SPORTS MORNING / PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT / EARLY
DISMISSAL THIS FRIDAY – This Friday our students
will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m. This will be after the FUN FILLED MORNING for
the Early Childhood, Elementary and Middle School students enjoy a morning of
sports and activities with the students of Sunshine School.
Boot
Camp for 9-12 grades:
We have planned
a one (1) day BOOTCAMP in Zambrano, on Friday, January 29, 2016. During the
BOOTCAMP, we will be focusing on team building skills, respect, honesty,
responsibility, commitment, humility, integrity, and confidence among others.
All these traits will help our students become successful human beings.
PLEASE NOTE - If your child is not attending the boot
camp, he/she is still expected to come to school. Teachers will have work
assigned for them to do. Not attending school this day will count as an
unexcused absence.
DPTO’S ANNUAL FUN RUN - This
fabulous event will take place this Saturday, January 30 at
8:30 a.m. Pledge Forms have been distributed to our students.
ALUMNI ACCOMPLISHMENT – Our
Alumna Adriana Sierra, Class of
2012, who is currently attending Trent University in Canada, has recently been
awarded a full scholarship for her Master’s Degree at the INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES in GENEVA, SWITZERLAND. Congratulations
Adriana! Your hard work and dedication is certainly paying off! You make your
parents and family, school and country very proud!!!!

Presentation
for Parents:
We cordially
invite all DS school parents to attend a presentation that will be given by the
Lic. Manuel Morales on the topic “The Challenges that XXI Century Parents
Face”. This presentation will take place on Thursday, January 28, at 12:00
p.m., in the Conference Room. The school will be providing some refreshments.
NEW
BRICKS4KIDS MODULE – if you did not get a chance to
register your child for the new upcoming module, there are still spaces available for our
students from Kindergarten to Fourth Grade who want to join the fun. This
module’s title is “Cranium Contraptions”. The New module begins today - Monday, January
25, from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.
Scholastic News - Scholastic Book Club leaflets were given out
last week. This is an optional activity offered by the school, because we know
you want to motivate your child to read at home. With your purchase, our
library will accumulate points to redeem more books for the benefit of your
children in our school. The due date to purchase the books online is January 25. The books will arrive to
the school in one single delivery, and we will distribute them to the students
according to their orders, approximately
three weeks after the
purchase due date.
VALENTINE’S
DAY SALE – The Seniors 2016 will give out flyers
this week so that our students can pre-order their candies, flowers, etc for
Valentine’s Day, which will be celebrated on Friday, February 12. Payment for the orders will be
picked up one week before, on Friday, February 5. The Seniors 2016 thank you in
advance for your cooperation in this activity.

BINGO – The DPTO is organizing a very exciting BINGO that will be held at
5:30 p.m. on Friday, February 19.
There will be an airplane ticket, one smart TV, and stays in national and
international hotels among other prices! Tickets will be on sale this week!

MAÑANA DE DEPORTES / DESARROLLO PROFESIONAL /
SALIDA TEMPRANO ESTE VIERNES – Este
viernes los alumnos saldrán a las 11:45 a.m. Esta será una MAÑANA LLENA DE
DIVERSION para los alumnos de pre-escolar, primaria y la escuela media, ya que
disfrutarán de una mañana de deportes y actividades con los alumnos de la
Sunshine School.
CAMPAMENTO DE ENTRENAMIENTO, ALUMNOS 9-12:
Hemos planificado un (1)
día de Campamento de Entrenamiento en Zambrano, el día viernes 29 de enero,
2016. Durante el Campamento de Entrenamiento, nos enfocaremos en habilidades de
trabajo en equipo, respeto, honestidad, responsabilidad, compromiso, humildad,
integridad y confianza, entre otras. Todas estas características ayudarán a
nuestros alumnos a ser seres humanos exitosos.
FAVOR TOME NOTA – Si su hijo no asistirá al campamento, debe
presentarse a la escuela a actividades normales. Los maestros tendrán trabajo
para asignarles. No asistir a la escuela ese día contará como una ausencia sin
excusa.
CARRERA POR LA DIVERSION ANUAL (FUN RUN) – Este fabuloso evento se realizará este sábado 30 de enero a las 8:30 a.m.
Los formularios de las “Promesas” fueron entregados a los alumnos.
Qué es el Fun
Run (Carrera por la Diversión)? Es un evento de sábado
por la mañana en el que la comunidad de la Escuela Discovery se reúne para correr/caminar
alrededor del campus de la institución y luego compartir un agradable desayuno.
Participantes asumen "promesas" y se comprometen a realizarlas
siguiendo un circuito de carrera; además, buscan patrocinadores para financiar
sus promesas. Se realizará el sábado 30 de enero, llueva o esté soleado.
Los portones abren a las 8:30 a.m. El Fun Run y
otros juegos se llevan a cabo de 9 a 10 a.m. El desayuno gratuito cierra el día
de Carrera.
LOGRO DE EX-ALUMNOS – Nuestra alumna Adriana Sierra, Clase 2012, que actualmente está asistiendo a la
Universidad Trent en Canadá, recientemente le otorgaron una beca completa para
sus estudios de Maestría en el INSTITUTE
OF INTERNATIONAL AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES en GINEBRA, SUIZA. Felicidades Adriana! Su arduo trabajo y dedicación ciertamente
ha dado sus frutos! Tu padres, familia, escuela y país están muy orgullosos de
ti!!!!

CHARLA PARA LOS PADRES:

Morales sobre el tema “Los retos que los Padres del Siglo XXI Enfrentan”. Esta
charla se realizará el día jueves, 28 de enero a las 12:00 p.m. en la Sala de
Conferencias. Estaremos
sirviendo refrigerios.
NUEVO MODULO DE BRICKS4KIDZ – si no pudo inscribir a su hijo(s) en el nuevo
modulo, favor envíe un correo electrónico a Ms. Cristiana cbanegas@discoveryschool.edu.hn . Todavía hay espacios disponibles para los
alumnos de Kínder hasta 4to grado que quieran unirse a la diversión. Este
modulo esta titulado “Cranium Contraptions”. El nuevo modulo comienza hoy lunes
25 de enero, de 3:15 a 4:15 p.m.
Noticias de Scholastic – Los folletos del Club del Libro de Scholastic se
entregaron la semana pasada. Esta es una actividad opcional ofrecida por la
escuela, porque sabemos que quiere motivar a sus hijos a leer en casa. Con su
compra, nuestra biblioteca acumula puntos para canjear más libros a beneficio
de sus hijos en la escuela. La fecha límite para la compra en línea de los
libros, es el 25 de enero. Los libros llegaran a la escuela en un solo paquete, y
nosotros los distribuiremos según las ordenes, aproximadamente 3 semanas
después de la fecha límite de compra.
VENTA DEL DÍA DEL AMOR Y LA AMISTAD – Los Seniors 2016 estarán repartiendo volantes esta
semana a los alumnos, para que puedan ordenar con anticipación dulces, flores,
etc., para el día de San Valentín, el cual se celebrará el viernes 12 de
febrero. El pago por las órdenes será recolectado una semana antes, el viernes
5 de febrero. Los Seniors 2016 les agradecen de antemano por su colaboración en
esta actividad.
PROXIMOS EVENTOS DEL DPTO BINGO – el DPTO está organizando un muy emocionante Bingo
que se realizará a las 5:30 p.m., el viernes
19 de febrero. Habrán boletos de avión, un smart TV, y estadías en hoteles
nacionales e internacionales, entre otros premios! Los boletos estarán a la
venta esta semana! Favor comuníquense con cualquier miembro del DPTO, pregúntenle
