UPDATE ON PAVING – The second lane of traffic has been finished.  We are simply waiting for it to harden sufficiently so that we may begin to use it.  Please exercise caution when entering as the men will continue working on the drainage ditch and on the projected sidewalk.  So we can expect some continued blockage and inconvenience, as they bring the project to a close.  Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE ON RESTROOM REMODELING PROJECTS – The restrooms in the Spanish Building are now ready for use.  We will put bottled hand wash in the restrooms because we are awaiting only the delivery of the soap dispensers.  The masons are now working on the second floor restroom in the secondary area, and will straight away begin to work on the first floor bathroom.  The restrooms in the 5^th grade area will be remodeled in June because of the noise involved in removing the old ceramic walls and floors.   Students should cross at the library (from the high school) to use the restrooms in the Spanish wing.  Once again, thank you, students, for your patience and cooperation!

THIS IS SPANISH WEEK! –To commemorate the Day of the Spanish Language (April 23) the Spanish and Spanish Social Studies have planned several activities with our students. Some of them are as follows:

*Inauguration Assembly– Monday, April 20 at 8:00 a.m. in the gym (Early Childhood and Elementary students in charge)

*Closing Assembly - Thursday, April 23 at 2:07 p.m. in the gym (Secondary students in charge)

*Classroom Activities related to the language, literature and music: April 20-22

*Rapid Search and Spelling competitions in the Elementary

Week of the Spanish Language and TheDay of the Book

As part of the activities for the week of the Spanish Language and The Day of the Book, we invite all parents to visit us the following days:

Monday, April 20 from 08:00 to 09:00 am
Thursday 23 April from 02:00 to 03:00 pm

We will have a visit of the Santillana publishing house and Book Master presenting their book collection for children and young people.  These books will be offered discount price.. We hope to see you!

 END OF THE YEAR RECUP EXAMS FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL - Please take note of the following information:

·         There will be one (1) “recuperation week” at the end of the school year (June 15 – 19).

·         Passing grade is 70%.

·         “Retrasada” class – only 1 subject is allowed to be taken the following school year.

·         If the student fails 2 or more subjects at the end of his/her “recuperation” week, he/she will need to repeat the school year.

AP EXAMS (GRADES 10 – 12) -

Monday, April 27 (3:15 p.m.) – Pre-administration session to fill out the first part of the AP answer sheets. This session is MANDATORY for all students taking AP Exams.

Thursday, April 30 - Studio Art: Drawing (all day – ongoing)

Monday, May 4 – Environmental Science (8:00 a.m.) and Psychology (12:00)

Friday, May 8 – US History (8:00 a.m.) and European History (12:00)

Tuesday, May 12 – Spanish Literature and Culture (12:00) and French Language and Culture                                                     (12:00)

Wednesday, May 13 – English Language and Culture (8:00 a.m.)

Friday, May 15 – Human Geography (8:00 a.m.)

** NEWS ABOUT OUR SENIORS - We wish to share with you the admission of Dylan Hernández to Jacobs University in Bremen,Germany. Dylan was one of the few students to receive a scholarship award during this admission cycle. Congratulations Dylan!

**INFORMATIVE TALK FOR PARENTS - Mrs. Anna Lucía Acosta, specialist on family counseling, will be giving a presentation to the parents on the topic “Educating today is different”. This event will take place on Tuesday, April 28, at 1:00p.m. in our Library. You are all invited to come and acquire some insight on this valuable education topic. Refreshments will be served.

  

GO GREEN MONTH:  students are encouraged to wear green each Friday this month.

BRICKS4KIDZ – Session 3 is this Friday, April 17. The sessions run from 3:15 to 4:15 and will be open for students in from kindergarten to grade five. There are spaces still available! You can register on Friday!

ACTUALIZACION EN LA PAVIMENTACION – El segundo carril ha sido finalizado. Ahora simplemente estamos esperando que se endurezca lo suficiente para que podamos empezar a usarlo.  Por favor maneje con cuidado ya que los operarios continuarán trabajando en el drenaje y en la acera proyectada. Aun podemos esperar bloqueos constantes e inconvenientes, mientras se termina el proyecto. Agradecemos su paciencia.

