IT’S BINGO TIME! Our DPTO has been working very hard putting together a fabulous night of games and prizes for this Friday, March 8. There will be the famous PEBETES for sale, along with delicious Pupusas and Pizza for dinner!
Invite your family and friends to this wonderful BINGO night! Great prizes await you! Operación Sonrisa will be selling desserts and our Seniors ‘19 will be selling drinks.
Discovery will also provide supervision for students from 3:15 pm to 5:15 pm in the conference room with a movie and goodies! After 5:15 p.m. the care of each child is the responsibility of the parent.
It will be a night to remember, you don't want to miss it! We have almost L100,000 in prizes!
Tickets are being sold with any DPTO member or in the main office for only L250! Buy them today!!!!! Let's support our DPTO! Proceeds from their activities will be used to purchase playground equipment.

INVITATIONAL MATH BOWL- A group of 16 middle and high school students went to IST last Thursday afternoon to compete in several Math competitions along with 10 other schools. The work our students have put throughout this school year paid off as our students did exceptionally well in the event finishing in fourth place. Thanks to Ms. Regina Ochoa, Ms. Ashley Lardizabal, and Mr. Cesar Martinez for making this happen.

INVITACIÓN PARA MATH BOWL- Un grupo de 16 estudiantes de secundaria fueron a IST el jueves por la tarde para competir en varias competiciones de Matemáticas junto con otras 10 escuelas. El trabajo realizado por nuestros estudiantes a lo largo de este año escolar está dando sus frutos, ya que nuestros estudiantes tuvieron un desempeño excepcional en el que obtuvieron cuarto lugar. Gracias a Ms. Regina Ochoa, a Ms. Ashley Lardizabal y a Mr. César Martínez por su esfuerzo.

To commemorate Dr. Seuss’ birthday, we begin our annual Read-a-thon TODAY! Beginning today, students will be reading books, completing activities and recording their progress not only towards an individual competition but towards an area goal to fill Dr. Seuss’ hats in Early Childhood and Elementary.
Reading logs have been distributed today. Please take the time to motivate your child into reading, reading, reading! This competition will last until March 29, and the winners of each grade will receive a prize from our DPTO.

Para conmemorar el cumpleaños del Dr. Seuss, ¡comenzamos nuestro Maratón anual de Lectura HOY! A partir de hoy, los estudiantes leerán libros, completarán actividades y registrarán su progreso no solo hacia una competencia individual sino hacia un objetivo de área para llenar los sombreros del Dr. Seuss en Pre-escolar y Primaria.
Los registros de lectura se han distribuido hoy,. ¡Por favor tomarse el tiempo para motivar a su hijo (a) a leer, leer, leer! Esta competencia durará hasta el 29 de marzo, y los ganadores de cada grado recibirán un premio de nuestro DPTO.

In Early Childhood we learn about many things. We teach our children about sharing and helping. CEPUDO is a nonprofit organization that helps people in need. One of the activities they carry out is donating goodie bags to new mothers at Hospital Materno Infantil. These goodie bags are filled with essentials for mothers and babies. In the next few weeks, you will be receiving an EMPTY TOTE BAG, so you and your child, can go through their baby clothes and pick out items they would like to donate to others.

En Pre-escolar, aprendemos acerca de muchas cosas. Enseñamos a nuestros estudiantes a compartir y ayudar. CEPUDO es una organización sin fines de lucro que ayuda a las personas con poco recursos. Una de las actividades que realizan es donar bolsas de artículos necesarios a las nuevas madres en el Hospital Materno Infantil. Estas bolsas de regalos llenas de productos les ayudan a las madres y los bebés. En las próximas semanas, recibirá una BOLSA VACIA, para que usted y su hijo (a) puedan revisar la ropa usada de su hijo(a) cuando era bebé y elegir los artículos que les gustaría donar.

Our Elementary students have been working with their teachers in their Science Fair Projects. This year, the Science Fair will take place on Friday, April 5.
Please take the time to ask your child what project he/she is working on, and how you can get involved in helping him/her.

