to donate books and resources for our school based on the student´ purchases, so let's all buy books!!!

¡A NUESTROS LOBOS QUE SON LECTORES, Y LO SABEMOS!
Este miércoles 21 de noviembre, la escuela está ofreciendo a todos nuestros estudiantes la oportunidad de comprar libros interesantes de ficción y no ficción en inglés, español y francés, a precios increíbles (desde $ 3 a $ 7 cada uno). Esperamos que nuestros estudiantes aprovechen esta oportunidad y compren muchos libros. RAMSES (la editorial que patrocina este evento) preparará sus libros después del almuerzo del martes. Se le motiva a los maestros a que lleven a sus alumnos a una vista previa de los libros de su interés, y los padres de familia están invitados a visitar la selección de libros. Al igual que con Scholastic, RAMSES ha ofrecido donar libros y recursos para nuestra escuela en base a las compras de los estudiantes, ¡así que todos a comprar libros!

IMPORTANT
- ELECTRONIC DEVICES - as part of their school supplies, students are required to bring a laptop or a tablet with a keyboard in order to work in class. The use of cell phones as a working device will no longer be allowed as it not appropriate for typing and it also creates distraction with the use of social media. Laptops and tablets connect through our school’s wifi and allows us to control the child’s content.
REMINDERS
ATTENDANCE - Traffic is difficult for everybody in the city. Please make the necessary arrangements so your child arrives to school before 7:55 am.
BLOGS –
we remind all parents and students to check the blogs every Monday afternoon (preferably) in order to be informed of the week’s content. Click on the tab labeled “Blog Links” in our school’s page http://discoveryschool.edu.hn/secondary
HOMEWORK CALENDAR –
This is a very useful tool to keep track of homework, quizzes and tests, etc. The homework calendar is located within every grade’s blog.

IMPORTANTE
- DISPOSITIVOS ELECTRÓNICOS: como parte de los útiles escolares, los estudiantes deben traer una computadora portátil o una tableta con un teclado para poder trabajar en clase. El uso de teléfonos celulares como un dispositivo de trabajo ya no se permitirá, ya que no es apropiado para escribir y también crea distracción con el uso de las redes sociales. Las computadoras portátiles y las tabletas se conectan a través del wifi de nuestra escuela y nos permiten controlar el contenido.

ASISTENCIA - El tráfico es difícil para todos en la ciudad. Favor de tomar las medidas necesarias para que su hijo (a) llegue a la escuela antes de las 7:55 am.

Seniors News - We are happy to share with you the great news that our senior, Astrid Lara, has been recently admitted to her first choice institution,Thompson Rivers University in Canada. Kudos to you , Astrid!
On the same note, we congratulate our student, Juan Carlos Mejía, for his admission to Universidad Europea del Atlántico in Spain. We are so proud of you, Juan Carlos!
