February  13  -  17,  2017 DIRECTOR´S NOTES NOTAS DEL DIRECTOR AASCA MUSIC FESTIVAL RESULTS- Our School Choir was awarded with the " Most Engaging Performance" trophy for the large ensembles category at 2017 AASCA Music Festival at Lincoln School in Costa Rica.  MIDTERMS PROGRESS REPORTS – Midterm reports went home last Friday, February 10. Please read them and returned them signed by Tuesday, February.   STEM WORKSHOP – Seven of our teachers will be attending a STEM (Science, Tecnhology, Engineering and Mathematics) training sponsored by AASCA: The workshop will take place on February 15 and 16. This is just another example of how or teachers stay current in the best practices for their class. RESULTADOS DEL FESTIVAL DE MÚSICA DE AASCA- Nuestro Coro Escolar fue galardonado con el trofeo "La Presentación Más Cautivadora y Contagiosa" en la categoría de grupos grandes en el Festival de Música AASCA 2017 en la Escuela Lincoln en Costa Rica.   REPORTE DE MEDIO PERIODO - Los Reportes de Medio Periodo se enviaron a casa el viernes pasado 10 de febrero. Favor de revisarlos y enviarlos firmados para el martes 14 de febrero. TALLER STEM - Siete de nuestros maestros (as) asistirán a una capacitación STEM (Ciencia, Tecnología, Ingeniería y Matemáticas) patrocinada por AASCA: El taller serán los días 15 y 16 de febrero. SECONDARY NEWS Noticias de Secundaria ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) EXAMS (grades 10 - 12) - The time has come to order AP exams. The school needs confirmation on whether your child will take the AP exam(s) or not. A letter was sent home on Monday, January 23. If we do not get confirmation from you by FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24, we will understand that your child WILL NOT take the AP exam(s).  EXAMENES DE AP (Advanced Placement)  (grados 10 - 12) - Ha llegado el momento de ordenar los exámenes AP (Advanced Placement) . La escuela necesita su confirmación de si su hijo (a) tomará o no los exámenes AP. Una carta fue enviada a casa el lunes 23 de enero. Si no recibimos su confirmación para el viernes 24 de febrero, entenderemos que su hijo (a) no tomará el examen AP. COUNSELING NEWS Noticias del Departamento de Consejeria Boot Camp for 9-12 grades: We have planned a one (1) day BOOTCAMP in Zambrano, on Friday, March 10, 2017. During the BOOTCAMP, we will be focusing on team building skills, respect, honesty, responsibility, commitment, humility, integrity, and confidence among others. All these traits will help our students become successful human beings.   A permission slip is being sent home today with all the details of this camp. This note needs to come back signed and the corresponding payment needs to be made by the deadline date. If your child is not attending the boot camp, he/she is still expected to come to school. Teachers will have work assigned for them to do. Not attending school this day will count as an unexcused absence. SCHOLASTIC NEWS - Scholastic books have arrived and will be delivered to the children this week.    CAMPAMENTO DE ENTRENAMIENTO para los grados 9-12: Hemos planeado un campamento de entrenamiento de un (1) día en Zambrano, el viernes 10 de marzo de 2017.Durante el campamento de entrenamiento, nos enfocaremos en fomentar el espíritu de grupo, respeto, honestidad, responsabilidad, compromiso, humildad, integridad y confianza entre otros. Todas estas cualidades ayudarán a nuestros estudiantes a convertirse en seres humanos exitosos.   Hoy se enviará una hoja de permiso con todos los detalles de este campamento. Esta nota necesita ser enviada con su firma y el pago correspondiente debe hacerse antes de la fecha límite. Si su hijo (a) no asistirá al campamento de entrenamiento, debe asistir a clases. Los maestros (as) tendrán trabajo asignado para ellos. No asistir a la escuela este día contará como una ausencia injustificada.
