AWARDS ASSEMBLY – The
school will be recognizing students with the President’s Education Awards for
Academic Excellence, Academic Achievement, and the American Citizenship Awards.
We will be also recognizing students who have represented the school in
different competitions both locally and nationally. The assembly will take place on Friday, May
27 @ 1:30 pm.

SECONDARY NEWS:
CHECKOUT LIST
(for secondary students only) – Secondary students need to complete a checkout
list in order to clear with the Administration and teachers before the end of
the year. This checkout list includes textbooks, reading novels, school
material, etc. Checkout lists will be given to students on Wednesday, May 25 and they need to be returned to Mrs. Gloria by Friday, June 3.

DISMISSAL
AFTER SEMESTER EXAMS(GRADES 8 – 12 ONLY) - Students
leaving after semester exams need a pass from the office in order to leave the
school campus. A written note or email from parents is requested in order to
issue a pass if leaving with a friend.
DAILY
ATTENDANCE – We would like to remind
parents that it is extremely important that your child arrives to school on
time EVERY DAY. By getting to school
on time, your child is able to organize his/her locker and backpack, turn in
all homework, and still have time to meet and greet his friends. When your
child is late to school, he come to class stressed out, interrupts the class,
and misses important information given by the teacher at the beginning of the
class. We strongly recommend your child arrives to school by 7:45 a.m. There is
a warning bell @ 7:55 and then classes begin promptly @ 8:00 a.m.

The Masters Program in London:
Parents of sophomores and juniors are all cordially
invited to attend a Skype presentation on The Masters Program (Insight into
Management) in London on Thursday,
May 26, at 12:00 p.m. in the
Conference Room. Your children already attended a preliminary presentation and
we hope you have already been briefed a little by them on what this experience
entails.
Some information on the program:
·
What is it? The Masters is a unique
international English language competition for students aged 16 and 18 years.
Schools are invited to participate with a team of high school students to take
part in an innovative international competition. The competition involves
designing and developing a product, which they will then pitch to a panel of
industry leaders. Students will work together as a team to consider all the facets
of their projected product. Throughout the course students will take lessons in
Business Management to develop their knowledge of the modern business world.

Benefits? Improve their language skills
related to business; Advance their leadership, teamwork, entrepreneurial and
communication skills; Prepare students for positions of responsibility in the
global market place; Experience new cultures; Visit some of the top rated
European companies; Visit the main tourist attractions in England and Paris
·
Awards? All students receive a medal
and certificate of participation; Academic scholarships in Germany
(universities) for the winning team
**PSAT Exam - A letter and an email were sent home to the parents
of the upcoming sophomores and a few
juniors about taking the PSAT exam on October19, 2016. Please return the hard
copy letter signed by June 3, 2016.
**Seniors News _ Congratulations to
our senior, Pamela Lopez, on her admission to St .Mary’s University in Texas. We are very proud you are one of
our DS wolves, Pamela!
SUMMER
CAMPS AT DISCOVERY SCHOOL - Just like last year, there will be two
summer camps in the month of June. Discovery Zone 7 will be a fun, artistic and
entertaining camp for children 3 to 9 years old. There will also be a
reinforcement camp for reading, writing and French for students in grades K-2.
Both camps will run from June 13 to July 1, with the same schedule (8:00 a.m.
to 12:00). Transportation is available at a small additional cost. If you or a
relative/friend is interested, more information can be given to you by Ms.
Carolina or at the accounting offices in school.

