CONGRATULATIONS WOLVES! Once again, the young men of our Basketball teams have made us proud! They represented us with skills and talent, dedication and sportsmanship in last week’s ABSH Basketball Tournament in San Pedro Sula. They were cheered not only by their coaches, parents and other schools, but also by our mascot WOLFGANG who traveled with them! The Basketball team won Sportmanship Award and Second Place Award! We congratulate the fine athletes for their hard work, and for carrying the name of Discovery School high and proud! GO WOLVES!

¡FELICITACIONES A LOS LOBOS!
¡Una vez más, los jóvenes de nuestros equipos de baloncesto nos han hecho sentir orgullosos! Nos representaron con habilidades y talento, dedicación y espíritu deportivo en el Torneo de Baloncesto ABSH de la semana pasada en San Pedro Sula. Fueron ovacionados no solo por sus entrenadores, padres y otras escuelas, sino también por nuestra mascota WOLFGANG que viajó con ellos. El equipo de Baloncesto ganó el premio de Espíritu Deportivo y son Sub-Campeones. Les felicitamos por su arduo trabajo y por llevar el nombre de Discovery School a un nivel alto y orgulloso. ¡VAMOS LOBOS!

SCHOOL CLIMATE SURVEYS- The next week our community will be completing Climate Surveys as part of our AdvancEd accreditation requirements.
- Students and teachers will be completing the survey at school this week.
HOLIDAY BASKETS CONTRIBUTION - Please help us share with our maintenance, support, office and security staff by sending your family contribution of L 150 before Friday, November 16. Please place your contribution in a sealed envelope with your family name, and send it to school or give it to one of your homeroom teachers. These proceeds will be used to buy the staples for the Holiday Baskets that will be given out before the Holiday Break.

ENCUESTAS DEL AMBIENTE ESCOLAR:
La próxima semana, nuestra comunidad completará las Encuestas del Ambiente Escolar como parte de nuestros requisitos de acreditación AdvancEd.
- Los estudiantes y los maestros estarán completando la encuesta en la escuela.
CONTRIBUCIÓN DE CANASTAS NAVIDEÑAS - Por favor apoyemos y compartamos con nuestro personal de mantenimiento, limpieza y seguridad enviando la contribución por familia de L 150 antes del viernes 16 de noviembre. Por favor, colocar su contribución en un sobre sellado con el nombre de su familia, y enviarlo a la escuela o entregarlo al maestro guía del aula. Está contribución se utilizara para comprar los alimentos básicos para las canastas navideñas que se entregarán antes de las vacaciones.

Our wolves continue working hard, in preparation for their upcoming events:
ABSH Music and Art Festival (Nov 15-17) -
We are proud to announce that Discovery School will be participation in ABSH Music and Art Festival in La Estancia School in Tegucigalpa.
- Art - Students will be competing in the following categories: Mixed media, Watercolors and pastels, drawing with graphite and coloring pencils, painting and sculpture.
- Music - Students will be competing with the Choir, the Jazz Band, vocal solos, piano and violin soloists.
Parents and students are welcome to attend and support our talented students!

Nos enorgullece anunciar que Discovery School participará en el Festival de Música y Arte ABSH en La Estancia School en Tegucigalpa.
- Arte: los estudiantes competirán en las siguientes categorías: técnica mixta, acuarelas y pasteles, dibujo con grafito y lápices de colores, pintura y escultura.
- Música: los estudiantes competirán con el coro, la banda de jazz, solos vocales, solistas de piano y violín.
¡Los padres y los estudiantes son bienvenidos a asistir y apoyar a nuestros estudiantes talentosos!

BLACK WEDNESDAY will take place on November 21, and will give the opportunity to our student body to purchase interesting fiction and nonfiction books in English, Spanish and French, at incredible prices (ranging from $3 - $7 each). We hope our students will seize this opportunity and purchase many books.

BLACK WEDNESDAY se llevará a cabo el 21 de noviembre y se le dará la oportunidad a nuestros estudiantes de comprar libros interesantes de ficción y no ficción en inglés, español y francés, a precios increíbles (desde $ 3 a $ 7 cada uno). THANKSGIVING MENU AT DISCOVERY SCHOOL

Our cafeteria personnel has prepared a delicious menu for our students to enjoy on Wednesday, November 21. You will find the options for this day by clicking on the following link. Pre-ordering forms will be sent next week, and will need to be returned no later than Friday, November 16. Only pre ordered meals will be served that day! Please make sure you plan accordingly.

El personal de nuestra cafetería ha preparado un delicioso menú para que nuestros estudiantes disfruten el miércoles 21 de noviembre. EARLY CHILHOOD HEALTH FAIR

Early Childhood is offering a vision and dental screening for your child. The vision testing will be done by optometrists from Optica Centro Clínico and the dental examination by Dental CPO (Central de Profilaxis Odontológico). This service is free of cost and will take place Thursday, November 15 and Friday November 16, 2018. Permission slips will be sent soon.

En Pre-escolar se le esta ofreciendo una revisión de la vista y dental para su hijo (a). Las pruebas de la vista serán realizadas por optometristas de la Óptica Centro Clínico y el examen dental por Dental CPO (Central de Profilaxis Odontológico). Este servicio es gratuito y se llevará a cabo el jueves 15 de noviembre y el viernes 16 de noviembre de 2018. Pronto se enviarán los formularios de permiso.

IMPORTANT
- ELECTRONIC DEVICES - as part of their school supplies, students are required to bring a laptop or a tablet with a keyboard in order to work in class. The use of cell phones as a working device will no longer be allowed as it not appropriate for typing and it also creates distraction with the use of social media. Laptops and tablets connect through our school’s wifi and allows us to control the child’s content.
REMINDERS
ATTENDANCE - Traffic is difficult for everybody in the city. Please make the necessary arrangements so your child arrives to school before 7:55 am.
BLOGS –
we remind all parents and students to check the blogs every Monday afternoon (preferably) in order to be informed of the week’s content. Click on the tab labeled “Blog Links” in our school’s page http://discoveryschool.edu.hn/secondary
HOMEWORK CALENDAR –
This is a very useful tool to keep track of homework, quizzes and tests, etc. The homework calendar is located within every grade’s blog.

IMPORTANTE
- DISPOSITIVOS ELECTRÓNICOS: como parte de los útiles escolares, los estudiantes deben traer una computadora portátil o una tableta con un teclado para poder trabajar en clase. El uso de teléfonos celulares como un dispositivo de trabajo ya no se permitirá, ya que no es apropiado para escribir y también crea distracción con el uso de las redes sociales. Las computadoras portátiles y las tabletas se conectan a través del wifi de nuestra escuela y nos permiten controlar el contenido.
RECORDATORIOS:
ASISTENCIA - El tráfico es difícil para todos en la ciudad. Favor de tomar las medidas necesarias para que su hijo (a) llegue a la escuela antes de las 7:55 am.