ACTUALIZACION EN EL PROYECTO DE REMODELACION DE LOS BAÑOS – Los baños del edificio de español ya están listos para su uso. Pondremos jabón de manos en botellas porque aun estamos esperando en la entrega de los dispensadores de jabón. Los albañiles están ahora trabajando  en el baño del segundo piso del edificio de Secundaria, y después empezarán con los baños del primer piso. Los baños del área de 5to grado serán remodelados en junio debido al ruido que se produce cuando se remueve la cerámica de las paredes y el piso. Los alumnos deben cruzar por la biblioteca (desde el edificio de secundaria) para usar los baños en el área de español. Una vez más, gracias alumnos por su paciencia y colaboración!

ESTA ES LA SEMANA DEL ESPAÑOL! – Para conmemorar el Día del Lenguaje Español (23 de abril) los maestros de Español y Estudios Sociales llevarán a cabo varias actividades con nuestros alumnos. Algunas son las que a continuación detallamos:

*Asamblea de inauguración – lunes 20 de abril, a las 8:00 a.m. en el gimnasio (a cargo de alumnos de pre-escolar y primaria)

*Asamblea de clausura – jueves 23 de abril a las 2:07 p.m. en el gimnasio (a cargo de los alumnos de secundaria)

            *Actividades por grado relacionadas al lenguaje, literatura y música: del 20-22 de abril

            *Competencias rápidas de búsqueda y deletreo en primaria

            Semana del idioma español y el Día del Libro

Como parte de las actividades para la semana del Idioma Español y el Día del Libro, invitamos a los padres a que nos visiten los siguientes días:

Lunes 20 de abril desde las 8:00 a.m. a 9:00 a.m.

Jueves 23 de abril desde las 2:00 p.m. a 3:00 p.m.

Tendremos la visita de la casa de publicaciones Santillana y Book Master presentando sus colecciones de libros para los niños y jóvenes. Estos libros se ofrecerán con descuento. Les esperamos!

EXAMENES DE RECUPERACION DE FIN DE AÑO PARA SECUNDARIA – Favor tome nota que la siguiente información:

·         Tendremos una (1) “semana de recuperación” al final del año escolar (15 al 19 de junio).

·         La nota para pasar es 70%.

·         Clase “retrasada” – solamente es permitida tener 1 clase para el siguiente año escolar.

·         Si el alumnos falla 2 o más clases al final de su semana de “recuperación”, necesitará repetir el año escolar.

EXAMENES DE AP (DE 10 A 12 GRADOS) –

Lunes 27 de abril (3:15 p.m.) – Sesión de pre-administración para llenar la primera parte de la hoja de respuestas de AP. Esta sesión es OBLIGATORIA para todos los alumnos que realizarán exámenes AP.

**Noticias de los Seniors – Queremos compartir con ustedes la admisión de Dylan Hernández a la Universidad Jacobs en Bremen, Alemania. Dylan es uno de los pocos alumnos que recibió un galardón de beca durante el ciclo de admisión. Felicidades Dylan!

**Charla informativa para padres – Mrs. Anna Lucía Acosta, especialista en consejería familiar, estará dando una presentación a los padres en el tema “Educar hoy en día es diferente”. Este evento se realizará el martes 28 de abril, a la 1:00 p.m. en nuestra biblioteca. Todos están invitados a venir y conocer algunos puntos de vista en este importante tema de educación. Se servirán bocadillos.

MES DEL MEDIO AMBIENTE – Animamos a nuestros alumnos a vestir de verde cada viernes de este mes.

BRICKS4KIDZ – La segunda sesión es este viernes 17 de abril. Las sesiones se realizarán 3:15 a las 4:15 p.m. y estará abierto para alumnos de kínder hasta quinto grado. Todavía hay espacios disponibles! puede registrarse el viernes