ASAMBLEA DE PREMIACION – La escuela estará reconociendo a los alumnos con los

locales como nacionales. La asamblea de premiación se realizará el viernes 27

LISTA DE REVISION FINAL (solamente para alumnos de secundaria) – los
alumnos de secundaria necesitan completar su lista de revisión final con la
Administración y los maestros para cumplir con los requisitos de fin de año.
Esta lista incluye confirmar el retorno de libros de texto, novelas, material
escolar, etc. Las listas se les entregaran a los alumnos el miércoles 25 de mayo y necesitan
regresarlas a Ms. Gloria antes del viernes

SALIDA DE ALUMNOS DESPUES DE EXÁMENES
SEMESTRALES (DE 8 A 12 GRADO SOLAMENTE)- Los alumnos que se van después de los exámenes semestrales necesitan un
pase de la oficina para salir de la escuela. Se requiere una nota escrita o un
correo electrónico de los padres para poder emitirles el pase si salen con un
amigo.
ASISTENCIA DIARIA – Queremos recordarles a los padres que es
extremadamente importante que sus hijos lleguen a la escuela a tiempo TODOS LOS DÍAS. Al llegar a tiempo, le
da tiempo a su hijo(a) a organizar su casillero y mochila, entregar las tareas,
y todavía tener tiempo para saludar a sus amigos. Cuando su hijo(a) llega
tarde, llega a las clases estresado, interrumpe la clase, y se pierde de información
importante que los maestros dan al inicio de la clase. Firmemente les
recomendamos que sus hijos lleguen a la escuela antes de las 7:45 a.m. Suena
una campana de aviso a las 7:55 a.m. y las clases comienzan a las 8:00 a.m. en
punto.

El Programa de Masters en Londres:
Los padres de los alumnos de 10mo y 11vo grado están cordialmente
invitados a asistir a la presentación en Skype del Programa de Masters en
Londres el jueves 26 de mayo, a las
12:00 p.m. en la sala de reuniones. Sus hijos ya asistieron a una presentación
preliminar y esperamos ya les hayan compartido un poco sobre de que trata la
experiencia.
Alguna información del programa:
·
Qué es? El
Masters es una competencia única internacional de inglés para alumnos de 16 y
18 años de edad. Las escuelas están invitadas a participar con un equipo de
alumnos de secundaria para tomar parte en una competencia innovadora
internacional. La competencia involucra el diseño y desarrollo de un producto,
con el cual entonces presentaran a un panel de líderes de la industria. Los
alumnos trabajaran juntos como equipo para considerar todas las facetas del
producto proyectado. Durante el curso los alumnos tendrán que llevar clases de Administración
para desarrollar su conocimiento en el mundo de negocios moderno.

Beneficios?
Mejorar sus habilidades de lenguaje relacionados a negocios; mejorar su
liderazgo, trabajo en equipo, habilidades empresariales y de comunicación,
preparar a los alumnos para posiciones de responsabilidad en el mercado global,
experimentar nuevas culturas, visitar algunas de las más prestigiosas empresas
europeas, visitar las mayores atracciones turísticas de Inglaterra y Paris.

Premios? Todos
los alumnos recibirán una medalla y certificado de participación, becas académicas
en Alemania (universidades) para el equipo ganador.
**Exámenes PSAT – Una carta y un correo electrónico se enviaron a
los padres de los próximos sophomores y unos cuantos juniors acerca del examen PSAT
del 19 de octubre, 2016. Favor envíe de regreso la copia de la carta firmada,
antes del 3 de junio, 2016.
**Noticias de los Seniors – Felicitaciones a nuestra senior Pamela Lopez, por su admisión a St. Mary´s University en Texas. Estamos
muy orgullosos de que eres parte de uno de nuestros lobos Pamela!
CAMPAMENTOS DE VERANO EN LA ESCUELA DISCOVERY – Así como el año pasado, tendremos dos campamentos
en el mes de junio. El Discovery Fun 7 que será un campamento divertido,
artístico y mucho entretenimiento para los niños de 3 a 9 años. También
tendremos el campamento de refuerzo para lectura, escritura y francés para
alumnos de K – 4 grado. Ambos campamentos se realizarán del 13 de junio al 1 de
julio, al mismo horario (8:00 a.m. a 12:00). Tendremos transporte disponible
con un costo adicional. Si usted o un familiar/o amigo está interesado, Ms.
Carolina o en la oficina de contabilidad le proporcionarán mayor información.
