CONGRATULATIONS CHOIR AND JAZZ BAND!
Last week our Choir and Jazz Band members participated in an intense four-day event for the AASCA MUSIC FESTIVAL and did a MARVELOUS job! We want to take this opportunity to congratulate them on their hard work for the preparation of this event, and for their positive attitude at the host school. Special appreciation goes out to the parents who were very supportive and collaborative, and to Ms. Pamela Cruz, Ms. Norma Lopez and Mr. Cesar Morga for their tireless dedication in the preparation of our students. Discovery School is very fortunate to have such great talent in our community!

¡FELICITACIONES AL CORO Y A LA BANDA DE JAZZ!
La semana pasada, los miembros de nuestro Coro y la Banda de Jazz participaron en un intenso evento de cuatro días para el FESTIVAL DE MÚSICA DE AASCA e hicieron un trabajo MARAVILLOSO. Queremos aprovechar esta oportunidad para felicitarlos por su arduo trabajo, por la preparación de este evento y por su actitud positiva en la escuela anfitriona. Un agradecimiento muy especial a los padres de familia que brindaron su gran apoyo y colaboración, y a Ms. Pamela Cruz, Ms. Norma Lopez y a Mr. Cesar Morga por su incansable dedicación en la preparación de nuestros estudiantes. ¡La Escuela Discovery es muy afortunada de tener tan gran talento en nuestra comunidad!

UPCOMING GENERAL ASSEMBLY
The summons for our Mid Year Informational General Assembly has been sent out! The Assembly will take place next Saturday, February 9 at 9:00 a.m. in the school’s cafeteria. Among other important information, we are excited to share the 2019-2020 School Calendar with the community. Also, for those who need it, child care will be provided by the school. We ask all parents to come and join us as we share updates of our school.

¡Se ha enviado la convocatoria de nuestra Asamblea General Informativa de mitad de año! La Asamblea tendrá lugar el próximo sábado 9 de febrero a las 9:00 a.m. en la cafetería de la escuela. Entre otra información importante, nos complace compartir el Calendario Escolar 2019-2020 con la comunidad. Además, para aquellos que lo necesiten, el cuidado de niños será proporcionado por la escuela. ABSH LANGUAGE ARTS FESTIVAL PRACTICES -
We are in the final stretch of preparation for the ABSH Language Festival which will take place on Saturday, February 16. Please make sure your child is attending their scheduled practices with the Language Arts Coaches.

FUN RUN AND FAMILY GAMES BY THE DPTO
|
|
|
The fifth graders spent several weeks last quarter creating Public Service Announcements for elementary students to promote the message of recess safety. Students wrote their own scripts, used storyboarding to plan each scene, and then recorded and edited their own short video, which was shared with elementary students. Along the way, students encountered various technical challenges and worked together to address them. It was a wonderful learning experience for them!

Los estudiantes de quinto grado pasaron varias semanas en el último trimestre creando Anuncios de Servicios Públicos para los estudiantes de primaria para promover el mensaje de seguridad durante el recreo. Los estudiantes escribieron sus propios guiones, utilizaron el guión gráfico para planear cada escena y luego grabaron y editaron su propio video corto, que se compartió con los estudiantes de primaria. En el camino, los estudiantes enfrentaron varios desafíos técnicos y trabajaron juntos para enfrentarlos. ¡Fue una experiencia de aprendizaje maravillosa para ellos!
