JANUARY ASSEMBLY – The General Assembly
(Informational) is scheduled for this Saturday, January 23, at 9:00 a.m. We will provide activities and supervision
for smaller children. The official convocation (convocatoria) was sent out on
January 8, as per the statutes of the school. The DPTO will be selling snacks
and drinks. Also the Choir and the Jazz Band will have a short presentation.
CONFERENCES LAST FRIDAY –
If you did not meet with a teacher last Friday, and need to do so, please
schedule a conference as soon as possible.
SPORTS ACTIVITIES FOR FRIDAY, JANUARY 29 – The Early Childhood, Elementary and Middle School students will be
participating in a series of sports activities along with our guest, the
students of Sunshine School. This will take place on Friday, January 29. This
day is an early dismissal day, and students will be leaving school at 11:45
a.m.

Camp for 9-12 grades:
We have planned
a one (1) day BOOTCAMP in Zambrano, on Friday, January 29, 2016. During the
BOOTCAMP, we will be focusing on team building skills, respect, honesty,
responsibility, commitment, humility, integrity, and confidence among others.
All these traits will help our students become successful human beings.
We have sent a letter home with all the
details. Please send this letter back signed with the complete fee of L.850 as
a written confirmation of your child’s participation in the BOOTCAMP. We are
extending the payment deadline to next Wednesday,
January 20. This will help us finalize the reservation and book the bus
accordingly.
DPTO EVENTS COMING UP:
ANNUAL FUN RUN - This fabulous event will take place on Saturday, January 30 at 8:30 a.m. Pledge Forms will be
distributed to our students next week.
What is the Fun Run? This is a fun Saturday morning event where the
Discovery School community gets together to run or walk around the campus and
then share a nice breakfast. Participants take pledges to do laps around the
campus, and look for sponsors to fund their pledge. This year, the event takes
place at the Discovery School Campus, Saturday, January 30th, rain
or shine. Gate opens at 8:30 a.m. Fun Run and other games from 9 to
10. Free Pancake Breakfast to follow.
BINGO – is scheduled for Friday, February 19 at 5:30 p.m. There will be TWO
airplane tickets, one smart TV, and stays in national and international hotels
among other prices! Tickets will be on sale soon! Spread the word; invite your
family and friends!

Presentation
for Parents:
We cordially invite all school parents to
come to a presentation that will be given by the Lic. Manuel Morales on the
topic “The Challenges that XXI Century Parents Face”. This presentation
will take place on Thursday, January 28, at 12:00 p.m., in the Conference Room.
The school will be providing some refreshments.

BRICKS4KIDZ MODULE – if you did not get a chance to
register your child for the new upcoming module, please send an email to Ms.
Cristiana at cbanegas@discoveryschool.edu.hn.
There are still spaces available for our students from Kindergarten to Fourth
Grade who want to join the fun. This module’s title is “Cranium Contraptions”. The New module begins on Monday, January 25,
from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.
Scholastic News - Scholastic Book Club leaflets were given out
last week. This is an optional activity offered by the school, because we know
you want to motivate your child to read at home. With your purchase, our
library will accumulate points to redeem more books for the benefit of your
children in our school. The due date to purchase the books online is January 25. The books will arrive to
the school in one single delivery, and we will distribute them to the students
according to their orders, approximately three weeks after the purchase due
date.
VALENTINE’S
DAY SALE – The Seniors 2016 will give out flyers
this week so that our students can pre-order their candies, flowers, etc., for
Valentine’s Day, which will be celebrated on Friday, February 12. Payment for the orders will be
picked up one week before, on Friday, February 5. The Seniors 2016 thank you in
advance for your cooperation in this activity.

ASAMBLEA DE ENERO – La Asamblea General
(informativa) está programada para el 23 de enero, a las 9:00 a.m. Tendremos
actividades para los niños pequeños. La convocatoria oficial fue enviada el 8
de enero, según lo establece los estatutos de la escuela. El DPTO estará
vendiendo bocadillos y bebidas. También el Coro y la Banda de Jazz tendrán una
corta presentación.
CONFERENCIAS DEL VIERNES PASADO –Si no se reunió con un maestro el viernes pasado y
desea hacerlo, favor solicite una conferencia tan pronto como le sea posible.

