EARLY DISMISSAL FRIDAY - Please take note that Friday, September 28 is a Professional Development Day for our teachers. Students will leave at 11:45 a.m. after following an A.M. Schedule (periods 1-4).

END OF THE INDEPENDENCE
MONTH FESTIVITIES

This Friday, September 28 marks the end of our Independence Festivities. For this, we have renowned Honduran painter NORA BUCHANNAN and local celebrity ANNABELLE RIVERA joining us for special interactions with our students.
Ms. Nora Buchannan, sponsored by Yummies, will bring her GALERIA AMBULANTE “SINERGIA”. Our students will be learning about abstract art, and will also see first hand the work she has presented in other countries where she has been invited to.
Ms. Annabelle Rivera will be talking to our Middle and High School about her well known project “ORGULLOSAMENTE CATRACHO”.
Parents are of course welcome to join us for these two very interesting events.

Este viernes, 28 de septiembre marca el final de nuestras Fiestas de la Independencia. Para esto, tenemos a la renombrada pintora hondureña NORA BUCHANNAN y la celebridad local ANNABELLE RIVERA uniéndose a nosotros para interacciones especiales con nuestros estudiantes.
La Srta. Nora Buchannan, patrocinada por Yummies, le traerá su GALERIA AMBULANTE "SINERGIA". Nuestros estudiantes aprenderán sobre el arte abstracto y también verán de primera mano el trabajo que ha presentado en otros países a los que ha sido invitada.
La Sra. Annabelle Rivera hablará con los alumnos de secundaria (6th -12th) sobre su conocido proyecto "ORGULLOSAMENTE CATRACHO".
Como siempre, los padres son bienvenidos a unirse a nosotros si desean venir para estos dos eventos muy interesantes.

Our Fall MAP testing session continues this week. Please remind your child to give their best while taking the tests. This will allow teachers to meet both individual and group needs.

Our cafeteria is now selling WOLVES PUNCH CARDS - These are pre-paid lunch meal cards that parents can purchase for their children to use. For their convenience, parents can purchase these cards in the Finance Office. Our new punch cards come in four different modalities:

Students, teachers and parents are invited to support our students - athletes by attending the games. We will be sharing the calendars for matches after we return from the Semana Morazanica holiday.

IMPORTANT
- ELECTRONIC DEVICES - as part of their school supplies, students are required to bring a laptop or a tablet with a keyboard in order to work in class. The use of cell phones as a working device will no longer be allowed as it not appropriate for typing and it also creates distraction with the use of social media. Laptops and tablets connect through our school’s wifi and allows us to control the child’s content.
REMINDERS
ATTENDANCE - Traffic is difficult for everybody in the city. Please make the necessary arrangements so your child arrives to school before 7:55 am.

we remind all parents and students to check the blogs every Monday afternoon (preferably) in order to be informed of the week’s content. Click on the tab labeled “Blog Links” in our school’s page http://discoveryschool.edu.hn/secondary
HOMEWORK CALENDAR –
This is a very useful tool to keep track of homework, quizzes and tests, etc. The homework calendar is located within every grade’s blog.

IMPORTANTE
- DISPOSITIVOS ELECTRÓNICOS: como parte de los útiles escolares, los estudiantes deben traer una computadora portátil o una tableta con un teclado para poder trabajar en clase. El uso de teléfonos celulares como un dispositivo de trabajo ya no se permitirá, ya que no es apropiado para escribir y también crea distracción con el uso de las redes sociales. Las computadoras portátiles y las tabletas se conectan a través del wifi de nuestra escuela y nos permiten controlar el contenido.
RECORDATORIOS:
ASISTENCIA - El tráfico es difícil para todos en la ciudad. Favor de tomar las medidas necesarias para que su hijo (a) llegue a la escuela antes de las 7:55 am.

Scholastic News: Our first Scholastic Book Club leaflets of the school year were given out last week. This is an optional activity offered by the school, because we know you want to motivate your child to read at home. With your purchase, our library will accumulate points to redeem more books for the benefit of your children in our school. The due date to purchase the books online is October 9. The books will arrive to the school in one single delivery, and we will distribute them to the students according to their orders, approximately three weeks after the purchase due date.

Noticias de Scholastic – Los Catálogos del Club de libros de Scholastic para este año escolar se entregaron la semana pasada. Esta es una actividad opcional ofrecida por la escuela, ya que buscamos motivar a su hijo (a) para la lectura en casa. Con su compra, nuestra biblioteca acumulará puntos para canjear por más libros que beneficiarán a sus hijos (as) en la escuela. La fecha límite para la compra de los libros en línea es 9 de octubre. Los libros llegarán a la escuela en un solo paquete, y los distribuiremos a los estudiantes según el pedido, aproximadamente tres semanas después de la fecha límite de compra.
