DISCOVERY SCHOOL MONDAY MEMO FOR PARENTS

WELCOME! On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Administration we want to welcome everyone to an excting new school year. We are confident that our school provides the best educational possibilities in the city, and we are very fortunate to have the best teachers working with our students.

NEW FAMILY ORIENTATION– The Admin will meet with our school’s new families on Tuesday, August 11 at 9:00 a.m. at the meeting room. After introductions and general comments, parents will do a walk through and introduce the new parents and students to the teachers. This has proven to be very effective in reducing the first day jitters of both students and parents.

OPEN HOUSE – Our school Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, August 10, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Our teachers will be ready to talk to parents and students that visit us that day.

FIRST DAY ASSEMBLIES – Our the assemblies scheduled for the first day are as follows:

8:00 – 8:30 a.m.          Early Childhood Garden Event (Grades Nursery, PreK, Kinder  and Grade 1)

            8:30 a.m.                     Elementary, Middle and High School @ the Gym

*The Senior class will be making their grand entrance to the school campus during this assembly.  

STICKERS FOR YOUR VEHICLES – Each family will be issued a sticker for his/her car free of charge. Additional stickers may be puchased if needed at the Administrative building.

SPANISH WORKBOOKS –Parents are asked to stop by the Finance department to purchase the Spanish Books for their child(ren).

COMMUNITY INFORMATION CENTER – The new Community Information Center will be open to all our parents and Middle and High School students and teachers from 7:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To access the Wifi at the CIC, please look for the available service “Wolves” which is open to our CIC visitors.

FRENCH LESSONS – The school is now offering French lessons as part of the Early Childhood program. These have been allocated within the school day schedule for each of these grades.
After school French lessons will be offered twice a week for our Elementary and Secondary students at a very convenient price. More information regarding the after school program will be sent in next week’s Monday Memo.

BIENVENIDOS! En nombre de la Junta Directiva y la Administración queremos darles la bienvenida a todos a un excitante año escolar. Estamos seguros que nuestra escuela provee las mejores posibilidades educativas en la ciudad, y nos sentimos afortunados de tener los mejores maestros trabajando con nuestros alumnos.

ORIENTACION DE NUEVAS FAMILIAS – La Administración se reunirá con las nuevas familias de la escuela el día martes 11 de agosto, a las 9:00 a.m. en el aula de reuniones. Después de las presentaciones y comentarios generales, los padres tomarán un recorrido y presentaremos a los padres y alumnos a sus maestros. Se ha comprobado que al hacer esto se reducen los nervios del primer día para ambos alumnos y padres.

OPEN HOUSE – Nuestro Open House está programado para el martes 10 día martes 10 de agosto, de las 10:00 a.m. hasta mediodia. Nuestros maestros estarán listos para charlar con los padres y alumnos que nos visiten.

ASAMBLEAS DEL PRIMER DÍA – Nuestras asambleas para el primer día están programadas como a continuación detallamos:

8:00 – 8:30 a.m.          Evento de Jardín Pre-escolar (Grados de Nursery, Pre Kinder, Kínder y 1ero)

8:30 a.m.                     Primaria, Secundaria en el gimnasio

*La clase de los Seniors estarán haciendo su gran entrada a la escuela durante esta asamblea.

CALCOMANIAS PARA LOS VEHÍCULOS – Cada familia puede solicitar una calcomanía para su carro sin cargo. Las calcomanías adicionales pueden ser compradas según sea necesario en el edificio de Administración.

LIBROS DE TRABAJO DE LA CLASE DE ESPAÑOL – Se les pide a los padres que pasen por el departamento de Finanzas a comprar los libros de la clase de español para su(s) hijo(s).

CENTRO DE INFORMACIÓN DE LA COMUNIDAD – El nuevo Centro de Información de la Comunidad estará abierto a todos los padres y alumnos y maestros de Secundaria desde las 7:15 a.m. a 4:30 p.m. Para tener acceso a la red Wifi, favor busque la red disponible “Wolves”  la cual está abierta para los visitantes del Centro de Información.

CLASES DE FRANCES – La escuela ahora ofrece clases de Francés como parte del programa de Pre-Escolar. Están han sido ubicadas dentro del horario escolar para cada grado asignado.

Las clases de francés, como Actividad Extracurricular serán ofrecidas dos veces para nuestros alumnos de primaria y secundaria a un precio conveniente. Se proporcionará mayor información acerca del programa extracurricular en el Memo de los lunes de la próxima semana.