CAMPAMENTO DE ENTRENAMIENTO, ALUMNOS 9-12:
Hemos planificado un (1)
día de Campamento de Entrenamiento en Zambrano, el día viernes 29 de enero,
2016. Durante el Campamento de Entrenamiento, nos enfocaremos en habilidades de
trabajo en equipo, respeto, honestidad, responsabilidad, compromiso, humildad,
integridad y confianza, entre otras. Todas estas características ayudarán a
nuestros alumnos a ser seres humanos exitosos.
Hemos enviado una carta a
casa con todos los detalles. Favor, envíe esta carta de regreso firmada con la
tarifa completa de L.850 como una confirmación escrita de la participación de
su hijo(a) al Campamento de Entrenamiento. Hemos extendido la fecha límite de
pago hasta el próximo miércoles 20 de enero.
Esto nos ayudará a finalizar la reservación y solicitar el bus con tiempo.
PROXIMOS EVENTOS DEL DPTO:
CARRERA POR LA DIVERSION ANUAL (FUN
RUN) – Este fabuloso evento se
realizará el sábado 30 de enero
a las 8:30 a.m. Los formularios de las “Promesas” serán entregadas a los
alumnos la próxima semana.
Qué es el Fun
Run (Carrera por la Diversión)? Es un evento de sábado
por la mañana en el que la comunidad de la Escuela Discovery se reúne para
correr/caminar alrededor del campus de la institución y luego compartir un
agradable desayuno. Participantes asumen "promesas" y se
comprometen a realizarlas siguiendo un circuito de carrera; además, buscan
patrocinadores para financiar sus promesas. Se realizará el sábado 30 de enero,
llueva o esté soleado. Los portones abren a las 8:30
a.m. El Fun Run y otros juegos se llevan a
cabo de 9 a 10 a.m. El desayuno gratuito cierra el día de Carrera.
BINGO – está programado para el día viernes 19 de febrero,
a las 5:30 p.m. Habrán DOS boletos de avión, un smart TV, y estadías en hoteles
nacionales e internacionales, entre otros premios! Los boletos estarán a la
venta pronto! Pasa la noticia, invita a tus familiares y amigos!

CHARLA PARA LOS PADRES:
Cordialmente los

charla se realizará el día jueves, 28 de enero a las 12:00 p.m. en la Sala de
Conferencias. Estaremos

NUEVO MODULO DE BRICKS4KIDZ – si no pudo inscribir a su hijo(s) en el nuevo

. Todavía hay espacios disponibles para los alumnos de Kínder hasta 4to grado
que quieran unirse a la diversión. Este modulo esta titulado “Cranium
Contraptions”. El nuevo modulo comienza el lunes 25 de enero, de 3:15 a 4:15
p.m.
Noticias de Scholastic – Los folletos del Club del Libro de Scholastic se
entregaron la semana pasada. Esta es una actividad opcional ofrecida por la
escuela, porque sabemos que quiere motivar a sus hijos a leer en casa. Con su
compra, nuestra biblioteca acumula puntos para canjear más libros a beneficio
de sus hijos en la escuela. La fecha límite para la compra en línea de los
libros, es el 25 de enero. Los libros llegaran a la escuela en un solo paquete, y
nosotros los distribuiremos según las ordenes, aproximadamente 3 semanas después
de la fecha límite de compra.
VENTA DEL DÍA DEL AMOR Y LA AMISTAD – Los Seniors 2016 estarán repartiendo volantes esta
semana a los alumnos, para que puedan ordenar con anticipación dulces, flores,
etc., para el día de San Valentín, el cual se celebrará el viernes 12 de
febrero. El pago por las órdenes será recolectado una semana antes, el viernes
5 de febrero. Los Seniors 2016 les agradecen de antemano por su colaboración en
esta actividad.
