AWESOME
START! – We want to thank all our parents for
choosing Discovery School for the education of your child(ren). Our students
look ecstatic about returning to school, and that only happens when both
teachers and parents work together to ensure a quality education in a positive
and nurturing environment.
DISMISSAL – We remind our parents that our student’s safety is our number one
priority, and that every mechanism we use during the dismissal at 3:00 p.m. is
geared towards that purpose. Please follow the instructions and procedures
established by the teachers on parking lot duty, and ask your drivers to do so
as well. Slow down when driving in and out of campus, and roll the window down
so the teachers in the parking lot can call your child(ren) ahead of time. We
thank you for your patience and cooperation in these first days of the school
year.
STICKERS
FOR YOUR VEHICLES – Each family will be issued a
sticker for his/her car free of charge. Additional stickers may be purchased if
needed at the Administrative building. Please make sure you bring the license
plate number for the car(s) you are purchasing sticker(s) for.
SPANISH
WORKBOOKS – Parents can purchase the Spanish Books
in the Finance department located in the third floor of the administrative building.
COMMUNITY
INFORMATION CENTER – The new Community Information
Center will be open to all our
parents and Middle and High School students and teachers from
7:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To access the Wifi at the CIC, please look for the
available service “Wolves” which is open to our CIC visitors.
FRENCH
LESSONS AT DISCOVERY SCHOOL – The school is now
offering French lessons as part of the Early Childhood program. These have been
allocated within the school day schedule for each of these grades and have
already begun.
After school French lessons will be offered twice a week for our Elementary and Secondary students at a very convenient price. The schedule will be balanced with other attractive extracurricular activities so that students won’t have to make difficult choices between activities. French classes will begin August 31 (Secondary) and September 1 (Elementary, 2-5) and will run from 3:15 pm to 4:30 pm. Parents may arrange for bus service. Classes will end on December 10, 2015, and begin again in January.
The cost (for 24 classes) will be Lps.
1,800.00 per student. There will also
be a one-time charge for the work book and the text book, which has not yet
been determined. These fees should be
paid in the Discovery Business Office before the first week of class. More information regarding French and other
afterschool activities will be sent home in the middle of the week.
HEADS
UP ON THE OCTOBER HOLIDAYS - Congress has voted on
changing the holidays that were scheduled for the end of October and move them
to October 7, 8, and 9. Even though this was just announced this week, we will
be looking for further confirmation on the finality of this disposition. Please
make a note of this since we will need to comply with what the government
mandates, which would mean moving our holidays to the new dates.

EXCELENTE INICIO! – Queremos agradecer a todos nuestros padres por
elegir a la Escuela Discovery para la educación de su(s) hijo(s). Nuestros
alumnos se ven emocionados de regresar a clases, y eso solo sucede cuando ambos
maestros y padres trabajan juntos para asegurar una educación de calidad en un
ambiente positivo y enriquecedor.
HORA DE SALIDA – Queremos recordarles a los padres que la seguridad
de los alumnos es nuestra prioridad número uno, y que cada mecanismo que utilicemos
durante la salida a las 3:00 p.m. va enfocado a ese propósito. Favor siga las
instrucciones y procedimientos establecidos por los maestros que están en el
estacionamiento, y también soliciten que sus conductores lo hagan. Baje la
velocidad cuando entren y salgan de la escuela, y bajen la ventana para que los
maestros del estacionamiento puedan llamar a su(s) hijo(s) con tiempo.
Agradecemos su paciencia y cooperación en estos primeros días del año escolar.
CALCOMANIAS PARA LOS VEHÍCULOS – Cada familia puede solicitar una calcomanía para
su carro, sin cargo. Las calcomanías adicionales pueden ser compradas según sea
necesario en el edificio de Administración. Favor asegúrese de traer el número
de la placa de los vehículos para los cuales está comprando calcomanía.
LIBROS DE TRABAJO DE LA CLASE DE ESPAÑOL – Se les pide a los padres que pasen por el
departamento de Finanzas a comprar los libros de la clase de español para su(s)
hijo(s).
CENTRO DE INFORMACIÓN DE LA COMUNIDAD – El nuevo Centro de Información de la Comunidad
estará abierto a todos los padres
y alumnos y maestros de Secundaria desde las 7:15 a.m. a 4:30 p.m. Para tener
acceso a la red Wifi, favor busque la red disponible “Wolves” la cual está abierta para los visitantes del
Centro de Información.
CLASES DE FRANCES – La escuela ahora ofrece clases de Francés como
parte del programa de Pre-Escolar. Están han sido ubicadas dentro del horario
escolar para cada grado asignado, y ya iniciaron las clases.
Las clases de francés,
como Actividad Extracurricular serán ofrecidas dos veces para nuestros alumnos
de primaria y secundaria a un precio conveniente. El horario será combinado con
otras interesantes actividades para que los alumnos no tengan opciones difíciles
entre actividades. Las clases de francés comenzaran el 31 de agosto
(secundaria) y el 1 de septiembre (primaria, 2-5) y serán de 3:15 p.m. a 4:30
p.m. Los padres deben hacer los arreglos para el servicio de bus. Las clases
finalizaran el 10 de diciembre, 2015, y comenzaran nuevamente en enero.
El costo (por 24 clases)
será de Lps. 1,800.00 por persona. También habrá un solo cargo por el precio de
los libros de trabajo y de texto, el cual todavía no ha sido determinado. Estas
tarifas deben ser canceladas en la oficina de Finanzas de la escuela antes de la

ADELANTO SOBRE LOS FERIADOS DE OCTUBRE – El congreso ha votado por realizar un cambio en
los feriados de octubre programados para finales de mes, y moverlos al 7, 8, y
9 de octubre. Aunque esto fue anunciado apenas esta semana, esperaremos información
para confirmar la finalidad de esta disposición. Favor tome nota ya que debemos
cumplir con los mandatos del gobierno, lo cual significaría mover los feriados
a las fechas que queden establecidas.
