Fasten your seatbelt for the ride! Because Semana Santa was so late this year, the remainder of the year will be a bit rushed. Please keep your sense of humor, be flexible and exhibit the positive attitude that Discovery is known for. We will do our best to keep you informed of any deadlines or changes as early as possible.
We hope you all had a great Semana Santa / Easter Break, and have recharged your batteries for the last part of this wonderful school year.
GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND ARTS EXHIBITION– Please note the following schedule for Thursday, May 5.
4:30 p.m. The Arts Exhibition will open
6:00 pm. General Assembly starts – Activities planned for students and supervised by teachers
**No homework will be given for Thursday night, and no tests will be given on Friday, May 6.
NEW SCHEDULE FOR FRIDAY, MAY 6, FOLLOWING GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND ARTS EXHIBITION: Because Thursday will be a long day for our students, we have decided to make Friday, May 6, a half day for students. Students will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m., and teachers will use the afternoon to work on Curriculum Maps, finalizing curriculum revision, etc. We do apologize for the late notice on this change to the schedule, but we feel it is in the students’ best interest.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) EXAMS – AP exams start on Monday, May 2. Since this is a holiday, Ms. Gloria has graciously decided to proctor the exam. Information on the exams has been provided to students and parents. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Gloria.
AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES STARTED APRIL 5. We will determine on Thursday if each activity will continue to meet, and if so parents will be asked to pay the activity fee. If you have any questions, please contact the PE teachers (Ms. Carol and Mr. Victor) or Ms. Giles.
TASTE OF DISCOVERY SALES DRIVE - From now until May 10, parents and teachers may take 5 cookbooks out at a time to sell to friends, co-workers, or family. Please take this opportunity to share a taste of who we are and to help the DPTO at the same time!
MEASURES OF ACADEMIC PROGRESS (MAP) – Our third and final MAP assessment for the year will begin on Monday, May 9.
PROGRESS REPORTS – Mid-Term of the Fourth Quarter is next Wednesday, May 4. Progress Reports go home on Wednesday, May 11.
Abrocha tu cinturón para el viaje! Ya que Semana Santa fue a finales del mes este año, el resto del año será un poco apresurado. Favor mantenga su sentido del humor, sea flexible y exhiba la actitud positiva que caracteriza a la Discovery. Haremos lo mejor posible para mantenerlo informado de cualquier fecha limite o cambios lo mas temprano posible.
Esperamos que haya pasado una grandiosa Semana Santa/Vacaciones de Pascua, y que haya recargado baterias para la parte final de este maravilloso año escolar.
ASAMBLEA GENERAL Y EXHIBIXION DE ARTE – Favor anote la siguiente programación para el jueves 5 de mayo.
4:30 p.m. La Exhibición de Arte se abrirá al público.
6:00 p.m. Asamblea General comienza – actividades planificadas para los alumnos y supervisadas por los maestros
**No habrá asignación de tareas para el día jueves en la noche, y no se pondrán exámenes el viernes 6 de mayo.
NUEVO HORARIO PARA EL VIERNES 6 DE MAYO, DESPUES DE LA ASAMBLEA GENERA Y EXHIBICION DE ARTE: debido a que el jueves será un día largo para nuestros alumnos, hemos decidido hacer medio día el viernes 6 de mayo. Se despachara a los alumnos a las 11:45 a.m., y los maestros usaran la tarde para trabajar en los Mapas Curriculares, terminar la revisión del curriculum, etc. Nos disculpamos por la notificarles tarde acerca del cambio en el horario, pero sentimos que es por el bienestar de los alumnos.
EXÁMENES DE MATERIAS AVANZADAS (AP) – Los exámenes AP comienzan el lunes 2 de mayo. Ya que este día es feriado, Ms. Gloria muy atentamente se ha ofrecido como voluntaria para presentar el examen. La información necesaria de los exámenes ha sido proveída a los alumnos y padres. Si usted tiene alguna pregunta favor comuníquese con Ms. Gloria.
LAS ACTIVIDADES EXTRACURRICULARES COMENZARON EL 5 DE ABRIL. El jueves determinaremos que actividades deben continuar, y entonces se le pedirá a los padres que cancelen la tarifa de esa actividad. Si tiene alguna pregunta comuníquese con los maestros de Educación Física (Ms. Carol y Mr. Victor) o a Ms. Giles.
VENTAS POR UNIDAD DEL SABOR DE DISCOVERY – Desde este momento hasta el 10 de mayo, padres y maestros pueden llevarse 5 libros de cocina al mismo tiempo para vendérselos a sus amigos, compañeros o familia. Favor tome esta oportunidad para compartir un poco de quienes somos y para ayudar al DPTO al mismo tiempo!
MEDIDAS DEL PROGRESO ACADEMICO (MAP) - Nuestra tercera evaluación de MAP de este año comenzará el lunes 9 de mayo.
REPORTES DE PROGRESO – Los reportes de progreso del cuarto periodo se enviarán el miércoles 11 de mayo.
