TECH
AUDIT VISIT – We thank our school community for the
enthusiasm, good will and hospitality shown to the EmTech consultants during
the technology audit last week. We are eager to see what the future holds for
our school in terms of technological innovations!

The resulting report--with all data,
observations, focused interviews and benchmarks-- should come back to us
sometime around November 15. This
document will be an important resource for launching a strategically sound
initiative in the development of technology at our school.
OCTOBER
HOLIDAYS – Congress has decreed that the holidays
is October must be observed consecutively at the end of the month. In order to
give you as much planning time as possible, we wish to inform you that the
Discovery School has decided to observe the holidays as follows:
·
Friday, October 3 shall remain
a holiday—(because many people have already made plans for that weekend).
·
The scheduled holidays for
October 13 and 20 shall be moved to October 30-31. Regular school schedules
will be observed on October 13 and October 20.
·
The U.N Day Celebration will be
held on October 29, this will be an “early release” day.
·
There will be no school on
October 30, 31. Classes will resume on
November 3.
MAP FALL TESTING
SESSION
–We continue with week 3 of our fall testing session. Your cooperation in
making sure your child does not miss school on the days we have the tests is
greatly appreciated.
ELEMENTARY
TRACK AND FIELD ACTIVITY – The third, fourth and
fifth grade students will be going on a fieldtrip this Tuesday, September 30 to
the Palacio de los Deportes at the UNAH, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. They will
be accompanied by their homeroom teachers and a group of parents. Permissions
slips and entrance fee (L25) should be turned in as soon as possible.
ABSH
TRACK AND FIELD - A group of 25 Secondary students
will travel to San Pedro Sula to represent the school in the annual
ABSH Track & Field Competition. The event will take place October 2 and 3.
We wish them good luck. Go Wolves!!!
FROM THE
COUNSELOR’S OFFICE – On Monday, Sep. 29, we will be visiting
the Universidad Tecnológica de Honduras (UTH). Our visit includes a tour of the
facilities, a talk on college and career choices, a formal Career Aptitude
Test, and a coffee break. We will be leaving around 8:30 a.m. and coming back
around 12:30 p.m.

El reporte final—con toda
la información, observaciones, entrevistas centradas y referencias—deberíamos
recibirla alrededor del 15 de noviembre. Este documento es un recurso importante
para el lanzamiento de una buena iniciativa estratégica en el desarrollo de la tecnología
en nuestra escuela.
FERIADOS DE OCTUBRE – El Congreso
ha decretado que los feriados de octubre sean observados de manera
consecutiva al final del mes. Para poder darles el mayor tiempo de planeación posible,
deseamos informarles que la Escuela Discovery ha decidido tomar los feriados de
la siguiente manera:
- Viernes 3 de octubre permanecerá como feriado— (debido a que varias personas ya hicieron planes para ese fin de semana).
- Los feriados programados para el 13 y 20 de octubre serán trasladados al 30-31 de octubre. Tendremos horarios de clases regulares durante el 13 y 20 de octubre.
- La celebración del Día de las Naciones Unidas se realizará el 29 de octubre, este día los alumnos saldrán temprano (11:45 a.m.)
- No habrán clases el 30-31 de octubre. Volveremos a clases el 3 de noviembre.
SESIONES DE EXAMENES MAP DE OTOÑO – Continuamos con la semana 3 de los exámenes MAP. Su colaboración en asegurarse que su hijo(a)
no pierda clases durante los días de exámenes es muy valiosa.
ACTIVIDAD DE ATLETISMO DE PRIMARIA – Los alumnos de tercero, cuarto y quinto grado
estarán realizando un paseo este martes 30 de septiembre, al Palacio de los
Deportes de la UNAH, desde las 8:00 a.m. a las 10 a.m. Serán acompañados por
sus maestros guías y un grupo de padres de familia. Las hojas de permiso y
cuota de entrada (L25) debe ser enviada tan pronto sea posible.
ATLETISMO – Un grupo de 25 alumnos de secundaria viajarán a San
Pedro Sula para representar a la escuela en la Competencia Anual de Atletismo
ABSH. El evento se llevará a cabo el 2 y 3 de octubre. Les deseamos buena
suerte. Arriba Lobos!!!
DESDE LA OFICINA DE LA CONSEJERIA – El día lunes 29 de
septiembre, estaremos visitando la Universidad Tecnológica de Honduras (UTH).
Nuestra visita incluye un recorrido por las instalaciones, una charla en la
universidad e información de carreras, un examen formal de aptitudes
profesionales, y un receso. Estaremos saliendo a las 8:30 a.m. aproximadamente
y regresando a las 12:30 m.
