MATHCOUNTS AT EL SALVADOR
Last week a group of 12 students along with Ms. Regina and Ms. Gloria traveled to El Salvador to participate in the annual MATHCOUNTS event. This events is attended by more than 20 schools (250 students) from Central America. Our students have been working diligently all year in preparation for this event, under the tutelage of Ms. Regina Ochoa, Ms. Ashley Lardizabal and Mr. Cesar Martinez. We appreciate their sacrifice, dedication and excellence, and are both grateful and proud for their magnificent performance at the event.

CAMPOS DE MATEMÁTICAS EN EL SALVADOR
La semana pasada, un grupo de 12 estudiantes junto con Ms. Regina Ochoa y Ms. Gloria Palacios viajaron a El Salvador para participar en la competencia anual de matemáticas MATHCOUNTS. De 20 colegios (250 alumnos) de Centroamérica. Nuestros estudiantes han estado trabajando diligentemente todo el año en preparación para este evento, bajo la tutela de Ms. Regina Ochoa, Ms. Ashley Lardizabal y Mr. Cesar Martínez. Apreciamos su sacrificio, dedicación y excelencia, y estamos agradecidos y orgullosos por su magnífico desempeño en el evento.

FUN RUN AND FAMILY GAMES BY THE DPTO
|

|
|
Attention Parents: the Pledge Forms for the DPTO Fun Run & Family Games will go home today.
Each student is encouraged to ask family members and friends to sponsor the laps they will run around the school campus during the Fun Run. If more space is needed, the back of the sheet can be used. Students are to turn in their pledge forms along with the money they raise at the registration desk on the day of the event.
Also, please remember that there will be opportunities for parents and children to play together in games of basketball (against our AASCA and ABSH champs), volleyball (girls’ new team) and soccer.
This activity is designed to give families a morning of fun and games. And of course, a COMPLIMENTARY (FREE!) PANCAKE AND FRUIT BREAKFAST is offered by the DPTO!

Atención Padres de Familia: los formularios para el Fun Run y los Juegos en Familia del DPTO se enviarán a casa hoy.
Se anima a cada estudiante a solicitarles a los familiares y amigos que patrocinen las vueltas que correrán por el campus escolar durante el Fun Run. Si se necesita más espacio, se puede usar la parte posterior de la hoja. Los estudiantes deben entregar sus formularios de compromiso junto con el dinero que recaudan en la mesa de inscripción el día del evento.
Además, recuerde que habrá oportunidades para que los padres y niños(as) jueguen baloncesto (contra nuestros campeones de AASCA y ABSH), voleibol (nuevo equipo femenino) y fútbol.
Esta actividad esta diseñada para darle a las familias una mañana de diversión y de juegos. Y, por supuesto, ¡El DPTO ofrece PANQUEQUES y un DESAYUNO DE FRUTA de cortesía!

SENIORS NEWS - Congratulations to Santiago Zelaya on his admission to Curry College in Massachusetts, U.S.A. Great Job, Santiago!
It brings us great pleasure to congratulate Laura Salazar on her acceptance to Maryland Institute College of Art ( MICA). MICA strongly believes in Laura's talent for the arts and that she will be a wonderful addition to their community , therefore, she is also recipient of a significant scholarship from them. We are so proud of you, Laura!
SCHOLASTIC NEWS: Scholastic Book Club leaflets were given out a few weeks ago. This is an optional activity offered by the school, because we know you want to motivate your child to read at home. With your purchase, our library will accumulate points to redeem more books for the benefit of your children in our school. The due date to purchase the books online is February 8, 2019. The books will arrive to the school in one single delivery, and we will distribute them to the students according to their orders, approximately three weeks after the purchase due date.
PSAT MEETING REMINDER: 10th grade parents to please make an appointment via email with Ms. Marilís Zambrana ( Counselor), to discuss your child's PSAT results.

NOTICIAS DE SENIORS - Felicitaciones a Santiago Zelaya por su admisión al Curry College, Massachusetts, EE. UU. ¡Gran trabajo, Santiago!
Nos complace felicitar a Laura Salazar por su aceptación en el Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). MICA cree firmemente en el talento de Laura para las artes y que ella será una adición maravillosa a su comunidad, por lo tanto, también recibe una importante beca de parte de ellos. Estamos muy orgullosos de ti, Laura!
NOTICIAS DE SCHOLASTIC: Hace unas semanas se repartieron folletos del Club de Libros Scholastic. Esta es una actividad opcional que ofrece la escuela, porque sabemos que quiere motivar a su hijo (a) a leer en casa. Con su compra, nuestra biblioteca acumulará puntos para canjear más libros en beneficio de sus hijos en nuestra escuela. La fecha limite para comprar los libros en línea son el 8 de febrero de 2019. Los libros llegarán a la escuela en una solo paquete y los distribuiremos a los estudiantes según el pedido, aproximadamente tres semanas después de la fecha límite de compra.
RECORDATORIO DE LA REUNIÓN DEL PSAT: los padres del 10º grado deben hacer una cita por correo electrónico con Ms. Marilís Zambrana (Consejera) para hablar sobre los resultados del PSAT de su hijo (a).
