Welcome back! Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday, and that you find yourself with renewed energy, goals and enthusiasm for this New Year and second semester at Discovery School.
CONFERENCES FOR THE SECOND QUARTER – Parent Teacher Conferences for the Second Quarter scheduled for Friday January 14th are on a need basis. If you have not been asked to come in for a conference, but you would like to meet with a teacher, please call the school and let the teacher know.
ELEMENTARY SCIENCE FAIR –To ensure quality projects and to give our students more time to prepare, our Elementary Science Fair has been rescheduled for Thursday February 17th. We thank you for the support you are giving our students in preparing for this competition.
SPELLING BEE – Elementary Homeroom Teachers and Language Arts Teachers will conduct their grade Spelling Bees this week. The winners from this competition will represent the school at the ABSH Spelling Bee this year on Saturday February 5th. Discovery School is the proud host of this year’s event, and we will have 20 schools nationwide attending this competition. Our winners will be notified on Friday.
MAP TESTING –Our second MAP testing session will start next week and continue for ten days.
BLOGS AND WIKISPACES— Please remember to check the weekly teacher and DPTO blogs that are updated each Monday. This is a valuable link to your child’s education and helps you stay informed about what is going on at school.
Parking Lot Traffic and Dismissal– As we continue to modify the traffic with the opening of our new Entrance and Exit gates, we would like to thank all of our parents for their collaboration and cooperation in our dismissal procedures. Our goal is to have a safe transfer of all students back to their parents in the shortest time possible. We are currently running two lanes in the afternoon—the left lane for parking and the right lane for picking up your child.
PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY AT ALL TIMES ON CAMPUS.
We appreciate your continued compliance with our staff’s instructions during drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon. The middle and lower center sections of the parking lot are reserved for our parents’ parking.
Bienvenidos! Feliz Año Nuevo! Espero que todos hayan tenido unas excelentes vacaciones, y que se encuentren con fuerzas renovadas, nuevas metas y mucho entusiasmo para este nuevo año y segundo semestre en la Escuela Discovery.
CONFERENCIAS PARA EL SEGUNDO PERIODO – Las conferencias de padres maestros para el segundo período están programadas para el viernes 14 de enero y si son requeridas. Si no se le ha pedido que venga a una conferencia, pero le gustaría reunirse con un maestro, favor llame a la escuela y notifique al maestro.
FERIA DE CIENCIAS DE PRIMARIA – Para asegurar proyectos de calidad y proporcionar a los alumnos más tiempo para prepararse, la Feria de Ciencias de Primaria ha sido reprogramada para el jueves 17 de febrero. Le agradecemos el apoyo que le dan a nuestros alumnos en la preparación de esta competencia.
SPELLING BEE (CONCURSO DE ORTOGRAFIA) – Los Maestros de Grado de Primaria y los Maestros de Arte estarán realizando los Spelling Bee en sus grados esta semana. Los ganadores de esta competencia representarán a la Escuela en el Spelling Bee ABSH de este año el sábado 5 de febrero. La Escuela Discovery es el orgulloso anfitrión del evento de este año, y tendremos 20 escuelas de todo el país participando en la competencia. Los ganadores de nuestra escuela serán anunciados el día viernes.
EXÁMENES DE MAP – Nuestro segunda sesión de exámenes de MAP comenzará la próxima semana y continuará por diez días.
BLOGS Y WIKISPACES – Favor recuerde revisar semanalmente los blogs de maestros y DPTO que son actualizados cada lunes. Este es un enlace valioso para la educación de su hijo y le ayuda a mantenerse informado acerca de las cosas que pasan en la escuela.
TRAFICO EN EL ESTACIONAMIENTO Y SALIDAS – Mientras modificamos el tráfico con la apertura de nuestros nuevos portones de Entrada y Salida, nos gustaría agradecer a todos los padres de familia por su colaboración y cooperación en el proceso de las salidas. Nuestra meta es tener un retorno seguro de todos los alumnos hacia sus padres en el menor tiempo posible. Actualmente en la tarde estamos utilizando dos carriles – el izquierdo para estacionarse y el derecho para recoger a su hijo/a.
FAVOR MANEJE DESPACIO EN TODO MOMENTO DENTRO DE LA ESCUELA.
Agradecemos su continua colaboración al recibir las instrucciones de nuestro personal cuando deja a su hijo por la mañana y lo recoge por la tarde. La sección media y baja central del estacionamiento están reservadas para los padres.