Nuestros estudiantes de Primaria han estado trabajando con sus maestros en sus Proyectos de la Feria de Ciencias. Este año, la Feria de la Ciencia se llevará a cabo el viernes 5 de abril.

REGIONAL SPELLING BEE - 12 students will be representing the school in the Regional Spelling Bee hosted the International School of Tegucigalpa. The event will take place on Saturday, March 16. Mr. Pappas and Mr. Ketterer will be acting as judges during the event. Good luck to our spellers!

CONCURSO REGIONAL DE DELETREO - 12 estudiantes representarán a la escuela en el Concurso Regional de Ortografía, sede en la Escuela Internacional de Tegucigalpa. AASCA SPORTSMANSHIP FESTIVAL - 11 middle school students will travel to the Panamerican School in Costa Rica to participate in the festival in March 20 - 24. Our students will participate in basketball, volleyball, track & field, cross country, and soccer. Sportsmanship is an aspiration or ethos that a sport or activity will be enjoyed for its own sake, with proper consideration for fairness, ethics, respect, and a sense of fellowship with one's competitors. The school group will travel with Ms. Yery Villeda, Mr. Alvin Cacho, and Mr. Steven Cacho.

FESTIVAL DEPORTIVO DE AASCA: 11 estudiantes de secundaria viajarán a la Escuela Panamericana en Costa Rica para participar en el festival del 20 al 24 de marzo. Nuestros estudiantes participarán en baloncesto, voleibol, atletismo, campo traviesa y fútbol. El espíritu deportivo es una aspiración o ética de que un deporte o una actividad que se disfrutará por si misma, con la debida consideración de la imparcialidad, la ética, el respeto y la sensación de compañerismo con los competidores. El grupo escolar viajará con Ms. Yery Villeda, Mr. Alvin Cacho y Mr. Steven Cacho.

ABSH MODEL UNITED NATIONS - 13 secondary students will travel to La Ceiba from March 28 - 31 in order to participate in the Model United Nations competition. The competition will be hosted by Mazapan School. We wish our delegates the best of luck. Thank you Mr. Stewart and Mr. Duryea for coaching our delegates.

ABSH MODELO DE NACIONES UNIDAS - 13 estudiantes de secundaria viajarán a La Ceiba del 28 al 31 de marzo para participar en el concurso Modelo de Naciones Unidas. La competencia será organizada por la Escuela Mazapan. Deseamos a nuestros delegados la mejor de las suertes. Gracias a Mr. Stewart y a Mr. Duryea por entrenar a nuestros delegados.

ABSH MATH OLYMPICS AND MATH BOWL - 13 secondary students will participate in:
- Basic Math, Pre Algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry exams.
- Cartesian and Euclidean categories
The math competitions will be hosted by Palmeras Bilingual School in La Ceiba in April 5 - 6. We wish our mathletes the best. The group will travel with their coaches Ms. Ashley Lardizabal and Mr. Cesar Martinez.

ABSH MATH BOWL & MATH OLYMPICS- 13 estudiantes de secundaria participarán en:
- Exámenes de Matemáticas Básicas, Pre Álgebra, Álgebra 1 y Geometría.
- Categorías Cartesianas y Euclidianas.
Las competencias de matemáticas serán organizadas por la Escuela Bilingüe Palmeras en La Ceiba del 5 al 6 de abril. Deseamos a nuestros atletas de matemáticas lo mejor. El grupo viajará con sus entrenadores, Ms. Ashley Lardizabal y Mr. Cesar Martínez.

ABSH VOLLEYBALL - for the first time, the school will participate with a girls team in the pre-juvenile category. The event will be hosted by the Escuela Internacional Sampedrana on April 24 - 27. We wish our 11 girls the best. The group will travel with Ms. Yery and their coach.

SENIORS NEWS - We feel so proud of our senior, Santiago Zelaya, for his recent admission to Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. Santiago was awarded the Patrick Henry Scholarship and International Scholarship for his academic merits and record of accomplishment. Kudos to you, Santiago!
