UN DAY CELEBRATION – Thanks to everyone who one way or another contributed to make last Friday’s event such a success. Special thanks go to the DPTO officers for their hard work, and to all the parents who gave up their time to share their cultures and traditions with our school community. Many said it was the best UN Day ever!
SCHOOL MASCOT - The THIRD AND FINAL voting for the image of our new school mascot THE WOLF will take place THIS WEEK. On this day, the students will be voting on the two final images to select the new image of the school mascot.
SSL TEACHER’S MEETING – There will be a meeting for all Spanish as a Second Language Teachers on Tuesday, November 1, at 3:15 p.m. in the conference room to continue discussing and aligning the instruction for our SSL students.
UNIVERSITY FAIR – On Thursday, November 3, the Juniors and Seniors will go to a University Fair held at the American School from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., where nine different universities will be available to answer questions from both parents and students. Parents of our students will have to pick them up there, and may attend this event as well. Students should dress in business professional—no jeans, no flip flops, no tennis shoes.
HAVE LUNCH WITH YOUR ELEMENTARY STUDENT – The School Cafeteria wants to invite all the Elementary Parents to come and have lunch with their child(ren) on Friday, November 4. On this day, the Adult size meal will be offered for the child-size price!
FROM THE FINANCE OFFICE – New accounting regulations are being required by the government, and this will require extra work by the Finance Office as they make the necessary changes. Therefore, in an effort to manage the time involved and the existing workload, we ask that you note the following:
- TRAINING: The Finance Office will be closed on Friday, November 4 and Friday, November 11 (All three finance personnel will attend an NIIF Seminar to explain new accounting regulations that have been introduced on Nov. 4-5 and Nov. 11-12.)
- REINA’S SCHEDULE: Beginning this week, Ms. Reina will be doing desk work on all Wednesdays; thus, she will be working with her door closed and will not be available.
- PAYMENT BY CHECK: Requests for payment or checks need to be submitted by Wednesday and will be ready by Friday of the same week.
AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES – The second session for our After School Activity program begins this Tuesday, November 1 (see chart below).
ELEMENTARY STUDENT COUNCIL ASSEMBLY: There will be an Elementary Assembly this Thursday, November 3, from 8:20 to 8:50 a.m. in the gym to discuss the Elementary Student Council purpose and election process.

CELEBRACION DEL DIA DE LAS NACIONES UNIDAS – Gracias a todos que de una manera u otra contribuyeron a que la celebración del viernes pasado fuera un gran éxito. Gracias especiales para los miembros del DPTO por su arduo trabajo, y a todos los padres que dedicaron su tiempo para compartir de sus culturas y tradiciones con nuestra comunidad escolar. Muchos dijeron que ha sido la mejor celebración del día de las Naciones Unidas!
MASCOTA DE LA ESCUELA – La TERCERA Y ULTIMA votación para la imagen de nuestra nueva mascota EL LOBO tendrá lugar ESTA SEMANA. En este día, los alumnos votaran por las dos últimas imágenes que escogimos para la mascota de la escuela.
REUNION DE MAESTROS DE SSL (ESPAÑOL COMO SEGUNDA LENGUA)- Habrá una reunión con todos los maestros de Español como Segunda Lengua el martes 1 de noviembre, a las 3:15 p.m. en el salón de conferencias para continuar discutiendo y alineando las instrucciones para nuestros alumnos en SSL.
FERIA DE UNIVERSIDADES – El jueves 3 de noviembre, los Juniors y Seniors asistirán a la Feria Universitaria que se realizara en la Escuela Americana desde la 1:00 p.m. a las 3:00 p.m.. donde nueve diferentes universidades estarán disponibles para responder a las preguntas que tengan tanto los padres como los alumnos. Los padres de los alumnos deberán recogerlos allá, y podrán asistir también al evento. Los alumnos deberán vestirse de manera profesional – no jeans, no sandalias, no zapatos deportivos.
ALMUERCE CON SU ALUMNO DE PRIMARIA – La Cafetería de la Escuela desea invitar a todos los padres de primaria a venir y acompañar a su hijo a almorzar el viernes 4 de noviembre. En este día, el plato de tamaño de adulto se ofrecerá al precio del plato de niño!
DE LA OFICINA DE FINANZAS – Nuevos reglamentos contables están siendo requeridos por el gobierno, lo que requiere trabajo extra de parte de la Oficina de Finanzas para que puedan hacer los cambios necesarios. Por lo tanto, en un esfuerzo para manejar mejor el tiempo que esto necesita más la carga de trabajo existente, les pedimos que tomen nota de lo siguiente:
- ENTRENAMIENTO: La oficina de Finanzas estará cerrada el viernes 4 de noviembre y viernes 11 de noviembre (Todo el personal de finanzas asistirá al Seminario de NIIF que explica los nuevos requerimientos contables que deben ser puestos en práctica desde el 4-5 y 11-12 de noviembre)
- HORARIO DE MS. REINA: Iniciando esta semana, Ms. Reina estará haciendo trabajo de escritorio todo el día miércoles; por lo que estará trabajando con su puerta cerrada y no estará disponible.
- PAGOS CON CHEQUES: Requisiciones para pagos o cualquier necesidad de cheques necesitan ser solicitadas los miércoles y estarán listos los viernes de la misma semana.
ACTIVIDADES EXTRACURRICULARES – La segunda temporada de nuestras actividades extracurriculares programadas inician el martes 1 de noviembre (vea el cuadro adjunto).
ASAMBLEA PARA ELECCION DEL CONSEJO ESTUDIANTIL DE ALUMNOS DE PRIMARIA – Habrá una Asamblea para la Elección del Consejo Estudiantil este jueves 3 de noviembre desde las 8:20 a las 8:50 a.m. en el gimnasio para discutir el propósito del Consejo Estudiantil de Primaria y el proceso de elección.
