CONGRATULATIONS STUDENTS FOR THE CHRONICLES OF DISCOVERY AND THE WEEK OF THE ARTS! The perfect end to a week of showcasing the artistic talents of our students was the magnificent gala held last Friday evening. We thank Mr. Kjell Fenn, Ms. Elizabeth Campbell, Mr. Warren Ochoa and Ms. Vivian Medrano for their arduous work in highlighting the artistic talents of our students!
MID TERM/ PROGRESS REPORTS: The Mid Term Reports for this last quarter will be sent home this Friday, May 4. Please make sure you set up an appointment with any teacher with whom you would like a conference.
ABSH SCIENCE FAIR: Valeria Martinez, Gabriel Rodriguez, Victoria Glynn, Andrea Figueroa, Tiffany Molina, and Maria Jose Lizardo will be representing Discovery School at the ABSH Science Fair on Friday and Saturday, May 4th and 5th.
GENERAL ASSEMBLY: The General Assembly of parents has been postponed to Thursday, May 17, 2012. The summons will be sent electronically and by hard copy to all parents this week. Please plan to attend -- We need a quorum of 33% of our parents in order to have a legal meeting. During the meeting, parents will vote on the budget and calendar for next year, as well as electing Board members for the next two years. We hope to see you there!
ENROLLMENT DRIVE BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! The Board of Directors has voted to repeat the Enrollment Drive that was held last year. Information will be emailed to all parents and sent home via hard copy during this week, and explained at the General Assembly on May 17.
FROM THE CAFETERIA – ELEMENTARY PARENT LUNCHEON - Take Your Parents to Lunch Day Friday May 11th. Our school cafeteria will be hosting the second student and parent luncheon soon. Flyers with menus will be going home with your children this week. Please return with payment –exact change is preferred - by Monday 07th. The latest date the cafeteria will take orders is Wednesday 09th as the staff needs to prepare and have all ingredients on hand to ensure food for everyone. Students love to spend time with their parents at school, and this is a good opportunity to share lunch with them. Parent involvement helps children perform better academically and behaviorally.

DISCOVERY ZONE SUMMER CAMP: Our school’s Summer Camp this year will run from June 9 to June 29. Please help promote this camp with your lower elementary students and with your friends.

ASAMBLEA GENERAL: La Asamblea General de padres ha sido pospuesta al jueves 17 de mayo, 2012. La convocatoria será enviada electrónicamente además de una copia impresa a todos los padres esta semana. Favor planee asistir – necesitamos una asistencia del 33% de nuestros padres para poder realizar una reunión legal. Durante la reunión, los padres votarán para aprobar el presupuesto y calendario escolar del próximo año, así como también elegir los miembros de la Junta Directiva para los próximos dos años. Esperamos verles!
CAMPAÑA DE MATRICULA POR DEMANDA POPULAR! La Junta Directiva ha votado por repetir la Campaña de Matricula que se realizó el año pasado. La información se enviará por correo electrónico a todos los padres y se enviará una copia impresa durante esta semana, también se explicará en la Asamblea General el 17 de mayo.
DESDE LA CAFETERIA – ALMUERZO DE PADRES DE PRIMARIA – Trae a tus padres a almorzar el viernes 11 de mayo. La cafetería de la escuela está organizando el segundo almuerzo de alumnos y padres. Boletines con el menú serán enviados a casa con su hijo(a) esta semana. Favor mándelos de regreso con el pago –el cambio exacto preferiblemente- antes del lunes 7. El último día que la cafetería recibirá órdenes es el miércoles 9 ya que el personal necesita prepararse para tener todos los ingredientes a mano y asegurarse que haya comida para todos. A los alumnos les encanta pasar tiempo con sus padres en la escuela, y esta es una gran oportunidad de compartir su hora de almuerzo con ellos. El involucramiento de los padres ayuda a los niños a tener un mejor rendimiento académico y de comportamiento.

CAMPAMENTO DE VERANO LA ZONA DE DISCOVERY: el Campamento de Verano de este año se llevará a cabo desde el 9 al 29 de junio. Por favor ayúdenos a promover este campamento con sus alumnos pequeños de primaria y con sus amigos.
