SONG FEST 2016
Date, Time and Location – Our Songfest this year will take place in MACC – this Friday, December 9 at 6:00 p.m. Please see the map below (the red arrows show how to get from the school to the location). We will be sending the map and specific directions on how to get there to your email.
Our students will be dismissed at 11: 45 a.m. so our teachers and music department can transport all the necessary instruments and do the appropriate set up for the event.
FOOD, DRINKS AND BAKED GOODS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE BEFORE AND DURING THE SONGFEST.
Performances and Parent Collaboration – Please make sure students are dressed properly for their presentations, and are at the venue no later that 5:30 p.m. Please check individual grade blogs or consult with teachers if you are unsure of what your child your wear and/or bring for Songfest.

Festival de la Canción 2016
Fecha, Hora y Ubicación - Nuestro Festival de la Canción de este año se llevará a cabo en MACC - este viernes 9 de diciembre a las 6:00 p.m. Favor vea el mapa en la parte de abajo. Un mapa será enviado a su correo electrónico con instrucciones específicas sobre cómo llegar.

GETTING TO MACC FOR THE SONGFEST
Coming From Blvd Morazan or Ave. Los Proceres –
At the traffic light just after La Colonia (at the intersection of Colonia 21 de Octubre and Colonia San Miguel) before the entrance to the Anillo Periferico, make a right turn, and drive 100 meters. Look for a sign that says “MACC La Casa de la Fiesta” and turn right to enter that compound. Drive to the end of the compound. MACC will be at the far left.
Coming From Discovery School –
Just as you get off the Anillo Periferico, continue driving on your left and stop at the traffc light. Make a left turn, at the traffic light and drive 100 meters. Look for a sign that says “MACC La Casa de la Fiesta” and turn right to enter that compound. Drive to the end of the compound. MACC will be at the far left.

Rehearsals – The students will be visiting MACC on Tuesday, December 6 and Wednesday, December 7. The school will provide transportation for students and teachers during the school day so that students can rehearse on site. Please send the permissions slips signed if you have not done so. Students who have not returned their slips WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND THE REHEARSALS.

Netiquette and Responsible Email Use - On Friday, December 9 the fifth grade students will work with our Technology Curriculum Integration Coordinator to learn appropriate and responsible ways to use email. In addition they will learn the proper behavior good digital citizens should demonstrate while surfing the internet.

It is always the season to open our hearts and share with those around us that need it most. It has been a tradition at Discovery School for students to come together and contribute in assembling baskets of goods for our support personnel. We are asking for your cooperation in sending the following:
Nursery/PKinder and 6th grade students
1 5-lb bag of beans
Kinder and 7th grade students
1 5 lb bag of rice
1st grade and 8th grade students
1 5-lb bag of sugar
2nd grade and 9th grade students
1 bottle or 2 bags of oil, 2 boxes of margarine, OR 3 lbs of lard
3rd grade and 10th grade students
1 4lb-bag of MASECA
4th grade and 11th grade students
3 lbs of spaghetti (six packages) OR 1 bag of coffee
5th grade and 12th grade students
4 packages of tomato paste
Please feel free to send any additional goodies that you want to share with our devoted staff, such as canned goods, instant soups, cookies and crackers, or anything else that does not require refrigeration. Please send these items no later than Friday, December 9. Your cooperation will be deeply appreciated.
