THIRD QUARTER REPORT CARDS - Report Cards for the third quarter were sent home today, Friday. If you would like to meet with a teacher and a conference was not requested, please contact the school and set up an appointment.

AASCA SPORTSMANSHIP FESTIVAL - Our 11 middle school students who traveled to the Panamerican School in Costa Rica to participate in the festival this week are doing a fantastic job of representing our school! We thank Ms. Yery Villeda, Mr. Alvin Cacho, and Mr. Steven Cacho for traveling with them and taking such good care of them, and to the parents for their continued support in the education of their children.

FESTIVAL DEPORTIVO DE AASCA - ¡Nuestros 11 estudiantes de secundaria quienes viajaron a la Escuela Panamericana en Costa Rica para participar en el festival esta semana, están haciendo un trabajo fantástico representando a nuestra escuela! Agradecemos a Ms. Yery Villeda, Mr. Alvin Cacho y Mr. Steven Cacho por viajar con ellos y cuidarlos, y a los padres de familia por su continuo apoyo en la educación de sus hijos (as).

ABSH MODEL UNITED NATIONS - 13 secondary students will travel to La Ceiba from March 28 - 31 in order to participate in the Model United Nations competition. The competition will be hosted by Mazapan School. We wish our delegates the best of luck. Thank you Mr. Stewart and Mr. Duryea for coaching our delegates.

ABSH MODELO DE NACIONES UNIDAS - 13 estudiantes de secundaria viajarán a La Ceiba del 28 al 31 de marzo para participar en la competencia de Modelo de Naciones Unidas. La competencia tiene como sede la Escuela Mazapán. Deseamos a nuestros delegados la mejor de las suertes. Gracias a Mr. Stewart y a Mr. Duryea por entrenar a nuestros delegados.

EARLY DISMISSAL THIS FRIDAY - We want to remind parents that Friday, March 29th is an Early Dismissal Day for our students. We will follow the A.M. schedule, and students will be released at 11:45 a.m. Our teachers have been working very hard in the Professional Development afternoons working towards their Level 1 Google Certification.

Academic Events in the Early Childhood and Elementary

In Early Childhood we learn about many things. We teach our children about sharing and helping. CEPUDO is a nonprofit organization that helps people in need. One of the activities they carry out is donating goodie bags to new mothers at Hospital Materno Infantil. These goodie bags are filled with essentials for mothers and babies. In the next few weeks, you will be receiving an EMPTY TOTE BAG, so you and your child, can go through their baby clothes and pick out items they would like to donate to others.

En Pre-escolar, aprendemos acerca de muchas cosas. Enseñamos a nuestros estudiantes a compartir y ayudar. CEPUDO es una organización sin fines de lucro que ayuda a las personas con poco recursos. Una de las actividades que realizan es donar bolsas de artículos necesarios a las nuevas madres en el Hospital Materno Infantil. Estas bolsas de regalos llenas de productos les ayudan a las madres y los bebés. En las próximas semanas, recibirá una BOLSA VACIA, para que usted y su hijo (a) puedan revisar la ropa usada de su hijo(a) cuando era bebé y elegir los artículos que les gustaría donar.

SCIENCE FAIR - Our teachers and students have been working very hard in preparation for the Science Fair. This event will take place on Friday, April 5, beginning at 11 a.m. Parents are welcome to visit the projects in grades K - 6, but may not be present when their child is being judged for the competition (grades 3-6). Awards will be given in an assembly before the end of the day.

FERIA DE CIENCIAS-Nuestros maestros y estudiantes han estado trabajando muy duro para prepararse para la Feria de Ciencias. Este evento se llevará a cabo el viernes 5 de abril, a partir de las 11 a.m. Los padres de familia son bienvenidos para visitar los proyectos en los grados de K -6. Sin embargo, los padres no deberán estar presentes cuando se evalúe a su hijo (a) para la competencia (grados 3-6). Los premios se entregarán en una asamblea antes de finalizar el día.

ABSH MATH OLYMPICS AND MATH BOWL - 13 secondary students will participate in:
- Basic Math, Pre Algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry exams.
- Cartesian and Euclidean categories.
The math competitions will be hosted by Palmeras Bilingual School in La Ceiba in April 5 - 6. We wish our mathletes the best. The group will travel with their coaches Ms. Ashley Lardizabal and Mr. Cesar Martinez.

ABSH MATH BOWL & MATH OLYMPICS- 13 estudiantes de secundaria participarán en:
- Exámenes de Matemáticas Básicas, Pre Álgebra, Álgebra 1 y Geometría.
- Categorías Cartesianas y Euclidianas.
Las competencias de matemáticas serán organizadas por la Escuela Bilingüe Palmeras en La Ceiba del 5 al 6 de abril. Deseamos a nuestros atletas de matemáticas lo mejor. El grupo viajará con sus entrenadores, Ms. Ashley Lardizabal y Mr. Cesar Martínez.

ABSH VOLLEYBALL - for the first time, the school will participate with a girls team in the pre-juvenile category. The event will be hosted by the Escuela Internacional Sampedrana on April 24 - 27. We wish our 11 girls the best. The group will travel with Ms. Yery and their coach.

SENIORS NEWS: It is of great pride for us to continue sharing great university admission news about our senior, Santiago Zelaya. His two most recent ones are to: Case Western Reserve University in Ohio and Fordham University in New York.
Case Western Reserve University is one of U.S.A.’s premier universities. It is recognized for its rigorous academic programs, research, and experiential learning opportunities. Case Western recognized Santiago’s strong academic and personal achievements.
Fordham University had more than forty seven thousand applicants and Santiago stood out of the applicants’ pool for both his academic and personal accomplishments.
Congratulations, Santiago!

NOTICIAS DE LOS SENIORS:
Es un gran orgullo para nosotros continuar compartiendo excelentes noticias de admisión a la universidad sobre nuestro estudiante de último año, Santiago Zelaya. Sus dos más recientes son: Case Western Reserve University en Ohio y Fordham University en Nueva York.
La Universidad Case Western Reserve es una de las universidades top de los EE. UU. Es reconocida por sus rigurosos programas académicos, investigación y oportunidades de aprendizaje experimental. Case Western reconoció los sólidos logros académicos y personales de Santiago.
La Universidad de Fordham tenía más de cuarenta y siete mil solicitantes y Santiago se destacó del grupo de aspirantes por sus logros académicos y personales.

SCHOLASTIC NEWS:
Scholastic Book Club leaflets were given out last week. This is an optional activity offered by the school, because we know you want to motivate your child to read at home. With your purchase, our library will accumulate points to redeem more books for the benefit of your children in our school. The due date to purchase the books online is April 5, 2019. The books will arrive to the school in one single delivery, and we will distribute them to the students according to their orders, approximately three weeks after the purchase due date.

NOTICIAS DE SCHOLASTIC:
Los folletos del Clud de Libros Scholastic fueron enviados la semana pasada. Esta es una actividad opcional que ofrece la escuela, porque sabemos que quiere motivar a su hijo (a) a leer en casa. Con su compra, nuestra biblioteca acumulará puntos para canjear más libros en beneficio de sus hijos (as) en nuestra escuela. La fecha límite para comprar los libros en línea es el 5 de abril de 2019. Los libros llegarán a la escuela en una solo paquete y los distribuiremos a los estudiantes según el pedido, aproximadamente tres semanas después de la fecha de límite de compra.
