UPDATE ON THE INSTALLATION OF THE ARTIFICIAL TURF (SOCCER FIELD AND PRE-SCHOOL AREAS) - As you have seen, we have made a great advance, but the field is not completely finished yet. Not all of the seams have been sewn and there remain many details to finalize. Therefore, we are asking all students and teachers to stay out of the areas while the workmen finish up the last details. If the soccer field is ready for use on Tuesday, the P.E. Teachers will supervise the following schedule:
Period 1 – Juniors and Seniors will occupy the field under the supervision of the P.E. teachers for an informal, coed practice.
Period 2 – Grades 9 & 10
Period 3 – Grades 7 & 8
Period 4 – Grades 5 & 6
Period 5 – Grades 3 & 4
Period 6 – Grades 1 & 2
Students may use tennis shoes, rubber-cleated soccer shoes, or other soft footwear. Everyone should be aware that high-heeled shoes are very damaging to this turf, and women should bring an extra pair of shoes if they wish to enter of these areas. SECOND
QUARTER REPORT CARDS AND CONFERENCES – This Friday,
January 16 has been set aside for the distribution of the report cards for the
second quarter. This day is an early dismissal day for students, and they will
be released at 11:45 a.m. We will follow the PM Schedule (which begins with period four). Conferences for this
day are on a need basis. Teachers will send notices for the conferences on
Monday, January 12. If you did not receive a notice, but would like to meet
with a teacher, please do not hesitate to contact the school to set an
appointment for the afternoon of that day.
EPSON
TRAINING – The administration team has decided to
seize the opportunity being offered by Epson with the visit of a specialized
trainer being flown to Tegucigalpa. Therefore, next Wednesday, January 14
will be an early dismissal day for students, and we will follow the AM schedule (periods one through four).
The training will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the computer lab.
BRICKS4KIDS
– As an after school activity for our younger
students, the school has been in contact with Bricks4 kidz to offer six
one-hour, Friday- afternoon sessions beginning on Friday, January 30. There
will be a presentation for interested parents and teachers at 11:00 a.m. on
Friday, January 16 in the Library. Following the We learn-We build-We play
approach, Bricks 4 Kidz after-school classes build on the universal popularity
of LEGO® bricks to deliver a high
quality of educational play. For more

***Our senior, Andrea Martínez, was admitted last week
to Augustana College in South
Dakota. She was awarded a noteworthy scholarship based on her strong academic
records. Congratulations Andrea, we are very proud of you and your efforts!
***Scholastic News - Scholastic
Book Club leaflets will be out this week. This is an optional activity offered
by the school, because we know you want to motivate your child to read at
home. With your purchase, our library
will accumulate points to redeem more books for the benefit of your children in
our school. The due date to purchase the
books online is Jan.30. The books will arrive to the school in one single
delivery, and we will distribute them to the students according to their orders,
approximately three weeks after the purchase due date.
***Hygiene Talk - A talk on good
hygiene habits will be given by Mrs. Marilís Zambrana (School Counselor) to the
6th graders on the following days and times:

ACTUALIZACION SOBRE LA INSTALACION
DE GRAMA ARTIFICIAL (CAMPO DE FUTBOL Y AREA DE PRE-ESCOLAR) - Como ya
notaron, hemos tenido un gran avance, pero el campo todavía no está completamente
terminado. No todas las partes han sido costuradas y aun hay varios detalles
por finalizar. Por lo tanto, estamos solicitando a todos los alumnos y maestros
que se mantengan fuera de las áreas mientras los trabajadores finalizan los
últimos detalles. Si el campo de futbol está listo para uso el día martes, los
maestros de P.E. supervisarán de acuerdo al siguiente horario:
Periodo 1 – Juniors y Seniors ocuparán el campo bajo la supervisión de las
maestras de P.E. para una práctica conjunta informal.
Periodo 2 – 9 y 10 grado
Periodo 3 – 7 y 8 grado
Periodo 4 – 5 y 6 grado
Periodo 5 – 3 y 4 grado
Periodo 6 – 1 y 2 grado
Los alumnos pueden usar tenis, tacos, punta de hule (tacos con punta de
acero no), u otro zapato deportivo suave. Todos deben estar conscientes que los
zapatos de tacón alto dañan bastante esta grama, y las mujeres deben traer un
par de zapatos extras si desean ingresar a estas áreas. Les mantendré

CALIFICACIONES Y CONFERENCIAS DEL
SEGUNDO TRIMESTRE - El próximo viernes 16 de enero se ha
establecido para la entrega de calificaciones del segundo trimestre. Este día
los alumnos saldrán temprano, a las 11:45 a.m. Llevaremos a cabo el horario
PM (el cual comienza con el cuarto período). Este día se realizaran
conferencias según sea necesario. Los maestros enviarán notificaciones para las
conferencias el lunes 12 de enero. Si usted no recibe notificación, pero desea
reunirse con un maestro, no dude en comunicarse con la escuela para concertar
una cita durante la tarde de ese día.
CAPACITACION DE EPSON - Epson
traerá un instructor especializado la próxima semana. El equipo administrativo
ha decido aprovechar la oportunidad ofrecida para el desarrollo profesional de
nuestros maestros en el área de la tecnología. Por lo tanto, el próximo miércoles
14 de enero tendremos un día de salida temprana para los alumnos, y
seguiremos el horario AM (períodos
del primero al cuarto). La capacitación comenzará a la 1:00 p.m. en el
laboratorio de computación.
BRICKS4KIDS – Como una actividad extracurricular para nuestros
alumnos más pequeños, la escuela ha estado en comunicación con Bricks4 kidz
para ofrecer seis sesiones de una hora, los viernes por la tarde comenzando
desde el viernes 30 de enero. Tendremos una presentación para los padres y
maestros que estén interesados el día viernes 16 de enero a las 11:00 a.m., en
la biblioteca. Seguidamente el acercamiento We learn-We build-We play, las
clases de Bricks 4 Kidz se basan en la
popularidad universal de bloques LEGO® para
proporcionar juegos educativos de alta calidad. Para mayor información del

***Nuestra senior Andrea Martínez, fue admitida la semana pasada en Augustana College en Dakota del Sur. Se

***Noticias de Scholastic – Las ordenes del Club del Libro de Scholastic se
enviarán esta semana. Esta es una actividad opcional ofrecida por la escuela,
ya que queremos motivar a su(s) hijo(s) a leer en casa. Con su compra, nuestra
biblioteca acumulará puntos para redimir por más libros para el beneficio de
sus hijos en la escuela. La fecha límite para comprar los libros en línea es el
30 de enero. Los libros llegarán a la escuela en un solo envío, y nosotros los
distribuiremos a los alumnos de acuerdo con las órdenes, aproximadamente 3 semanas
después de la compra.
***Charla de Higiene –
Una charla sobre buenos hábitos de higiene será impartida por Ms. Marilis
Zambrana (consejera estudiantil) para los alumnos de 6to grado, según el
siguiente horario:
